Midterm Project Outline

The Midterm Project comprises of four parts:

1. Data Interview● Find a Researcher and ask him/her for 30 minutes of their time to ask

them about their research project and data practices, needs, and challenges

● Develop your Interview Instrument○ Use a model questionnaire○ Create your own questions based on the research project

● Record the interview and transcribe the interview script

2. Standardized Data Management Plan● Write a data management plan based off the interview

○ Include tools and resources that could possibly support this project

○ Cover specific areas of the NSF data management plan recommendations

3. Paper● Write up your experience and findings (3-5 pages)

○ Include Interview Instrument and DMP

4. Presentation● Minimum 20-minutes

○ Powerpoint is optional ○ Provide handouts of your DMP

● Present your interview Instrument ● Describe the researcher's day-to-day routine● Discuss their data management practices● Present your DMP and final take-aways
