Midterm Project Outline The Midterm Project comprises of four parts: 1. Data Interview Find a Researcher and ask him/her for 30 minutes of their time to ask them about their research project and data practices, needs, and challenges Develop your Interview Instrument Use a model questionnaire Create your own questions based on the research project Record the interview and transcribe the interview script 2. Standardized Data Management Plan Write a data management plan based off the interview Include tools and resources that could possibly support this project Cover specific areas of the NSF data management plan recommendations 3. Paper Write up your experience and findings (3-5 pages) Include Interview Instrument and DMP 4. Presentation Minimum 20-minutes Powerpoint is optional Provide handouts of your DMP Present your interview Instrument Describe the researcher's day-to-day routine Discuss their data management practices Present your DMP and final take-aways
