The project invest igates Melbourne Universi ty and i ts posit ioning and contr ibut ion to a wider community . Through on si te invest igat ions, South Lawn ranges in funct ion from social iz ing to pr ivate study and community events. Through various sources Melbourne prides i tsel f on being a “publ ic-spir i ted inst i tut ion that makes dist inct ive contr ibut ions to society in research, learning and teaching and engagement “(unimelb 2014).

The Circle, Uptown NormalIl l inois

Landscape architecture f i rm Hoerr Schaudt, developed ‘The Circle ’ as a mult i purpose sustainable roundabout that clenses and circulates stormwater . As i t providesfor these environmental qual i t ies i t also is used as a community space, for members of the general publ ic to si t and enjoy the surroundings. Given i ts shape i t forms a connection to the rest of the ci ty by br inging people into a space that can be accessed from al langles.
