This year Lab Academy will be once again at More in Pavilion 6. It is an exclusive space for young startups created by emerging designers who have been selected by a commission of renowned experts to make their debut at the Milan exhibition. A special, aviary-shaped location with a fresh, nonconformist atmosphere will be the meeting place for about forty eyewear companies that have made originality their motto and love to amaze by pushing themselves beyond all limits. With their out-of-the-box projects, all the young creatives have great expectations, as they themselves confirmed to WMIDO. Jeeyion Park, Sales Manager of Accrue Eyewear, stated: “At MIDO we hope to expand our business in Europe and get our products and our country, Korea, known to Europeans.” Of the same opinion are Laura Spada and Iuri Gionchilie, founders of the Gazüsa brand: “For us MIDO represents debuting at an international event and it will certainly be an experience that will provide us with very many new opportunities and encouragement at professional and personal levels. Because our product is original and unique, we expect feedback to be positive and a mixture of curiosity and amazement.”Daniel Szabo II, founder of You Mawo, and Sebastian Zenetti, CEO and co-founder of the brand, also hope to “meet many interested partners from all over the world. At MIDO we will present a highly innovative collection of bespoke eyewear made with 3D printing. The award-winning collection can be customized by face scanning.”The Milan exhibition is also seen as a place for finding out about the market with the aim of improving

products, as stated by Alex Gómez, Marketing and Sales Manager of Lool. “We would like to continue to gain experience and get feedback from our customers.”MIDO is also synonymous with the quality of its visitors and business. This is demonstrated by comments made by Philippe Vergez, founder of Philippe V: “We expect to meet top distributors and outlets that understand that in the current highly competitive panorama, first you have to sell the brand and then the products.” Stefano Romanelli, co-founder of Uniquedesignmilano, has the same objectives: “Apart from the huge enthusiasm stemming from our company’s first participation in MIDO and the possibilities offered by this event, we expect to find new partners for expanding our distribution network at international level.”

It appears likely that Lab Academy will confirm its role as incubator of creativity, design and innovation again this year. The appointment is from February 25 through 27 in Milan.
