Andy PearsonChief Executive

Andy was appointed as Chief Executive of Midland Expressway Limited on 1st June 2015.

Previously, he spent 18 months working with private investors developing manufacturing opportunities in China, 5 years with the Engineering Support business Babcock International Group developing their interests in Brazil and the Middle East and as CEO of their UK Rail Construction business and 20 years in multinational engineering and manufacturing businesses such as SCA, Courtaulds and Unilever. Andy has a degree in Chemical Engineering from Strathclyde University and an MBA from Warwick University.

Andy’s focus is on continuing to deliver an excellent level of customer service, keeping tight operational control, growing customer numbers and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.

James HodsonDirector of Motorway Operations & Facilities

James was appointed as Motorway Operations Manager in January 2003, with the responsibility to ensure that the M6Toll is maintained and operated to the highest standards in terms of safety, level of customer service and operational effi ciency.

James has 20 years experience in highways operation and maintenance the last 13 years specialising in privately fi nanced projects. Now Director of Motorway Operations and Facilities, James is responsible for 38 Staff within a highly skilled and effi cient department who work closely together to achieve the high standard our customers have now come to expect when using the M6 Toll.

David SlaterFinancial Director and Company Secretary

David joined MEL in October 2000 as Finance Manager and Company Secretary. A Chartered Accountant, David has broad experience from senior roles in the accountancy profession, and engineering and distribution companies.

Previously working as a Finance Project Manager; David joined the company at the start of the M6 Toll construction and has been responsible for the fi nancial control of the project throughout its continuing operational development. He now has the responsibility of 12 staff to maintain and develop the fi nancial reporting and control processes and manage the customer service function.

Karen LucasHR Manager

Karen was appointed as Human Resources Manager in May 2007. In her role, Karen develops people processes and strategies that assist in delivering business objectives; providing human resources support to the business and line managers on all people related activities.

Prior to joining MEL, Karen was Human Resources Manager for Delphi Diesel Aftermarket, a global Automotive Company.

Peter CleaverDirector of Tolling Operations

Peter joined MEL in September 2003 as a Toll Plaza Manager. He brings extensive previous operational management experience from positions within the Engineering Industry and Financial sector.

Peter was promoted to Director of Tolling Operations in November 2006 and is responsible for 69 members of staff . Peter has developed an effi cient department providing an eff ective customer service and throughput at the Toll Plazas to the high standard expected when using the M6Toll.

Colin Mabey M.I.E.T, CEng, CISSPDirector of IT & Systems

Colin has been involved with the project since February 2001 and joined MEL to head up the Systems Team in February 2003.

Colin is a Chartered Engineer with 25 years experience of IT and systems design and integration, across a broad range of industries.

Colin having project managed the design and installation of the motorway’s state of the art systems technology, including Tolling Systems and Motorway communication systems, has established a team of 10 technically trained personnel which are responsible for maintaining and improving all systems.
