Mr. Matthews was far more than a teacher to me, he is my role model and treated me as a friend not a student. His job is to teach an unruly group of teenagers about Language Arts and Social Studies, this task is by no miens easy and is often unrewarding. Mr. Matthews happily took on this responsibility and went above and beyond his calling. He taught me how to be a good leader and the importance of followers. Kindness is a gift all of us have the option to give, yet so few people choose to. Mr. Matthews was a friend to all his students, complimented their successes and encouraging them at failure. No teacher will ever replace what Mr. Matthews has done for me. I still remember now and always will remember what he left me with on the last day of class, he told us; “When life gets hard don’t wish it were easier, wish you were better.”
