The VeniceF can be seen on Stand 1-F19 at PLASA 2010. The VeniceF is the first all-new Midas product to be unveiled following the Music Group’s acquisition of Midas Klark Teknik. It features the full functionality and sound quality of the much-loved Midas XL3 EQ and filter section, Midas mic preamps, 100mm faders, increased channel and input count, a dual 7x2 matrix and a reorganised master section layout. The VeniceF’s 32x32 FireWire capability adds 32 channels of multitrack recording and playback (VeniceF 320) using any suitable FireWire-equipped computer, without the need for additional costly interfaces. This also offers the possibility of virtual soundchecking, and allows third-party plug-ins to be run as channel inserts and third-party effects routed via aux sends and returns. Inputs, groups, auxes, matrixes and masters can be routed to the FireWire interface. The software bundle includes a 60-day trial version of Propellerhead’s Record software and a low latency Midas ASIO driver for PC and Mac. Record offers both multitrack record/edit/replay software and signal processing modules, including dynamics and reverbs which can be inserted into the VeniceF signal paths. The new console will appeal to an even greater market sector than its predecessor, the best-selling Midas Venice, due to its processing and multitrack capabilities, expanded functionality and the XL3 EQ. The VeniceF embodies quality, from its rugged construction and top-of-the-range components through to the unmistakable Midas sound characteristics. VeniceF is presented in a rugged, reassuringly weighty new frame design and livery reminiscent of the Heritage Series.

    PRESS RELEASE

Midas extends PRO range with launch of PRO3 and PRO9

Las Vegas, 9 June 2010: Midas is delighted to announce the launch of the PRO3 and PRO9 digital audio systems, which join the well-established PRO6 to comprise the PRO Series. PRO9 tops the Midas PRO Series, featuring a massive 88 channel input count and 35 buses, with the dual stage boxes offering placement flexibility up to 200m apart and 500m from the FOH position. The cost-effective Midas PRO3 will ensure that even more touring riders and professional installations can take advantage of Midas’ digital features, made popular by established Midas digital systems, the XL8 and the PRO6. Both the PRO3 and PRO9 include the overwhelmingly successful VCA and POPulation groups, which allow users to navigate channels intuitively, without the hindrance of layers or pages of faders. They also naturally feature the legendary and much-loved Midas sound characteristics, which have their roots in the classic Midas analogue boards. Both also offer the same comprehensive choice of effects and dynamics processing as the PRO6 and XL8, including the much-acclaimed XL8 compressor options. The PRO9 benefits from the full range of Midas I/O box options, including the newly-launched DL251 low cost stage box, the highly acclaimed DL431 24 channel 5-way mic splitter offering three mic preamps per channel and dual digital network connections, both with full redundancy. The range also includes the new Klark Teknik DN9650 digital format converter offering MADI and Dante connectivity. Expandable modular connectivity means the system can be upgraded to meet most applications. “Midas customers can now gain additional benefits from our open-architecture approach to system design and our modular hardware implementation,” says Richard Ferriday, brand development manager for Midas and Klark Teknik. “The new PRO6 variants, PRO3 and

    PRESS RELEASE

Klark Teknik launches powerful digital audio format converters at InfoComm 2010

Las Vegas, 9 June 2010: Klark Teknik is pleased to announce the launch of two important new high channel count digital audio format and sample rate converters, the DN9650 and DN9652. The DN9650 network bridge allows the AES50 interfaces on Midas XL8 and PRO Series digital audio systems and Klark Teknik’s DN9696 high resolution audio recorders to connect to third party multichannel digital audio networks. Supported formats include MADI, Audinate Dante, Aviom A-Net, Cirrus Logic CobraNet and Digigram EtherSound. utilising network modules designed and manufactured by Lab X Technologies, Audinate and Cirrus Logic. The DN9652 format converter replaces the AES50 connections with a slot for a second network module. This creates a unique product enabling conversion between many digital audio formats, for example MADI to Dante or Cobranet to Ethersound. The DN9652 will find a myriad of uses solving all kinds of ‘hard to fix’ networking problems in a simple manner requiring little networking skill to deploy. Both models include an astonishing 144 channels of high performance sample rate conversion and independent synchronisation for the two interfaces, including black burst, word clock and AES3. The minimal configuration requirements are simply set up using a standard web browser and an auto-configured Ethernet interface to the unit. Klark Teknik engineering ensures that the audio performance is exemplary. “This is the product that digital audio systems engineers have been dreaming of for years,” says Midas and Klark Teknik managing director John Oakley. “No more worries about incompatible networks or expensive network trained system technicians. Just plug it in and

watch it work!” ENDS All brands and trademarks are recognised. Editor’s information: Klark Teknik was founded in 1974 and in the years immediately following, their innovative approach to design and development allowed them to introduce some truly groundbreaking designs. Klark Teknik was responsible for one of the world’s first digital delay and digital reverb units, however it was their concepts for equalisation devices that really changed the world of professional audio resulting in the DN370 and the famous DN360. Today Klark Teknik continues to bring innovation in design and dedication to engineering and sonic quality in both the analogue and digital realm of signal processing, with the Square ONE and Show Command ranges updating the brand. PRESS RELEASE

Midas launches XL8i aimed at the install market Las Vegas, 9 June 2010: Midas is delighted to announce the launch of the XL8i, a top-of-the-range addition to its digital audio line-up that includes the PRO Series (PRO3, PRO6 and PRO9) as well as the flagship XL8. Responding to requests from the installation, house of worship and theatre markets, Midas has created a digital performance system which is more cost-effective than its forebear courtesy of a new input/output configuration which reduces the number of rack-mounted boxes needed while actually increasing connectivity. The XL8i is equally applicable to touring applications which do not require the XL8 96-channel 5-way active mic splitter system supplied as standard on the XL8. The XL8i naturally includes all the digital features the features made popular by the established Midas XL8 and PRO6 digital systems. This includes the overwhelmingly successful VCA and POPulation groups, which allow users to navigate channels intuitively, without the hindrance of layers or pages of faders. It will of course feature the legendary and much-loved Midas sound characteristics, which have their roots in the classic Midas analogue boards. The XL8i also benefits from the same comprehensive choice of effects and dynamics processing as the original system. The XL8i will be driven by the same modular processing engine as the XL8, and also feature fully dual redundant network architecture, dual control processors and extensive expansion options. “The XL8 has been extremely successful in the fixed installation market,” says Midas and Klark Teknik’s brand development manager, Richard Ferriday. “System integrators and designers have embraced the concept of the XL8 as a system, rather than just a mixing console. XL8i offers greater flexibility, more options and a new entry price point for the venue with high input requirements working to a budget.” ENDS All brands and trademarks are recognised.
