Best Practices

1) UT is providing Rs.3.99/day/child for cooking cost at both Primary and Rs.3.30/day/ Upper Primary level.

2) Training to cook-cum-helpers imparted at Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Sec-42, Chandigarh & Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management, Sec-42.

3) Food testing for quality check is being done

4) Feedback from the students is taken on the Performa devised by the department to

redress complaints of the students .

5) Mechanized transportation has been introduced to ensure timely delivery of meals

in Schools.

6) Retired/experienced/ persons have been engaged to monitor/supervise the quality,

quantity and hygiene of cooked meals.

ISSUES

Coverage of children against enrolment is lowest (50%) in the country and coverage is declining persistently.

Food grain Utilization is less.No meeting of District Vigilance & Monitoring Committee

under the chairmanship of MPCleanliness of classrooms required after the meals in the

schools especially in the schools of outer circuits and villages. (MI)

Water tanks need to be cleaned regularly. (MI)The entitlements of children for MDM should be displayed

prominently on the walls of the schools. (MI) Health Check Up of only 44% of enrolled children.
