Fall District Meeting
Our Summer Meeting will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Hidden Lake Park, 6355 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410. Council 82 – Gary, IN will be our host. The day will begin at 11:00am with our meeting followed by a wonderful Fall Picnic from 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Cost of the picnic is $15.00 per person. Members are reminded that a monthly Mass in honor of Our Lady of Šiluva is said on the first Friday of every month at St. Pius X Parish, 4314 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, IL 60402. Everyone is invited to attend. The Mass is held at 7:00pm, in English, with the Šiluva Novena Prayers recited afterward. The next Mass will be on Friday, October 4, 2019.
Mid-America District Bowling
The 2019-2020 season has begun! Members of the Mid-America District and friends meet on the 3rd Saturday of each month from September to May. Our next bowling dats is Saturday, October 18, 2019. As always we will start at 4:00pm at El Mar Lanes, 8435 South Harlem Avenue, Bridgeview, IL 60455. Please see the district calendar for additional bowling dates. Come on out and bowl with us or cheer on your favorite district bowler. After bowling those who wish to, head out to dinner as a group. As always, all our thanks to Sports Chair, Tony Armalis, for all his work in coordinating our bowling season. Draugas Newspaper to Celebrate 110th Anniversary
On Sunday, October 27th, the Staff and Benefactors of Draugas Newspaper will celebrate their 110th Anniversary with a Special Banquet. The festivities will begin at 1:00pm at the Lithuanian World Center, 14911 127th Street, Lemont, IL 60439. All friends of Draugas are invited and encouraged to attend. Chicago Lithuanian Women’s Club Fall Festival
The members of the Chicago Lithuanian Women's Club will hold their annual fundraiser on Sunday, November 3, 2019. Please plan on joining them for a "Lithuanian Luau" featuring a Hawaiian Review presented by Royale Hawaiians. In addition there will be Lithuanian vendors available for your shopping pleasure. The festivities will be held at the Palos Country Club, 13100 Southwest Highway, Orland Park, IL 60462. Tickets are $50.00 per person. Hoping everyone can come out and support the CLWC as they continued their great works throughout the Lithuanian Community of the Chicago Area. The members of the Chicago Lithuanian Women's Club will be offering two scholarships this year for students of Lithuanian decent. Annual Service and Mass for Deceased Members
Our annual Mass of Remembrance will take place on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at St. Pius X Church. Our Memorial Service will take place at 10:00am. We will then attend the 10:30am Sunday Mass. St. Pius is located at 4314 South Oak Park Avenue, Stickney, IL 60402. Council Presidents are requested to contact Georgianna Macke at 1.630.416.0658 or by email at [email protected] no later than Thursday, November 7, 2018 with a listing of your council’s members who have passed away within this past year so that they can be included in the memorial service. Following the Mass those wishing to will go together for lunch at a local restaurant to be decided. Los Angeles 31st Annual Lithuanian Days
On Saturday, October 5th & Sunday, October 6th, 2019 the Lithuanian Community of the greater Los Angeles, California area will gather for their 33rd Annual Lithuanian Days. This festive weekend of all things Lithuanian will be held on the grounds of St. Casimir Lithuanian Catholic Church, 2718 St. George Street, Los Angeles, CA 90027. Gates open at 11:00am on Saturday and Noon on Sunday, following the 11:00am Mass. Tickets are available at the door; Adults 21-64 - $15.00; Seniors 65+ - $10.00; Youth 13-20 - $10.00; Kids 12 & under – Free; 2-Day Pass - $25.00/$15.00; Saturday after 5:00pm: $25.00.

This event combines the Civil War Museum’s Victorian Christmas, Kenosha Public Museum’s International Holiday Faire, the Winter Harbor Market event, and more. A combination of indoor and outdoor events offering fun and food for the entire family, plus holiday shopping! You won't want to miss this wonderful holiday-themed event.
Remember – Don’t forget your Religious Christmas Stamps
Once again we would like to remind everyone that with the Christmas Season quickly approaching please remember to ask the U.S. Post Office for the Religious Christmas Stamps. This helps to remind everyone that Christmas is first and foremost a Christian Religious Celebration and it also sends a message to the Post Office that we want these Religious stamps to continue. Remember Jesus is the Reason for the Season.
This year there is not only the Madonna and Child Stamp but also a stamp depicting The Nativity itself. Please use them!

Those who were able to attend enjoyed the day so much that we’d like to make it a yearly summer event. Please plan on joining your fellow district members and friends on the 3rd Saturday of June; July; and August 2020 for an afternoon of mini-golf and fun. We will gather at 11:00am at the PGN Fun Village at 8125 West 95th Street, Hickory Hills, IL 60457. Cost of a round of golf is $8.00 per person.
Council 112 – Chicago, IL Annual Christmas Party
The Members of Council 112 will hold their annaul Christmas Party on Friday, December 6, 2019 at Mabenka Restaurant & Banquet, 7844 South Cicero Avenue, Burbank, IL 60459. The festivities will begin at 5:30pm with cocktails. Dinner will begin at 6:00pm. The evening will also include music by Algimintas Barniskis and a raffle. Cost will be $25.00 per person. All attendees are asked to bring a meatless dish to share with the group. Also please let her know what you will be bringing or for suggestions of what to bring. All are welcome to this great annual holiday gathering!

Proposed By-Laws Change
During the Fall Mid-America District Board meeting it was discussed and voted on to present the following change to our District’s By-laws to better align us with what was voted on for the national level during this summer’s convention. Therefore the District Board is presenting the following change to our By-laws. Please review and plan to attend the Fall Meeting where this change will be presented and voted upon. The by-law below in the shaded box on the left is the current by-law and the by-law on the right, with the bolded changes, is what is being proposed.

The Sisters of St. Casimir Auxiliary Annual Luncheon
All members of the Sisters of St. Casimir Auxiliary and friends are invited to attend there Annual Banquet, this year celebrating their 100th Jubilee. The banquet will take place on Sunday October 6, 2019 at Mama Luigi's Restaurant, 7500 South Harlem Avenue, Bridgeview, IL. Doors open at 12:00 Noon and the Luncheon will be served at 1:30pm. I’d like to take this time to say thank you to all those who have read “The Trumpet” these many years. I do hope that you will continue to do so. However, at this time, after more years than I can remember, I will be stepping down as editor of “The Trumpet”. It’s time for someone else to offer fresh ideas to our district’s publication. At this time, I don’t know who will be elected the new editor of “The Trumpet” so I ask that going forward if you have any submissions you’d like included in a future issue that you send them to our District Recording Secretary, Liza Macke. As you know, our only allowable source of income, besides subscription support, is our Christmas Greetings section in the Fall issue. We wish to thank all the Knights of Lithuania individuals and patrons, councils and districts for all of your past support and ask for your continued support by considering the placement of a greeting in this year’s Christmas Greetings Campaign. 107th National Convention News
Join your fellow members and friends from Monday, August 3rd to Friday, August 7th, 2020 aboard the beautiful Royal Caribbean “Mariner of the Seas”! We have contracted, through World Travel Jacksonville (WTJ), a block of cabins to suit everyone’s budget and preferences. Currently, we have 40 cabins on hold for the exclusive use of Knights of Lithuania Members and Guests, 10 Inside Cabins; 10 Ocean View Cabins; and 20 Balcony Cabins. Sherry and Stephanie at WTJ are looking forward to helping make our reservation and booking process as seamless as possible.
We will be sailing from Florida’s Port Canaveral to the beautiful islands of Coco Cay and Nassau, Bahamas. Please remember that the final day to book is Saturday, February 1, 2020. Then you can pay the balance by May 3, 2020 or set your own payment schedule to spread the cost over time. rate for this category will be $1,087.27.
• The rate for an Ocean View Cabin, category 8N, will be $668.27 per person/based on 2 in the cabin. A single rate for this category will be $1,247.27.
• The rate for a Balcony Cabin, category 2D, will be $768.27 per person/based on 2 in the cabin. A single rate for this category will be $2,018.27.
Finally, Suites are also available but will have to be priced out on a case by case basis depending on what you are looking for. Taking into account that the earlier you book the better price and availability you’ll have.
