people until his death on May 10, 2017.

History of the Fund

The White Stone Missionary Baptist Church established the William "Bill" Hess Scholarship in 2018 to assist in promoting and enhancing the education of high school seniors who attend Shelby County Schools. Bill served with dedication by giving his baritone voice through singing in many concerts with the Western Regional Choir and serving the Memphis community. Through the scholarship fund, Mr. Hess's legacy will live in future Hess scholars.

The William "Bill" Hess Memorial Scholarship’s purpose is to demonstrate Bill’s passion for music as it was pure and his relentless efforts assisted in shaping his community, friends, and colleagues. The creation of this memorial fund is an attempt to memorialize Bill’s passion and efforts and recognize those who will continue to assist in the development and enhancement of music in our community. The annual scholarship fundraising will take place annually during White Stone Missionary Baptist Church Revival in May when the scholarship winners will be announced.
