330 Years of MCU First-Class PREMIUM Support
Useful to know who to contact if you have any Questions...
30 years of MCU First-Class PREMIUM SupportHigh-quality, complex products also require high-quality support.
Worldwide, there are around 50,000 different microcontroller derivatives and an estimated 10,000 hardware and software development tools supplied by the microcontroller manufac-turers on the market.
Each hardware manual contains over 1,200 pages of infor-mation. The software manual contains another 1,500 pages.
► Which controller has a future, even if it might fi t the application? ► Which tool package is within my budget and is most suited to my requirements? ► How can I successfully and rapidly integrate the necessary peripherals, such as displays,
sensors, motion control, connectivity or memory?
Here you require an experienced and reliable pathfi nder to lead you through the MCU jungle. And the right support is just as important as the product! We at GLYN can offer you 30 years of experience in the fi eld of microcontrollers, tools and peripherals and have excellent contacts to our suppliers. In so doing, we focus on selected microcontroller manufacturers with extended hardware and software support from 3rd party providers.
Quickly get up and running: Starter Kit with tools
Benefi t from our Starter Kit offers, including comprehensive software packages. Here we primarily use "Umbrella" types which cover multiple devices of the respective product family. Most tools are in-house developments from by our application engineers. These clever solutions incorporate both experience and a passion for detail, so that you can get started quickly and easily.
Webinars and workshops provide guidance
We also offer appropriate training courses for our products at our GLYN Academy. The focus is not only on the microcontrollers here. We can provide support and active training in the hardware and software tools as well as selected peripherals.

24 FTDI Graphic and Microcontroller
FTDI USB Interfaces, Display Control and MCUsFTDI Design Made EasyFTDI was founded in Scotland in the early 1990s by the experienced ASIC developer, Fred Dart.
The Head Offi ce is located in Glasgow, with regional sales and support offi ces in the USA, Taiwan and China and a development centre in Singapore.
FTDI are specialists in the design of chips and software. They are primarily known for their USB solutions. The basic idea is to develop simple-to-use, robust products. True to their philosophy:
"Design Made Easy" and "Bridging Technologies".
They can now look back on over 15 years of USB experience. Even in the future, USB will remain a major topic for FTDI. Through its new USB 3.0 products, FTDI shows the course for the coming years.
"FTDI Chip puts itself in the position of the hardware developers, so that each module not only offers the highest performance but also guarantees simple implementation and a minimum development cost," says Fred Dart, CEO of FTDI Chip.
The latest additions to their portfolio are the graphics chips and microcontrollers. The "EVE" FT800 graphics chip is the fi rst "non-USB product" to be developed. The aim is to replace the segment LCDs with full-colour TFT displays without using expensive controllers to control the display. With the FT900, a powerful controller with its own 32-bit core has been developed. The motto is also valid here: Design Made Easy! Many simple examples and good documentation allow a quick start with the new product.

25FTDI FT900 MCU with VGA Camera Interface
FTDI FT900 with high-speed CPU CoreIncluding parallel camera interface for VGA camerasBased on the new FT32 Core, a high-performance 32-bit RISC core, the FT90X can offer a wide range of connection options. The FT90X can manage without any waiting cycles by executing commands directly from the Shadow RAM instead of from the Flash memory. At up to 100 MHz, it can achieve a performance of no less than 310 DMIPS. By using the GCC Compiler combined with the Eclipse IDE, you can use many items of 3rd party and open source software.
FT900 – "Connectivity Made Easier"
What makes the FT900 so "special"?
It offers many interfaces in "all-inclusive" form which could easily cost a fortune:
► Powerful 32-bit RISC Core with 3.1 DMIPS/MHz
► One parallel camera interface for VGA cameras
► One Ethernet interface with integrated PHY! ► High-Speed USB Host and Device with
480 MBit/s. The interface can also monitor the USB charging.
► Two CAN interfaces ► SD card interface (2.0) ► With its 256 KByte Shadow RAM, the FT900 can execute its program code without wait
cycles and is therefore very fast. The 100 MHz clock facilitates this. ► 64 KByte of RAM is available for data ► I2S Master/Slave Interface (24.57 / 22.57 MHz) for high-quality audio output ► 100QFN, 100LQFP, 76QFN and 80LQFP ► 10-bit ADCs and 10-bit DACs
Hardware tools: ► FTDI MM900EV incl. 1-wire debugger and optional front or rear camera
Software tools: ► C compiler and debugger interface from GNU (Eclipse)
26 FTDI EVE – Embedded Video Engine
FTDI EVE – Embedded Video Engine
EVE1 (up to 512 x 512 pixels) and EVE2 (up to 2048 x 2048 pixels) The EVE graphics chip combines 3 functions in a small 7 x 7 mm housing: Display control, touch evaluation and sound output/audio output. It can control 18-bit colours as an FT810/811, and 24-bit colours as an FT812/FT813.
► Simple programming ► Graphical operation for customer applications
implemented quickly ► Simple change-over from LCD to TFT ► Shorter development times ► Works with every microcontroller (QSPI/SPI/I2C) ► Reduces system costs by 40 - 60 %
It goes without saying that you can also use modern 32-bit microcontrollers to control displays. However, you require a lot of memory, a large number of pins and a high level of computing power. With EVE, you can conjure up extremely good graphics , on the full-colour TFT display of your application even with a small and "weak" 8-bit MCU. The EVE chip supports the direct integration of space-saving JPG fi les. Theoretically, the EVE2 supports up to 2048 x 2048 pixels and a pixel clock of 30 MHz. This allows simple control of all typical displays up to 10.1" (25.65 cm).
Comfortable Tool – The FTDI EVE Screen Editor
The EVE graphic controllers can be programmed independently of the development envi-ronments, as they are controlled via QSPI/SPI or I2C. The free EVE Screen Editor,by means of which you can easily edit the screen, is available for this purpose. EVE transposes the drawn image to your display via the subsequently generated code.

A.D.A.M. – "Intelligent Display"
Intelligent display with integrated FTDI EVE ► The A.D.A.M. (Advanced Display
Application Module) is a proprietary GLYN display concept
► TFT + graphics controller combined on a single board
► The FT80x and FT81x A.D.A.M. displays are controlled with QSPI, SPI or I²C
► Display control + touch evaluation are automatically provided by the FT80x/FT81x
► The sound is also output (must be externally amplifi ed)
► All the required cables to the A.D.A.M. are routed on a 16-pin FPC fl at cable and can thus communicate directly with the target application.
► The A.D.A.M. family is intercompatible as a result of the standardised connection and standardised commands of the FT80x/FT81x and can be easily exchanged
► Rapid change-over between the different display sizes 2.8" to 7", no matter whether resistive or capacitive or without touch
