There is a $5 non-refundable application fee. You will need one of the following forms of customer identification: o Valid Michigan driver’s license o Valid nonresident driver’s license o State of Michigan ID card (issued by Secretary of State) o DNR Sportcard (issued by license agents or available online at www.mdnr-elicense.com) Youth up to 16 years of age may apply for the Youth Hunt as well as one regular season hunt choice. Adults are not eligible to apply for the youth hunt but may accompany a successful youth applicant during the hunt. You may apply in a partnership with one other person. The first applicant of each partnership chooses a hunt date and receives a “party ID” number, which is printed on their receipt. A new party ID number is issued each year. Deer Management Unit (DMU) 273 is a cooperatively managed public hunting area in Saginaw County comprised of both Shiawassee River State Game Area (SRSGA) and Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (SNWR). DMU 273 is defined in the Michigan Wildlife Conservation Order, Chapter 12, Sec. 12.73b, available at www.mi.gov/hunting.

How to Apply for a Reserved Deer Hunt Access Permit • Review hunt choices and area map on pages 3 and 4. Choose one hunt number.

Drawing results will be posted online at mi.gov/deer on August 31. Applicants must obtain their drawing results online at www.mdnr-elicense.com. No other notification will be provided.

Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge Only SNWR hunters may harvest one deer per access permit. The deer must be tagged with a valid deer license upon harvest in accordance with state deer regulations.

Restricted hunts: Non-ambulatory hunts (hunt numbers 0207 – 0210) are reserved for hunters with permanent mobility impairment whose disability requires use of a personal assistive mobility device (such as a wheelchair).

If you apply for a non-ambulatory hunt, you agree to share your contact information with officials coordinating these hunts. Participants must contact hunt coordinators by Sept. 15; see https://go.usa.gov/xEudr for details and contact information.

CAUTION: The Non-Ambulatory Hunt is subject to cancellation without refund. This assistive hunt is administered by volunteers and may be cancelled based on results of a Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) transmission risk assessment. Notification of cancellation will be given to successful hunters by Oct. 15th.

Successful Drawing Applicants and Leftover Access Permits Successful applicants may obtain their reserved deer hunt access permit from any DNR license agent or online at www.mdnr-elicense.com. Access permits obtained online will be sent to the hunter in a confirmation email (scroll to second page). There is no fee for the permit. Access permits will NOT be mailed to successful applicants. Any leftover access permits will be issued to hunters after the drawing on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Sept. 8 at 10 a.m. ET. and may be obtained from any DNR license agent or online at www.mdnr-elicense.com. Any hunter is eligible for one leftover access permit including those who also obtained a permit as a successful applicant in the drawing. There is no fee for a leftover permit.

Reminders: • Your reserved deer hunt access permit is not a kill tag. Hunters must possess deer license(s) valid for DMU 273 and

follow all 2020 statewide deer hunting regulations as well as the local rules and regulations established for the managed area.

• Deer and deer combo licenses are not valid for antlerless deer during firearm and muzzleloader deer seasons. An Antlerless-Only Managed Deer Hunt permit is required for these hunts and for antlerless-only hunts that occur during firearm seasons (details below).

• Youth hunters 10-16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18 years old. Youth under 10 years old who are hunting under the Mentored Youth Hunting License must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 21 years old. Additional restrictions apply; see www.mi.gov/mentoredhunting for details.

For more information, refer to the 2020 Michigan Hunting Digest, available at www.mi.gov/hunting under “Rules and Regulations”. Hunters are also encouraged to review the Wildlife Conservation Order for complete hunting regulations and legal descriptions.

Antlerless-Only Managed Deer Hunt Permit Hunters with a reserved deer hunt access permit may optionally purchase one $20 antlerless-only Managed Deer Hunt (MDH) permit (kill tag) for use during their reserved hunt period ONLY. Be sure to choose the correct hunt choice (DMU 273 State Game Area or DMU 273 Federal Refuge) based on the hunt period and location printed on your access permit.

An antlerless-only MDH permit is required to participate in antlerless-only hunts that occur during the firearm and muzzleloader seasons. Deer and Deer Combo licenses are not valid for antlerless deer harvest during these hunts.

An antlerless-only MDH permit is optional for archery seasons but may be purchased if you wish to harvest an antlerless deer without using your deer or deer combo license.

MDH permits may be purchased from any DNR license agent or online at www.mdnr-elicense.com. All kill tags obtained online will be mailed to the purchaser; allow 7-14 business days for mail delivery.
