Travis Blume joined Bay College in July 2014. From Indiana, Travis earned his Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees from Indiana University—Purdue University Fort Wayne, and his Master’s degree from Indiana Institute of Technology. Prior to Bay College, Travis worked as the University Registrar at Indiana Institute of Technology and as the Registrar for Ivy Tech Community College’s East Central Region. Travis served Bay College as the Registrar before being named as Executive Dean of Student Services.

Mark Kinney is the Executive Dean for Business, Technology, and Workforce Development at Bay College. Prior to that, Mark was the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness at the college. Mark served as the Dean for Computer Information Systems and Technology at Baker College of Cadillac, and as the Chief Operating Officer and network administrator at Forest Area Federal Credit Union. He has taught a wide range of courses in the computer information systems discipline, and holds certifications in both Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access. Mark has a Master’s in Business Administration with a concentration in Computer Information Systems from Baker College, as well as a Bachelor’s in Business Leadership and an Associate’s of Business from Baker College. Currently, Mark is completing his dissertation in fulfillment of the requirements of a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Central Michigan University.

Jeanette Stebelton is the Dean of Allied Health at Bay College, a position she assumed in July 2015. She began teaching at Bay College as an adjunct faculty in 2007, and full time faculty in 2010. Prior to joining Bay College, she began her nursing career at Duke Lifepoint Marquette, formerly known as Marquette General Hospital, in 1995. She held a number of positions at Duke Lifepoint, and was awarded nurse of the month in 2007 and nurse of the year in 2012. She currently maintains a contingency position on IMCU at Duke Lifepoint Marquette because she is passionate about staying current in clinical nursing practice. She also serves on the Research Council at Duke Lifepoint Marquette. Jeanette earned both her Practical Nursing Certificate in 1994 and Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) in 1996, from Bay de Noc Community College. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from Lake Superior State University in 2006, and a Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from Walden University in 2008. She earned a Post-Masters Certificate in Nursing Education from Walden University in 2011.

Russell Curley is the Dean of Enrollment Management at Delta College. He supervises the Office of Admission, Office of Financial Aid, Counseling and Advising Services, and the Registrar’s Office. He has received an Associate of Applied Science from North Iowa Area Community College, a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts from the University of Northern Iowa, and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Iowa in Higher Education Administration. He has 25 years of experience working in academic advising, admissions, new student orientation, lifelong learning administration, and enrollment management at North Iowa Area Community College, the University of Cincinnati, Minnesota State University—Moorhead, Western Kentucky University, and Delta College.

Tammy Russell is the Director of Institutional Effectiveness & Research/Director of Title III Programs at Glen Oaks Community College. She serves on the executive team of the Michigan Community College Collaborative for Accountability, Research, and Effectiveness (MCCCARE). She joined GOCC in 2012 after spending most of her career as the administrator of a neurological rehabilitation program in Grand Rapids. As the first person in her family to graduate from high school, Tammy was fortunate to receive significant grant and academic scholarship funding which allowed her to attend Hope College, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. She later earned a Master’s degree in clinical social work from Western Michigan University. Now a doctoral candidate in the Evaluation, Measurement, and Research program at Western Michigan University, Tammy looks forward to defending her dissertation in October 2016 on the topic, “Meaningful Contributions to Student Learning Outcomes: An Evaluation Case Study of an Outcomes-Based Assessment Training in Student Affairs.”

Erik Guenard is the Dean of Business Services and current Interim Dean of Instruction at Gogebic Community College. Erik has been involved in higher education for more than 19 years. He is working on an Ed.D. in Higher Education and Adult Leadership, holds a Master of Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He has also completed multiple Leadership and Advanced Leadership Academies through the American Association of Community Colleges training program. He has developed and managed over $35 million in capital projects and has worked directly with donors to secure funding. He has also worked to bring numerous new college programs online and expand educational outreach centers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Legislatively he has forged relationships with state, local, and federal legislators and representatives to facilitate positive change during his career.

Nikki Banks is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of the Criminal Justice Department at Grand Rapids Community College. A graduate of the Grand Rapids public school district, Nikki has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Grand Valley State University in Criminal Justice and Social Work respectively. Nikki also holds a Master of Arts in Ministry Leadership from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. An ordained elder in the A.M.E. Zion Church, Nikki serves as associate minister of social justice and community engagement at St. Luke A.M.E. Zion Church in Grand Rapids.

Jennifer graduated from Brevard Community College, transferring to the University of Central Florida to complete both a Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry. After graduation, Jennifer worked for Bionetics Corporation at Kennedy Space Center as an Analytical Chemist, then attended the University of Florida to earn a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry. Jennifer began teaching at Grand Rapids Community College in 2000 as an adjunct faculty member, and was hired later that year to teach full time. Jennifer has served as the Department Head of Physical Sciences for six years, and is currently the Interim Associate Dean of Operations for the School of Arts and Sciences. During her time at GRCC, Jennifer has been involved with the Academic Governing Council, General Education, and the Development of Guided Pathways.

Eric has worked in higher education for 19 years. Sixteen of these have been at Grand Rapids Community College, and three at Aquinas College. His experience has included management of student life, auxiliary services, new student orientation, and most recently enrollment management and financial aid. Eric has served as President for the Michigan association of ACPA, and is currently serving on the Enrollment Management team for MACRAO. He received his undergraduate degree from Aquinas College, his Master’s from GVSU in higher education leadership, and is currently a doctoral candidate at WMU in higher education student affairs leadership.

Janice Gilliland is currently serving in her third year as the Associate Dean of Henry Ford College. She was previously a math faculty member at the college. Before switching to higher education, Janice spent nine years teaching Mathematics in grades 5 through 12 in Detroit Public Schools, Madagascar, and Senegal. Janice is currently in an Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership at Liberty Online. She previously earned an MA in Math from Wayne State University, and Bachelor’s degrees in Education and Mathematics from the University of Western Ontario.

During Jeremy Frew’s 17-year career in higher education, he has worked in student services and academics at both private and public institutions. Jeremy previously served as Assistant Dean of Community College Programs at Siena Heights University where he was responsible for the oversight and expansion of five degree completion sites located on Michigan community college campuses. Jeremy currently serves as Dean of Occupational Education at Jackson College, as the Co-Chair of the Executive Committee for the Jackson County Cradle to Career Network, on the Michigan Works! Southeast Workforce Development Board, and as a member of the Jackson Community Foundation, Grant Committee.

Kathryn Thirolf is the Director of Innovative Instruction at Jackson College. In this role, Kate provides strategic direction to support faculty professional development and instructional innovation across the college. She is the author of several articles on community colleges and community college faculty. She also has coauthored a book on the organizational performance of colleges and universities. Prior to her role at JC, Kate worked as Chief of Staff at Washtenaw Community College, managed consulting engagements at educational institutions (including Achieving the Dream colleges), and served as a University Management Fellow at Harvard University. She earned her A.B. at Princeton University, her Ed.M. at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and her Ph.D. in higher education at the University of Michigan.

Sara joined Jackson College in April 2013 and is serving as the Chief of Staff. Prior to joining Jackson College, Sara spent more than nine years at Siena Heights University, serving five of her most recent years as Director of Admissions. Before taking on the position as Director, Sara worked as the Coordinator of Transfer Student Services. Prior to beginning her time at Siena Heights, she worked for Lourdes University as the Assistant Registrar. Sara is a proud alumna of Jackson Community College where she received her Associate of Arts in 2000. She holds her BA in Business Administration from Siena Heights University and her MBA with a concentration in Leadership from the University of Findlay.

Meredith has worked in higher education for the last 15 years in Admissions, Financial Aid, and the Registrar’s office. Occasionally, she has served as an adjunct faculty in KCC’s Human Services program. Meredith has an Associate in Arts, a Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education, and a Master of Arts in Family Studies. Currently, she is the Director of Admissions and also manages the Testing and Assessment Center. Meredith also coordinates the College’s nine early colleges, seven of which will start in fall 2017.

Angela Cleveland is the Director of Purchasing at Kellogg Community College. She has also served the College as the Business and Administrative Services Manager. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from Western Michigan University. Angela has more than 30 years of accounting experience within private, non-profit, and governmental sectors. She is a native of Battle Creek and enjoys serving the community.

Leslie Kellogg has a passion for community college education and is a first-generation community college graduate. She also holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Michigan, and is a currently pursuing a Doctorate in Community College Leadership from Ferris State University. Leslie has worked in the community college education field for almost 20 years and currently serves as the Vice President of Academic Services at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor.

Laura J. Vosejpka is a Professor of Physical Science at Mid Michigan Community College. She serves as chair of the General Education Committee, and she is co-leading the college’s participation in the Michigan Community College Association Guided Pathways Initiative. Prior to joining MMCC, Vosejpka served as the Executive Communications Director for Global R&D for the Dow Chemical Company. Laura held previous appointments at Northwood University and Alma College. At Northwood, she received two Faculty Merit Citations and the Faculty Excellence Award. She also served as the Assistant Dean for Faculty Development and as the Assessment Coordinator for the HLC AQIP program. At Alma College, Laura was responsible for the organic and inorganic chemistry programs, and her externally funded research program in organometallic photochemistry led to student presentations at both regional and national American Chemical Society meetings. She earned early tenure and promotion and was awarded the Lobdell Emery Teaching Prize for Excellence in Teaching. Laura was a dual major in science and the humanities, graduating with Honors from The Ohio State University with BA degrees in both chemistry and English. She earned her Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin—Madison, and was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Maryland.

Lucia Elden has been teaching English and Humanities for 30 years. She mentors new and adjunct faculty, especially those teaching in the high school dual enrolled classes at Mid Michigan Community College. Her doctoral dissertation from Michigan State University in Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education focused on community college students and their stories.

Larry Gawthrop, CPA graduated from Clio High School and Walsh College. He has been a practicing CPA in southeast Michigan for 20 years with experience in a regional firm and as a principal of a local firm. His professional expertise is in taxation of individuals and closely held businesses, internal control effectiveness, local units of government, operational efficiencies, and complex financing arrangements. Larry has served as the CFO of a $600+ million privately owned nationwide auto dealership group and is currently serving as the contracted CFO of Mott Community College. Larry resides in Mundy Township with his daughter who attends Swartz Creek Community Schools.

Amberly Brennan serves as Chief of Staff for the President at Mott Community College and provides Legal Services. In this role she advises and assists the President with strategic planning on a wide range of matters of institutional importance and collaborates with senior leadership in maintaining compliance functions. Amberly practices law in the areas of general school law and labor and employment law. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Litigation and Labor/Employment Law Sections of the State Bar of Michigan and the Michigan and National Councils of School Attorneys. She has advocated on behalf of school districts and community colleges in teacher tenure proceedings, discrimination claims before the Office of Civil Rights, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Amberly has also conducted investigations into potential employee misconduct and employee discipline. Amberly graduated from Michigan State University (B.A.) and the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law (J.D.).

Marty McDermott was recently promoted to Dean of College Services and Athletics. His responsibilities include oversight of athletics, the book store, food service, the golf course, Lakeshore Fitness Center and all auxiliary services. Marty previously served as Director of Athletics from 2007–2016, where he oversaw the expansion of Muskegon Community College’s athletics program to the largest in the MCCAA. Marty coached college basketball for 15 years, including stints as the Head Coach at the University of Dubuque and Lake Superior State.

Mark Blaauw-Hara is the Writing Program Coordinator and a Professor of English at North Central Michigan College, where he has taught for sixteen years. His interests include transfer theory, threshold concepts, developmental education, student retention, and adult learning pedagogy. Mark earned his Doctorate in English from Old Dominion University, with specializations in writing-program administration and pedagogy. His dissertation focused on supporting military veterans in their transition to the community college. He received his Master’s in rhetoric and composition from Arizona State University, and his Bachelor’s from Michigan State University. Mark currently serves on the Executive Board of the National Council of Writing Program Administrators, he is the Reviews Co-editor for Teaching English in the Two-Year College, and he is a manuscript peer-reviewer for College English and the Journal of Veterans Studies. Mark’s writing has appeared in the Community College Journal of Research and Practice, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, Community College Week, Writing Center Journal, and is forthcoming in Composition Forum and WPA Transitions.

Marguerite is Vice President for the Lifelong and Professional Learning division of Northwestern Michigan College. This area of the college represents programs in advanced technology, aviation, music and audio technology, non-credit enrichment and continuing professional development, customized training for business and industry, NMC University Center, Great Lakes Water Studies Institute, and Human Resources. Common to all these initiatives are partnership development, collaborative practice, responsiveness to regional economic trends and interests, and a passionate commitment to talent development and growth. Marguerite began her career at NMC as an adjunct instructor, and was appointed as Spanish language faculty in 1988. Her appointment to the University Center in 1997 was the first of several administrative assignments leading to her current position. She holds degrees in agriculture and natural resources from the University of Puerto Rico and Michigan State University. She has served on a variety of state-wide boards and is a contributor to national journals on the topic of the adult learner.

Pete Lacey has served as the Vice President of Student Services at St. Clair County Community College for the past 6 years. His career in higher education spans 20 years, having worked in a variety of student services roles at SC4 including Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and Athletics. In addition, he’s worked as an adjunct faculty member teaching Business courses during his career. He holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University, a Bachelor of Business Administration from Saginaw Valley State University and an Associate of Arts from Macomb Community College.

Linda Davis has more than 15 years of experience in higher education at the community college level. As Academic Dean, Linda has administrative responsibility for the Business and Information Technology and STEM divisions. Additionally, she has been involved in online education, workforce development, accreditation as the ALO, and Achieving the Dream as the Core Team Leader. She has also taught as an adjunct faculty member in accounting, business, computer information systems, office administration, and engineering technology. Prior to coming to St. Clair County Community College, she worked as quality manager for automotive suppliers, with responsibilities to implement and maintain QS-9000 standards. Linda holds a Master of Business Administration from Baker College, Bachelor of Arts in Human Resources from Concordia University, Bachelor of General Studies from the University of Michigan, and an Associate of Arts from St. Clair County Community College.

Kristin Good has been at Washtenaw Community College since 2001. She started in the math department as full-time professional faculty and served as chair of the mathematics department for 8 years. In 2014, she became dean of Math, Science and Health. Currently, Kristin is the Dean of Arts and Sciences at WCC. Prior to teaching at the community college, she spent 9 years teaching middle and high school mathematics in the Ann Arbor area. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame. Kristin is beginning a doctoral program through Johns Hopkins beginning September 2016.

Kimberly Hurns is the Dean of the Business and Computer Technologies Division at Washtenaw Community College (WCC). She taught in the business department for more than 13 years, teaching general business, management and marketing courses. Her work at WCC has included committee work in student retention, faculty professional development and entrepreneurship. Prior to Kimberly’s career change to education, she worked in the technology industry in sales, marketing and project management positions. Kimberly has been a part of multiple entrepreneurial endeavors including social media consulting and part ownership of a micro-blog site. She was instrumental in the development of WCC’s Entrepreneurship Center as part of the college’s strategic plan. Kimberly earned a BBA in Marketing from Eastern Michigan University, and an MBA from Loyola University in Marketing and Strategic Information Systems. She received her Doctorate in Management and Executive Leadership from Walsh College.

Mawine Diggs currently serves as President of the Eastern Campus and District Vice Chancellor of Student Services at Wayne County Community College District. As the Campus Chief Executive Officer and District Vice Chancellor of Student Services reporting to the Chancellor, Mawine is a member of the Chancellor’s executive staff and participates in establishing institutional goals in accordance with the District’s educational and student services plan. A native of Liberia, Mawine’s journey is not one of a conventional nature, but one which has left her with a multifaceted viewpoint of the significance of higher education in today’s society and the importance of impacting her community and the world one experience at a time.

Brian Singleton is the Assistant to the Chancellor for Student Success at Wayne County Community College District (WCCCD). In this role, Brian assists the Chancellor and maintains broad executive responsibility for developing and implementing new strategic initiatives. As the liaison to Student Services, Educational Affairs and Campus Operations, he assumes responsibility for communicating District priorities, aligning District initiatives and monitoring the implementation of strategies. Brian is involved in all aspects of the District’s operations as a member of the Chancellor’s Executive Cabinet. Before making the transition to higher education administration, Brian worked as an administrator at the K–12 level. He also worked with Wayne State University on a program that helped underprepared students make the transition to higher education. At WCCCD, he served in the capacity of Vice Chancellor of Student Services, Executive Dean for Instructional Accountability, Associate Dean for Transfer Programs and Assistant Dean of Career Programs prior to his appointment as Assistant to the Chancellor for Student Success. Brian is a doctoral student in the higher education administration program at the University of Toledo.

Matthew L. Puwal is an External Affairs Officer at Wayne County Community College District, where he works to create community partners to assist students in reaching their personal, career, and educational goals. Matthew has worked in higher education for more than twelve years, and has held many positions from Asset Management, Grant Management, Educational Coordinator, and External Affairs. Matthew has presented on a variety of Professional Development Workshops to promote technology awareness to campus staff and administrators. He will never say no if asked to complete something. If there is a task, whether it be from mechanics to computers, he will go above and beyond to make sure the job is complete. He simply lives by one major quote, “anything is possible.”

As a professor of communications at West Shore Community College, Jennifer Lundberg-Anders has been a member of numerous campus initiatives including Academic Projects, Assessment, Institutional Effectiveness and Strategic Planning, Professional Development, and Student Success. In 2016, WSCC awarded Jennifer the Faculty Excellence Award for the second time. She has served as the Faculty Association’s president and is the co-founder of the Literacy Network, an organization recognized by the National Council of Instructional Administrators. In addition to her work with students in the classroom, Jennifer is the faculty advisor for WSCC’s Sustainability Movement and co-organizer of WSCC’s Food for Thought conferences. She holds an M.A. in Communication and Rhetorical Studies from Marquette University and a B.A. from the University of Detroit in Communication Studies and Political Science.

Chad Edward Inabinet serves as the Dean of Student Services at West Shore Community College. Chad has held positions as a Counselor/Advisor at West Shore Community College, Director of Housing and Student Activities at North Central Michigan College and Assistant Director of Housing and Student Life at Lake Superior State University. He received his B.S. in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from Lake Superior State University and his M.A. in Mental Health and K–12 counseling from Spring Arbor University and has his LLPC licensure from the State of Michigan. Chad enjoys giving back to his community through membership and service on the Ludington Rotary Club Board, United Way of Mason County Board, and as a S.T.R.I.V.E. (Students Taking Renewed Interest in the Value of Education) mentor to local, at-risk high school seniors. In addition, he is working on his doctoral degree in Higher Education Leadership, focused on the effects of non-cognitive factors on at-risk community college student completion, through Western Michigan University.
