For the past seven years my role at Williams Ross Architects has been as Project Leader. My overall responsibility is managing a team, taking a project from inception through to practical completion. During this time I have delivered over a dozen projects on site.

Role:Project Leader from Schematic Design through Contract Documentation to the preparation of Tender documents. Tender review and recommendations and also site Contract Administrator.

The projects I have been involved with vary in scale and design. Project budgets have been as small as $ 1 million for the refurbishment of existing classrooms up to $50 million for the construction of a new Aquatic, Health & Fitness Club with Professional Gym, Personal Trainers and Water Slides in Frankston.

There has been an even mix of refurbishment work and construction on green sites.

Responsibilities:• Working with the design and documentation team through all stages of

design development

• Liaise with and support Design Architect

• Co-ordinate architectural documentation team to meet deliverables

• Client presentations, meetings and workshops during design process

• Undertake relevant investigations, analysis

• Authority and Regulatory review / requirements

• Geotechnical / structural factors

• Building Services Brief

• Access, OH&S, Section J, Regulatory and Risk Reviews

• Organise and chair weekly service engineer meetings

• Budget review, including optional components, cost savings with Quantity Surveyor

• Full tender contract documentation

• Administer Contract on site, a fully documented process: all meetings, inspections, etc; record of decisions,

• Building an effective relationship with the Builders, resolving queries practically and promptly

• Timely response to all queries, progress claims within contractual timeframes

• Detailed Claims evaluation based on ‘No document change – no variation’

• Inform Client & obtain approval of all Variations before instructing the Builder

• Fair, practical and impartial administration of the contract.

Elwood Sports PavilionCost to Construct: 1.75 million

Completed 2009.

Local community sporting facility with shared social areas and change room facilities.

Catholic Ladies College Sister Una McAllistar CentreCost to Construct: 4.3 million.

Completed 2011.

Scope included the construction of a new double storey Chapel and music wing at their Eltham campus. The Sister Una McAllister Centre serves the College community both as the Chapel and recital centre, and as a place for the practice and performance of music.

Frank Fenner Building ANUCost to Construct: 15 million.

Completed 2011.

The Frank Fenner Building at the Australian National University (ANU) has become the first building in the ACT to achieve both 6 Star Green Star Office Design and As Built v3 ratings from the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA). The Frank Fenner Building is dedicated to integrated environmental research and training.The three-storey building comprises foyer and seminar rooms, administration and leadership team rooms, academic team environments – academics and post-graduates, outdoor teaching settings.

Peninsula Aquatic Recreation CentreCost to Construct: 50 million.

Completed 2014.

The centre houses 50m pool, warm water, play, learn to swim and toddlers pools, water slides and water play tower – as well as 900m2 gym and four group exercise spaces.

St James Collge Visual and Performing Arts CentreCost to Construct: 4.5 million

Under construction.

New Visual and Performing Arts Centre including performing arts centre and teaching areas for the visual arts and food technology.

Our Lady of the Sacred HeartCost to Construct: 5.4 million.

Construction due to commence December 2015.

This project includes a full refurbishment of the convent to become the Administration wing and main entry to the school. Adjacent to the convent will be a new and vibrant gathering space and school canteen with barista centre.

Projects:

Wodonga Middle Years CollegeScope included the redevelopment of the Huon and Felltimber Middle year campus in Wodonga to house 600 students at each campus. Works included refurbishment and construction of new facilities. Due to scale of programme works are to be staged to minimise disruption to school community.

Cost to Construct: 10.1 million (stage one)

Role:Project Leader from Design Development through Contract Documentation to the preparation of Tender documents.

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Co-ordinate architectural documentation team to meet deliverables• Organise and chair weekly service engineer meetings• Co-ordinating service engineers, Building Surveyor and Security consultants• Review of budget and scope with Quantity Surveyor

Status:Tender documents lodged May 2008 with DEECD

MFB Footscray Fire StationScope included the redevelopment of the existing 1930’s three storey fire station to accommodate new living facilities to meet functional needs and the construction of a new Appliance Bay to house three MFB appliances and one MAS ambulance.

Cost to Construct: 5.9 million

Role:Project Leader from Design Development through Contract Documentation to the preparation of Tender documents.

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Regular Client liaison• Consultation with Heritage Victoria and Council• Co-ordinate architectural documentation team to meet deliverables• Organise and chair weekly service engineer meetings• Co-ordinating service engineer, Building Surveyor and Security consultants• Management of budget and scope of works• Provide recommendations and technical support to Project Manager through Contract

Administration

Status:Practical Completion July 2008

Flying Fruit Fly Circus SchoolScope included the design and construction of a new school for 40 pupils.

Cost to Construct: 1.53 million

Role:Senior Contract Documenter in the preparation of Tender documents. Tender review and recommendations. On site Contract Administrator

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Co-ordinating service engineer, Building Surveyor and Security consultants• Regular Client liaison during construction programme• Administered Contract on site through to practical completion. • Attended fortnightly site meetings and liaised with Client during construction

programme. • 10 month building program.

Status:Practical Completion October 2006

Cost to Construct: 1.35 million

Role:Senior Contract Documenter

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Senior Contract Documenter in the preparation of Tender documents.• Co-ordinating service engineer, Building Surveyor and Security consultants

Status:Practical Completion October 2005

Victoria PoliceScope included the design and construction of four new country Victorian 8 hour police stations.

Cost to Construct: 1.2 million

Role:Project Leader through Contract Documentation. Client liaison. Tender review and recommendations.

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Project Leader through Contract Documentation stage in the preparation of Tender

documents.• Management of budget and scope of works• Co-ordinating service engineer, Building Surveyor and Security consultants• Regular Client liaison during documentation and construction programme• Provide recommendations and technical support to Project Manager through Contract

Administration stage

Status:Practical Completion July 2007

Bayside City CouncilCo-ordinate Bayside City Councils public works programme. Projects ranged from Heritage restoration works, audits and reports to the construction of new amenities.

Role:Regular Client liaison. Preparation of audit reports. Preparation of tender documentation of new amenities. Contract administration

Responsibilities:• Regular Client liaison during documentation and construction programme• Management of budget and scope of works• Contract Documentation in the preparation of Tender documents.• Liaise with and support Design Architect when required• Co-ordinating service engineer and Building Surveyor• Provide full Contract Administration service or provide recommendations and

technical support to Project Manger through Contract Administration stage when required

Projects:

Wesley College, PerthScope included the construction of a new double storey Arts and Technology wing at their South Perth campus.

Cost to Construct: 5.3 million

Role:Contract Documenter. On site Contract Administrator

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Member of Contract Documentation team in the preparation of Tender documents.• Regular Client liaison during construction programme• Administered contract on site through to practical completion. Attended weekly site

meetings and liaised with Client during construction programme.

Status:Practical Completion March 2004

Bellevue Terraces, PerthScope included the fitout of an existing four storey shell to accommodate 8 residential apartments.

Cost to Construct: 5.3 million

Role:Client Liasion. On site Contract Administrator

Responsibilities:• Regular Client liaison during construction programme involving workshops and

providing sketches and drawings reflecting scope of work for apartment fitouts to suit client needs.

• Co-ordinating service engineers• Administered contract on site through to practical completion.• Attended weekly site meetings.

Status:Practical Completion March 2003

Margaret River DevelopmentScope included the construction of a new double storey Retail and residential precinct In the High Street, Margaret River. Retail included two tenancies and restaurant and on the second floor were two holiday stay apartments. Fitouts of tenancies did not form part of the scope of works.

Cost to Construct: 1.7 million

Role:Client Liaison. Contract Documenter

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Regular Client liaison during documentation and construction programme• Preparation of Tender documentation• Provide recommendations and technical support to Contractor through Construction

Programme.

Status:Practical Completion 2003

Kailis Group, FremantleFitout of existing premises to house a seafood and pearl marine corporation. The premises were renovated to house their head quarter offices and provide a secure cleaning and storage facility for South Sea pearls.

Cost to Construct: $250,000

Role:Client Liasion. On site Contract Administrator. Contract Documenter

Shenton College, PerthConstruction of a new secondary school built on a 13 hectare site. New college was the result of the amalgamation of two neighbouring high schools.

Status:Practical Completion 2001

Projects:

ResidentialDocumentation of additions, refurbishments and new single storey residential housing.

Projects:

Pierhead LockScope included the design and construction of a new multi-storey residential development housing 98 apartments, restaurant and several retail tenancies.

Role:Project Leader. Senior Contract Documenter in the preparation of documentation.On site Design review, site direction and quality control

Responsibilities:• Liaise with and support Design Architect• Co-ordinating service engineers• Attended weekly site meetings and liaised with Builder and sub-consultants during

construction programme. 18 month building program

Status:Practical Completion 1999

Awards:Winner of the best apartment building in the National Home Builder Awards 2000.
