Name Michele Amaretto

DOB 12/3/89

POB Buenos Aires, Argentina

Early years Michele grew up on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. His mother, Rosa, said “He was such a thin boy that I always worried about him. He played football from morning until night and even later if I would let him! He was so small, but so very fast. The other boys were much older than Michele, but they just couldn’t catch him. He was given the nickname `whippet` and it stuck throughout his childhood”.

Here and now It was Michele’s incredible balance that made everyone stand up and take notice. On his sixteenth birthday, the two most famous clubs in Argentina, River Plate and Boca Juniors, both tried to sign him .He chose Boca, much to the anger of the River supporters! He made an immediate impact on the struggling team. He scored in his first game against Rosario and followed this up with two more against Velez Sarsfield. What followed was just sensational as the teenage superstar started a scoring spree of 17 goals in only 14 games, leading Boca to an unexpected third placed finish in the table.

Future Although seen as one of the best prospects in world football, rumours have started about a gambling problem as well as a liking for fast food and even faster cars. In December 2007, Michele was involved in a training ground “accident” which resulted in damage to the ligaments in his left knee. A move to Europe is a possibility should any club be prepared to take the risk. Watch this space!
