Michael Benjamin Miller
NotesMichael Benjamin Miller was bom Aug 30, 1845 in Butler
County, Pennsylvania. He was the son of Jacob Y.Mlller and Mary
Gray Miller. His mother died in 1849, and his falher remarried
Eleanore Bealle Aag26,1852.Michael Benjamin married Mary Elizaberth
Hull Miller Jan 13, 1867. After Mary Elizabeth death in 1905,
Michaelmarried Malinda J Hull, Malinda was Michael Benjamin's first
wife's sister. Her husband had died and she andMlchael were married
Jan 13, 1867.The Jabob Y Miller family moved to Story County, Iowa
in 1854. The family moved to Tama County in 1866.Michael Benjamin's
brother David enlisted in the Union Arrry during the Civil War on
September 10, 1861 into thel4th Iowa Regiment Co G, in Tama County,
Iowa. David died as a prisioner of wm in a Confederate POW camp
in
Alabama. Michael Benjamin enlisted in the Union Army on Aug
22,1862 into the 40th Iowa Infanuy Co. D. Hewas 16years ll months
and23 daysoldwhenheenteredthearmy.
Itisbelievedhewasabugler,howeverhewasnot classified as a musician
by the Army. He was mustered out of the Army 02 Aug 1865 at Fort
Gibson, CherokeeNation (Oaklahoma).In 1870 Michael married Mary
Elizabeth Hull in Tama County, Iowa. In 1885 they moved to ONeil,
Holt Coutry,
Nebraska" where Michael served as a Meftodist minister Elizabetr
died in 1905 and Michael remarried Malinda J.Hull, his first wife's
sister..Michael and Malinda moved to Bellingham, Washington in
1913. Michael died March 15, 1823 in Bellingham,Whatcom County,
Washington. He was brnied March 18, 1823 in the Bay View Cemetery,
in Whatcom County,Washington.Michael's sister Anna Mariah died on
April 12,1874 in childbirth.

Michael Mill% chaplain of J. B. Steadman Post No. 24, of the G.
A. R., and ten years a gsllingham residenq died at
a local hospitalyesterday
afternoon at tle age of 77 yearc. Death was due to a paralytic
stroke suf;ered last Friday.Mr. Miller resided at 2634 Michigan
steet. In the civil war Mr. Miller served in an Iowa regiment and
for fifteenyears after the war's end, he was pastor of a Methodist
church in O'Neil, Nebraska. The survivors are the widow;five song
William and Frank, of Bellingham; Michael, Charles and Jarnes H.,
of Nebraska; four daughters, Mrs.Edith Crook, ofNebraska; Mrs.
Sarah Smrth, Mrs. Mary Lamb and Mrs. Blanche Ha1me, of Monanq one
brotherWilliam, of Norfollq Mont.; forly-four grandchildren and
thirteen great grandchildren. The firneral will be heldSunday at
l:30 p. m., at Arthur C. Harlov/s mortuary home, with the Rev.
Haslam, pastor of the Free Methodistehurch, and the G. A. R.
officiating. Burial at Bayview Cemetery; Sec 4 - Lot 16-Grave 7 on
March 18,1923.
Michaets sister Anna Mariah died on April 12,1874 in
childbirft.In 1870 Michael married Mary Elizabeth Hull in Tama

David Miller
NotesDavid Miller was born m 1842 in Butler Co., Pennsylvania.
He was the son of Jacob Y. Mlller and Mary GrayMiller. His mother
died in April 2, 1849, and his father remarried Ellenore Bealle in
1852.The Jabob Y Miller family moved to Story County, Iowa in 1854.
The family moved to Tama County in 1866.However Civil War records
indicate that David enlisted in Tama County into the Union Army.
(He probablytraveled from Story County to Tama County to enlist).
David enlisted in the Union Army on September 10, 1861intothe l4th
lowa Regiment Co G, in Tarna County, Iowa.David was missing in
action and captured dwing the Battle of Shiloh. He was a prisioner
of war in Alabam4 where
he died May 27,1862, a prisoner of the Confederacy. He died
about 6 weeks after being captured, it is possible that
he was wounded when captured and died from the wounds. This is
not documented" it is a possiblility. I have founda record which
indicates he died in the rebel prison hospital.David Miller , age
20. Residence Tama County, nativity Pennsylvania Enlisted Oct. 9, I
86 l Musterd in Nov. 2,1861. Missing in action and taken prisoner
April 6, 1862, Shiloh, Tenn. Died while a prisoner of war May 27,
1862,Montgomery,Ala.
