A note about Evites…Evites now go to all emails on file. One person responding can change the number of attendees to an event if both people in a couple don’t want to respond. ALL members should be getting emails generated by the website, and all members can access the Evites from the website event listing and, in most cases, from Facebook (members only events are not publicized on Facebook).

If you have not renewed your membership for 2019, please do so ASAP. You will be removed from the club roster and from Evites after March 31. Dues are $39 for couples who both want to join, and $30 for singles. Your dues go toward doorprizes, club insurance, and supplementing costs for annual events such as the Christmas party and picnic.

2019 Texas Miata Challenge

Lone Star Miata Club Drive to each of the 10 designated points in Texas and take a picture of you, your Miata, and the specified item at each destination, if possible. If both driver and co-pilot are participating, both can appear in the same picture, or separate pictures. Entries with all 10 destinations will receive a specially designed Pin & T-shirt. All pictures must be no larger than 4x6 prints on photo quality paper can be mailed to Bruce Gibson or emailed by October 1, 2019 by using the address or email shown below. Awards will be given out at the 2019 Texas Miata Roundup or your club meeting.

Road Rally School May 18, 2019
It’s back to school time! If you wanted to learn more about SCCA road rally concepts and techniques, this is a great opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills or to brush up on elements that may have challenged you in a previous rally. Content covers SCCA GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rallies and is geared for novices, though it will also include concepts of interest to the more advanced rallyist. Our lead instructor will be Liz Witt. Rally School Day is Saturday, May 18, at St Barnabas Presbyterian Church, 1220 W Belt Line Rd, Richardson, TX 75080. Registration opens at 9:30 am. Class begins at 10:00 am. Lunch and Q&A/whiteboard session at noon.
Following lunch, you’re invited to participate in a short rally on neighboring Richardson streets to practice some of the concepts introduced in the classroom. A postmortem session will follow back at the church.
For the afternoon rally, any street-legal, four-wheel vehicle may enter. At least two people (a driver and a navigator) are required in each car. Contact [email protected] if you have a minor child (<18) in the car as a form will need to be signed. If you did not come with a partner to this event, we will do our best to pair you up with either another solo entrant or possibly with one of our experienced rallyists. As another option, you may have a chance to ride in the back seat of another team’s car.
The Rally School fee is $5.00 for each individual entrant. There is a $3.00 late fee if you are not preregistered at MotorSportreg.com. The Rally Committee reserves the right to limit entries.

Tulip Time Rally May 25, 2019
Spring road rally created for drivers! It's time again for our spring drive, the Tulip Time Rally! And "drive" is the important word as this will be a driver's rally with curvy roads out in the country. We will take a tour of Collin and Grayson Counties, visiting Gunter, Tom Bean and other out-of-the way places. Course following will be easy. All roads are paved. You will be looking for signs, some with surprising answers as you drive. It will take a sharp eye to see them all. Our Rally Master is Sasha Lanz.
Rally Day is Saturday, May 25. Registration opens at 9:30 am at Chrysler Jeep Dodge City of McKinney, 700 S Central Expy, McKinney, TX 75070, south of Virginia Pkwy on the southbound service road. A Drivers meeting will be held at 10:30 am. The finish will be at the El Fenix in McKinney, two miles south of the dealership. First car starts at 11:01 am.
This is an SCCA GTA (Games, Tours, Adventures) rally. The course is about 100 miles on public roads at legal speeds. Any street-legal, four-wheel vehicle may enter. Teams of three or more cars may form to compete for highest average score. Each car must run its rally independently, with no collaboration with other cars during the rally. At least two people (a driver and a navigator) are required in each car; contact [email protected] if you have a minor child (<18) in the car, as a form will need to be signed.
The Rally Fee is $25.00 for SCCA Members and $30.00 for non-members. There is a $5.00 late fee if you are not preregistered at MotorSportreg.com. The Rally Committee reserves the right to limit entries.

There are four classes: First Timer, Novice (<3 rally trophies), General, and Master (optional class: no trophies given). When you register at MotorsportReg.com, we will add you to the rally mailing list so that we can send you the rally rules a few days before the event.
As a warm up for this rally, we will have a rally school on Saturday, May 18 at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church. Register at http://msreg.com/rrs19. Entry fee is $5 per person. Newsletter Submissions & Distribution Ads, announcements, articles, trip reports and other contributions to the newsletter are encouraged. Email submissions to [email protected]. Attachments may be in .pdf, .txt, Word or WordPerfect format. Pictures may be in any of the usual formats such as .gif, .jpg, png, etc. If I have any problems with document or picture format, I will contact you. Don’t worry about spelling, grammar, artwork, layout, etc. I’m just pleased to receive input and will take care of the editing and cosmetics! Also, if you find something interesting online, please send me the link. Input is welcome anytime, but must be received prior to the publishing deadline (usually the first of the month) to be in the next issue. NOTE: If you want the newsletter sent to more than one email address, your secondary driver, or anyone else, please send your name (so I know you’re a member) and the email address(es) to [email protected]. ANOTHER NOTE: Member in Good Standing (you’ve paid your dues) may submit ad copy or info on their business. Does not have to be a Miata- or car-related business, but it must be your business. Two-Way Radios For more fun on drives, if you don’t have a two-way radio, get one. Without one, you miss out on a lot of chat and decision making as to stops, etc. Most importantly, should you get separated from the group or have car trouble; it makes it much easier for us to find you and assist you! LSMC uses GMRS/FRS radios for better range and reception. An operating license is not required when used in the FRS range.
Stuff for Sale and Announcements LSMC permits all members in good standing to place a free ad or event announcement in the LSMC Newsletter. The item should relate to the Miata or Club activities. This includes activities hosted by other clubs, Car-related events of general interest are also welcome. Contact the editor at [email protected] to place an ad or announcement.
Change of Address & Member Info Be sure to keep your contact information and particularly your email address up-to-date; you don’t want to miss anything!
