Next Monday, November 26, at 7pm a bilingual Mass for families and friends of the incarcerated will be celebrated here at St. Anthony. It will be followed by a small gathering in the St. Anthony Café.

Through prayer and sharing, we open ourselves to God’s healing for ourselves and our loved ones in prison. All are welcome to join us for this special time.

The Readings and their Message

Daniel 12:1–3 This scene is part of the revelation to the prophet Daniel. It reflects the end of times and the resurrection either into a horrible life or a glorious one, hell or heaven. At the time, it was believed that prior to the arrival of the Messiah, there would be immense suffering, so the kingdom of God could come about; and those whose names were written in heaven would be saved. Daniel’s purpose was not to predict the exact moment of the end, but to raise an attitude of hope in the middle of the tribulation.

Hebrews 10:11–14, 18 These verses compare the priesthood in the Old Testament and the priesthood of Christ. They contrast the position taken by the priest, standing before the altar day after day, and the position of the glorious Christ, seated at the right hand of the Father. By sanctifying the faithful through his sacrifice, Christ perfects them to enter the heavenly sanctuary and enables them to participate in the joy of the eternal city.

Mark 13:24–32 The coming of the Son of Man on the clouds announces a new era. The Parousia is presented as the day of the grand gathering of all the people of God, which is why it cannot be a day of fear, but of joy. The Son of Man comes with power and glory, not with fury or destruction. Since no one knows the exact moment of his coming, the community is invited to live in constant awareness.

Social media is one of the leading forms of communication and connection in our world today, but it has dangerous side effects if used carelessly or improperly. Social media platforms can be used to solicit minors, distribute drugs, share pornography and more. If your family does not have a social media safety policy in place, work to establish one immediately. Rules such as no direct messages from anyone you don’t know in person and no private or hidden contact with anyone are important. Establish regular check-ins to make sure that the rules are being followed to see what your children are viewing. Help us keep the poor in our community fed for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Each day people from our parish community come to St. Anthony’s for food and many other services to survive the difficult times they are having. Your help would be very greatly appreciated. Donations may be dropped off in the parish office.

El próximo lunes, 26 de Noviembre a las 7pm se celebrará una misa bilingüe para las familias y amigos de los encarcelados aquí en San Antonio.

A través de la oración y compartimiento, nos abrimos a la sanación de Dios para nosotros y para nuestros seres queridos en prisión.

Habrá una convivencia después en el St. Anthony Café.

Lo siguiente es de “Nuestra Parroquia”

Las lecturas y su mensaje Daniel 12:1–3 Esta escena es parte de la revelación al profeta Daniel. Refleja el final de los tiempos y la resurrección, a una vida terrible o a una vida gloriosa, infierno o cielo. En aquel tiempo, se suponía que antes de la venida del Mesías, tenía que haber un intenso sufrimiento, para que pudiera llegar el reino de Dios; y aquellos cuyos nombres estuvieran escritos en el cielo, serían salvados. La finalidad de Daniel no era predecir el momento exacto del fin, sino suscitar una actitud de esperanza en medio de la tribulación.

Hebreos 10:11–14, 18 Estos versos comparan el sacerdocio en el Antiguo Testamento y el sacerdocio de Cristo. Se contrasta la postura de los sacerdotes, de pie ante el altar día tras día, y la postura de Cristo glorioso, sentado a la derecha del Padre. Cristo, al santificar a los fieles por medio de su sacrificio, los perfecciona para disponerlos a entrar en el santuario celeste y los capacita para participar en el gozo de la ciudad permanente.

Marcos 13:24–32 La llegada del Hijo del Hombre sobre las nubes anuncia una nueva era. La parusía se presenta como el día de la gran reunión de todo el pueblo de Dios; por eso no puede ser un día de miedo, sino de alegría. El Hijo del Hombre viene con poder y gloria, no con furia y destrucción. Como nadie sabe el momento exacto de su llegada, la comunidad está invitada a vivir en constante vigilancia.
