Mil gracias to our loving teachers for making everyone feel so comfortable. The gift of a second language started when you made the decision to come and join us in our wonderful program. Our new school year is off to a great start! We are so pleased that everyone is adjusting well to their new teachers and routines. It is great to see their growing confidence and sense of independence. A thing to consider this first month of school is separation anxiety. Remember that this is a good sign that your child’s development is right on track. Expressing assuredness that school is fun and that you are excited for this opportunity can empower your child to take on this new challenge. We are here for you and your child! In any event, SSH is happy to set up a plan to call you if your child’s anxiety lasts for “too long” and we ALWAYS welcome phone calls to check in on how your child is doing. Volunteering at the school is one of the best ways to get to know your school better and we hope you will consider it sometime this year. We are so excited for the opportunity to teach your child Spanish and we will do everything possible to show you our gratitude for being able to share in this special time in your child’s and your family’s life. Hello Parents, Welcome back to a new school year. My name is Miss Erika and I will be the English teacher for the Argentina and Cost Rica class for this school year. For the month of August the kids and I have been working on introductions and setting class expectations. We have also started to work on the letter Bb and our shapes and colors. Letters of the Month of September: M, D, L, and A. Books: Five little monkeys, Leaves falling down, Ten apples, Do dinosaurs play with their friends?, and more! Songs: We are dinosaurs, Ten little apples. We will be reading a lot of books and will be doing some very exciting activities along with some science experiments. I am very excited about the school year and getting to work with all of the kids. Sincerely, Miss Erika
