GRP TRENCH BOX A lightweight shoring solution for excavations up to 1500mm deep with widths from 620mm to 1420mm. The GRP Trench Box panels create a working area of 1500mm wide and a minimum under strut clearance of 570mm to allow services to pass. Due to the soil arch created by the hydraulic struts, GRP Trench Boxes can be set out with a clear space of up to 1500mm between boxes making an efficient solution for longer trench runs.

Designed to withstand a maximum safe working load of 16.5kN/m², for use in made ground such as soft cohesive and loose granular fill which is generally self-supporting in the short term and where no ground water is present. Use in problematic ground such as very soft clays and silt or peat or in excavations where a high volume of services are expected to cross the trench is not recommended.

The lightweight equipment can be rapidly assembled by hand where access is limited, without the need for an excavator. The hydraulic struts allow the full process to be achieved safely without the requirement for operatives to enter an unsupported trench.

GRP SHEETS AND WALERSA versatile shoring solution designed to horizontally brace trenches for the safe installation of utilities in excavations up to 2000mm deep with widths from 620mm to 1420mm. Frames can be installed continuously for an infinite trench length. The system offers clearance between struts on plan of up to 1800mm to allow access. Subject to design, the clearance below the bottom frame can be up to 600mm to allow services to pass beneath.

Designed to withstand a maximum safe working load of 16.5kN/m², for use in made ground such as soft cohesive and loose granular fill which is generally self-supporting in the short term and where no ground water is present. Use in problematic ground such as very soft clays and silt or peat is not recommended.

The lightweight equipment can be rapidly assembled by hand where access is limited, without the need for an excavator. The hydraulic struts allow the full process to be achieved safely without the requirement for operatives to enter an unsupported trench. ENDSAFE struts are available to close off the ends of a trench providing extra protection from loose materials falling into the excavation.

GRP VERTISHOREA versatile shoring solution designed to be used in small trenches for the safe installation of utilities in excavations up to 2000mm deep with widths from 570mm to 1420mm. GRP Vertishore is available with or without a 500mm backing board and can be provided in lengths of 500mm, 1600mm and 2100mm.

MGF recommend a minimum of 3 units be installed at 1500mm centres, or up to 2000mm centres if hired with a backing board. The system provides a minimum 570mm of clearance below the bottom strut.

Designed for use in made ground such as soft cohesive and loose granular fill which is generally self-supporting in the short term and where no ground water is present.

I can see this product becoming the ‘go to’ system for quick limited access works such as utility and service bursts. The lightweight design and efficient installation make this the best new product I have installed for a long time.

This simple but widely applicable solution will radically improve health and safety in shallower trench excavations. It will potentially instigate a culture change, especially with SME’s and utility operatives.

Effective use of lightweight materials and basic analysis of soil mechanics provides a quick to install and versatile sustainable low cost solution that reduces CO2 emissions and negates the need for plant.
