The Founders event will be held at State Street Financial Center on the evening of Wednesday, November 12, 2014, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

The Founders Celebration was established in 2008 to honor the accomplishments of individuals and organizations best representing MBHP co-founder, William S. Edgerly’s concept of government, nonprofit and for-profit partnerships to develop, promote and preserve affordable housing in Greater Boston. The Founders Event is generously hosted by State Street Corporation. As a result nearly 100% of the funding we raise at the event directly benefits the residents we serve. The event is held at State Street Financial Center, One Lincoln Street, 36th Floor. The Seventh Annual Founders Celebration will be held on November 12, 2014, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Previous Founders Award recipients include:

Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership, Inc. (MBHP)

MBHP’s mission is to ensure that the region's low- and moderate-income individuals and families have choice and mobility in finding and retaining decent, affordable housing; all of our programs and initiatives are designed to encourage housing stability, increase economic self-sufficiency, and enhance the quality of the lives of those we serve. To achieve our mission and to promote efficient service delivery, we work collaboratively with a broad array of service providers and neighborhood-based organizations. We believe that everyone deserves a place to call home.

MBHP was founded in 1983 by business, government, and community leaders to offer technical and financial assistance to local community development corporations helping create nearly 2,000 affordable homes in the City of Boston. In 1991, we began administering federal and state rental assistance vouchers on behalf of the Commonwealth, and until 2008, MBHP administered 60 units of scattered site shelter apartments.

Over time we grew to recognize that to secure stable housing required more than bricks and mortar. As a result MBHP no longer builds or manages physical units and we have significantly expanded our support services to the extent that today MBHP is able to offer a virtual single stop for residents seeking housing assistance.

Today, MBHP is Massachusetts’ largest regional provider of rental assistance and housing support services. MBHP provides rental assistance along with specialized support services to tenants and owners in Boston and 32 surrounding communities. MBHP,

Administers rental assistance to more than 8,800 households,

Partners with more than 4,300 property owners, respond to thousands of housing inquiries each year, and

Handles more than 14,000 housing inquiry calls and walk-ins.

To address any gaps in services, we rely on partnerships with groups and organizations. These collaborations further ensure that residents gain long term stability, not just a “quick fix” answer to their housing needs. Together with our partners, we are constructing a comprehensive network of organizations and individuals committed to success for the families and individuals we serve.
