In�Japan,�growth�has�been�achieved�through�the�focus�of�its�people,�goods,�and�money�into�the�schools�they�go�to,�the�companies�they�work�for,�and�the�places�they�reside.�In�the�United�States,�people�flock�to�large�cities�such�as�New�York�and�San�Francisco�when�they�are�young,�but�in�many�cases�when�they�are�older they�return�to�their�hometown�to�raise�their�children�in�an�environment�abundant�in�open�space�and�nature.�On�the�other�hand,�in�Japan,�many�people�from�the�countryside�relocate�to�Tokyo�for�higher�education�and�stay�there�for�the�remainder�of�their�lives,�making�the�concentration�of�the�capital’s�population�even�more�pronounced.

This�focus�of�people,�goods,�and�money�into�urban�areas�has�resulted�in�a�sense�of�“constraint”.�Numerous�popular�universities�and�famous�companies�are�located�in Tokyo,�and�the�income�and�career�opportunities�are�so�great�that�many�people�fear�that�they�will�be�left�behind�if�they�do�not�relocate�to�the�capital.�As�a�result,�many�are�constrained�to�live�and�work�in�Tokyo�due�to�the�lack�of�local�jobs�available,�even�if�they�would�prefer�to�live�a�peaceful�life�in�a�region�rich�in�nature.

However,�the�spread�of�the�novel�coronavirus�has�been�a�major�turning�point.�Remote�working,�the�adoption�of�electronic�signatures,�and�the�unrelenting�rise�of�digitalization�have�gradually�begun�to�remove�the�restrictions�on�how�we�work�and�where�we�live�from�a�sense�of�“concentration”�to�that�of�“dispersion”.�This�is�not�just�in�regards�to population,�but�to�the�arrival�of�an�"autonomous�decentralized�society"�where�individuals�are�separated�from�companies�and�organisations,�leading�to�living�autonomously�with�authority�and�responsibility.

Against�this�backdrop�of�social�change,�in�August�2020�we�formulated�our�medium-term�management�plan,�"The�Road�To�2025",�and�renewed�our�corporate�vision�to�"Unleash�The�World".�In�order�to�realize�an�autonomous�and�decentralized�society,�we�are�taking�a�unique�approach�as�a�technology�company�to�promote�the�message�of�breaking�through�the�stereotyped�and�constrained�business�and�work�styles�of�the�past,�and redefining�the�way�companies�should�operate�in�the�"age�of�the�individual".

This�concept�is�directly�linked�to�the�SDGs�:�we�believe�that�in�an�autonomous�and�decentralized�society,�everyone�on�the�planet,�including�those�who�are�constrained�for�various�reasons�such�as�groups�belonging�to�minorities,�will�be�free�to�lead�a�fulfilling�life�in�the�pursuit�of�their�happiness�and�goals.�In�our�mid-term�management�plan,�we�announced�the�"Metaps SDGs�Declaration"�to�show�our�support�for�and�commitment�to�the�SDGs,�which�aim�to�realize�a�society�that�is�fully�sustainable.

On�the�first�anniversary�of�our�Metaps SDGs�Declaration"announcement,�we�have�decided�to�publish�the�"SDGs�Report"�in�order�to�provide�you�with�more�detailed�information�on�our�thoughts�and�determination�towards�each�of�the�SDGs,�along�with�the�details�of�our�initiatives.�In�addition�to�the�contributions�made�by�each�of�our�businesses,�we�have�also�developed�internal�systems�and�frameworks�to�support�them,�and will�provide�regular�updates�on�our�progress�with�the�hopes�that�this�report�will�help�to�broaden�the�circle�of�the�SDGs.

As of the end of March 2021 approximately 40% of Kaihi Pay’s registered establishments areoperated independently, with many of them small to medium-sized businesses. With limitedmanpower it is essential to improve the efficiency of complicated administrative tasks, and KaihiPay aims to automate all of said tasks associated with membership services, therefore allowingmerchants to focus on their core business. According to estimates, Kaihi Pay saves approximately185 minutes of administrative work per month for a business with 100 members, which in turn canbe used for activities that further enrich services such as customer relations. With over 3,000merchants and an exceedance of 400,000 in the reduction of application forms, Kaihi Pay is bothpromoting and supporting a cashless and paperless society.

Our vision is to be at the heart of these partnerships, drivingsolutions for advertisers and consumers based on digital marketing that reduces inefficient manual tasks. Freelance�Independence�Support�ProgramCentralized�SaaS�management�tool�“Metaps Cloud”Metaps Cloud was launched in March 2021 as a tool for the centralized managementof SaaS (Software as a Service) used within a company. Metaps Cloud visualizes SaaSusage and assists in the management of employee IDs across numerous platforms,helping to solve issues such as the increased time and cost of managing SaaSaccounts in addition to security risks such as password leaks. In the future the toolalso aims to automate tasks required by the information systems department, suchas the onboarding and offboarding of employees.

From August 2021, we have launched the Freelance Independence Support Program,allowing freelancers to gain experience in their respective field while receivingguaranteed remuneration. By supporting the transition to freelance work that includes astable income, we are contributing to the realization of “decent work” for IT engineers,in which fair income, workplace security, and personal development are integral.

Through the provision of a variety of services that utilize technologies such as AI and blockchain, we will promotethe digitalization and automation of companies that are necessary to transform businesses. We also believe thatsustainable economic and social activities can only be built on the secure protection of information security andpersonal information, so we will contribute to the realization of a safe and secure society by providing innovativecloud services in the area of information security.

New�management�structure�with�40%�female�directors�and�20%�foreign�nationals

In March 2021, three new members of the Board of Directors (Audit and SupervisoryCommittee) were appointed. With the aim of ensuring diversity and strengthening thesupervisory function, two of the three directors were appointed as women and one asa foreign national.

In the interests of the environment and as a precaution against the novel coronavirus,we have switched to an electronic signature service for the stamping and signatureprocedures required when entering or concluding contracts with business partners.At the same time, we are promoting a completely paperless system.

We are working to create an environment where not only women but also men caneasily take parental leave. Some examples include in April 2020, when one maleemployee returned to work after taking approximately three months of parentalleave, and in April 2021, when another male employee returned to work after takingapproximately one year of parental leave.

In July 2021, we moved our head office to WeWork Shibuya Scramble Square, and as aresult we took this opportunity to transition to a new way of working based on remotework.In April 2021, we provided monetary assistance to support employees in theinitial development of a comfortable remote work environment, and also beganproviding a monthly telecommuting allowance of 5,000 yen.

In addition to full-time employees, we allow for a variety of employment types such ascontract workers, part-time employees, and outsourcing. It is also possible to maintaina second job, and we respond flexibly to changes in job type such as from full-time topart-time, from part-time to full-time, and the return of former employees. We havealso established a system of "freelance regular employees" which allows freelancers towork freely while maintaining the stability of regular employees, with two employeescurrently working within this system.
