Tribute to Hannah Hoch-

The camera’s represent the way that women back in the 1900’s weren’t shown the respect that they deserve especially in the art industry and were simply something ‘nice’ to look at with their purposes being to keep the home tidy and look after the children. Even though in Hannah Hoch’s case it was her and not her husband who had to bring home the bacon in their marriage.

Grids-I started by looking into how our finger prints are our own individual grids. I found it interesting how we ourselves are a broken grid, no one alike.

I moved the first image on my scanner, to see how I could manipulate and break the grid and thus changing some-one’s identity.

I took the grid brief further and started thinking about how we leave our finger prints everywhere. Leaving a type of invisible trace of our lives.Next I looked at mugs/cups/glasses and how we leave a personal print onto them as well, not just in the way we hold them but also the amount of times they are washed and re-used over and over again.

Shooting Stars -I first thought of the idea for the Chilean Miners that a mole was already previously living down in the mines ruling it as his kingdom and then when the miners were trapped down there he forced them to become his slaves and terrorised them in the darkness.

I settled on the French pension scandal and how its been risen from 60 years to 62. I looked into the idea of what if they kept rising and rising it until ‘your always too young’ to receive it.

Different ways to tell a story brief-I choose the narrative of brushing my teeth. I wanted to put a evil twist on the every-day task and instead of there being minty fresh toothpaste inside the Colgate packet there would be mud.I decided to create the experiment myself and collected mud from my garden and then filled the empty packet of toothpaste up with it. I used it to spell out words refer-ring to the task of brushing your teeth.

I took this expeiment a step further by making stencils which show images that consumers feel safe with and turned that message into disgust.

Persuation Brief-Here are three screen shots from the video that Dani, Richard and I created for the Persuation Brief. You can find the full video at www.chloelovesyou.tumblr.com and the post is labeled Persuasion Brief and was posted on the 9th Decmeber 2010. The video itself is called Untitled. A few persuations we tried were things such as running out and then laying infront of people as they were walking along or we walked up to strangers and stood directly in front of them thus obstructing their space and making them stop.
