Nominations and Interview Process in January
Nominations for JKB are open to current sophomores who meet the following criteria:
• Have a grade point average of 2.5 or higher (out of 4 points)
• Are members of a school sponsored athletic team
• Are members of organizations -school, community or religious
• ARE ALREADY PERCEIVED AS
POSITIVE LEADERS & MENTORS BY THEIR PEERS

• Eligibility• Checked every week on Monday morning.• Must be passing 5 classes.• Spring eligibility
• Eligibility is based on 1st Semester grades.• MUST have passed 5 classes.

• By Law, we must pull an athlete out of contest if they present with any of the concussion signs & symptoms
• Headache, dizziness, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, sensitivity to noise, nausea, etc. • Athletes while be under a physicians care and will be placed into the Return to Learn Protocol• Once symptom free, completion of RTL and return to baseline on their IMPACT test they will
proceed with RTP protocol:• B ike• R un• A gility• I “in red” aka non-contact• N ormal practice • G ame• Athlete must be symptom-free at each stage to proceed to the next

Please note that even with a Doctor’s clearance note, all athletes must still complete the four step return to play protocol.

• Please keep in mind that the coaches are…• 1st – Family Members – a husband, wife, parent, sibling, etc…• 2nd – Teachers – this is their career, passion and 1st
responsibility• 3rd – Coaches – this is an additional part of their teaching day
• We ask that communication to anyone from the athletic department is done in a professional manner

We encourage you to follow the guidelines listed with communication with coaches:
• 24 hour rule
• Protocol for communication with coaches…
• 1 – Have your son or daughter talk to the coach first
• “Have you talked to the coach about this?”
• 2 - Contact the level coach to set up a meeting with the level coach, son or daughter and yourself
• 3 – Meeting with Athletic Director, head coach, level coach, son or daughter and yourself
