Thanks for Going the Extra Mile to “Cram the Van”9th Annual School Supply Drive Was a Big Success

Kids are back at their desks with new pencils, notebooks and other key supplies in hand – thanks to another successful “Cram the Van” school supply drive! We couldn’t have done it without your generous donations and the support of Fagan Automotive, which provided the vans to fi ll with supplies and helped Blackhawk spread the word about this great cause.

Blackhawk is happy to report that 100% of the supplies and money generated through the event were distributed to children in need at the following area schools:

• Jackson Elementary in Janesville• Wileman Elementary in Delavan• Milton East Elementary in Milton• Edgerton Community Outreach• St. Ann’s Elementary in Stoughton

Thank you to the countless members and local businesses that helped us “Cram the Van” and gave so many students a great start to their school year. We appreciate your support!

Trick or Treat at Blackhawk on October 30 & 31

Halloween is coming, and we’re defi nitely not afraid to get into the spooky spirit! Our branches will be decorated, and we’ll be in costume, ready to welcome you with treats on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31, during our normal business hours.

We hope you and your little ghosts and goblins can join us for the fun and candy. We love getting to see the costumes — and our members!

Annual Members Appreciation Picnic Was Groovy

Peace and love to our members! We appreciate you just as much now as we did back in the ‘60s when we opened our doors at Blackhawk. Our Member Appreciation Picnic on Saturday, September 19, took us right back to those days with a ‘60s tie-dye theme and live music from the era.

Thanks to the many members who came to hang loose with us at our Court Street branch and enjoy the food and fun!

Jason Roth Attends National Cooperatives ProgramJason Roth (pictured third from left) learned about cooperatives, leadership and team building as part of a youth delegation to the National Institute on Cooperative Education (NICE) in July.

Blackhawk is very involved in our community and particularly loves to support the education of our local youth. This summer, we were pleased to provide funding to help Jason Roth — whose parents are both members of Blackhawk — attend NICE at Virginia Tech.

Roth, a Wisconsin Future Farmers of America (FFA) offi cer, was part of this year’s youth delegation to NICE by the Cooperative Network. For 87 years, NICE has existed to inform students about cooperatives and the role they play in their communities. This national program helps students gain a deeper understanding of cooperative business principles, develop leadership skills and network with young leaders from across the country.

Congratulations on being selected for this incredible experience, Jason!
