    YOUTHBy: Samuel Ullman

Youth is not a time of life - it is a state of mind,It is a temper of the will,A quality of the imagination,A vigor of the emotions,A predominance of courage over timidity,Of the appetite for adventure over love of ease.

Nobody grows old by merely living a number of years.People grow old only by deserting their ideals.Years wrinkle the skin,But to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.

Worry, doubt, self-distrust,Fear and despair - these are the long,Long years that bow the head andTurn the growing spirit back to dust.

Whether they are sixteen or seventy,There is in every being's heartThe love of wonder,The sweet amazement at the starsAnd starlike things and thoughts,The undaunted challenge of events,

The unfailing childlike appetiteFor what is to come next,And the joy and the game of life.

You are as young as your faith,As old as your doubt; As young as your self-confidence,As old as your fear,As young as your hope,As old as your despair. When the wires are all down

And all the innermost core of your heartIs covered with the snows of pessimismAnd the ice of cynicism,Then you are grown old indeed. But so long as your heart receives messagesOf beauty, cheer, courage, grandeurAnd power from the earth,From man and from the Infinite,So long you are young.

    QUIESCENT NO MOREBy Gerald Galindez

Harvest first the master saysFamine stricken throat for daysBrought the end of farmers toil

    Again United with his soil

Comfort of a market shadeHome of all the beggars frayed

Talking wounds on fleshless kneesThat is what they meant of peace

Collecting broken dreams, a houseOf Harlots forced to work with sows

Make-up hides the swollen ductsClient undresses and locks

Bustling cars of justice menDoes his job from ten to ten

Meets the youth to sell his drugsremits to political rugs

Precious vault the greedy ownsMoney in his blood and bonesHunger knocks his shiny FordMocks away the poor ignored

Peaceful yet it harrows youIf justice hides what should you do

For a youth that serves to GodMust you share our Jesus' blood

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peacethere maybe in silence.

As far as possible without surrender, be on good terms with all

    persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly, listen to others, even the dulland ignorant they, too, have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons; they are vexations to thespirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain or

bitter; for always there will be a greater and lesser persons thanyourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested inyour own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the

    changing fortunes of times.

Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full oftrickery, but let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many

persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full ofheroism.

Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial

    as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering thethings of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune butdo not distress yourself with imagining. Many fears are born of

    fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are achild of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars, you

have a right to be here. And whether or not it is to you, no doubtthe universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him tobe, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy

confusion of life, keep peace with your soul. With all its sham,

drudgery, and broken dreams; it is still a beautiful world.

Be careful. Strive to be happy.

    DESIDERATA II

In whatever religion you have been taughtHowever you have been brought up, and

However you have understood your teachers

On these levels you will understand and grasp this message. It is not enough that this message be believed. It is a message tobe lived. The essence of universal religion is peace and truth, withlove for all and kindness to all the creatures of the earth. Now it isthe time to express this essence in your life. A beginning must bemade, and the place to begin is with and in yourself. You wouldreform the world? Begin with yourself brother! The message of

the unreformed reformer seldom inspires reformation. The heartof all religion is love.

Love not only family and friends! For love limited is lovedenied. Seek peace within yourself and seek, too, within yourselfand divine breath of life. Persist in these things! Do not let up fora single moment!

Through your faith and through your deeds you shape yourlife and shape the lives of others, as well. What a responsibility!

The spirit finds in you its agent and also its partner, and to thedegree that you are aware of this and act on it, your life isenriched. A revelation will occur to you a revelation higher thanyour most exalted dreams.

The new age is coming, and in it there will be realization ofthe oneness of all. Differences between the various religions will

disappear. The good, which is in each of them will be fused andwill become the common goal of all mankind. Know that you havethe power to choose Choose love, not hate. Choose gentleness, not violence; Choose holiness, not evil! Dare to believe that the

religion of love and peace is coming soon! Ready yourself for it!

Ready yourself for it with deed of righteousness.Righteousness is the door opener and beyond the door is love.May the power divine enter the aspect of your life endowing itwith the rewards of material accomplishments, the treasure ofpurposeful existence, and the eternal light of spiritual life?

92YEAROLDPREACHERWhile watching a little TV on Sunday instead of going to church, I

watched a church in Atlanta honoring one of its senior pastorswho had been retired many years. He was 92 at that time and I

wondered why the church even bothered to ask the old

gentleman to preach at that age.

After a warm welcome, introduction of this speaker, and as theapplause quieted down, he rose from his high back chair and

walked slowly, with great effort and a sliding gait to the podium.Without a note or written paper of any kind he placed both hands

on the pulpit to steady himself and then quietly and slowly hebegan to speak.... When I was asked to come here today and

talk to you, your pastor asked me to tell you what was the

greatest lesson ever learned in my 50-odd years of preaching. Ithought about it for a few days and boiled it down to just onething that made the most difference in my life and sustained methrough all my trials. The one thing that I could always rely on

when tears and heartbreak and pain and fear and sorrowparalyzed me... the only thing that would comfort was this

    verse........ ....

Jesus loves me this I know. For the Bible tells me so.Little ones to Him belong,

we are weak but He is strong.....Yes, Jesus loves me....The Bible tells me so.

When he finished, the church was quiet. You actually could hearhis foot steps as he shuffled back to his chair. I don't believe I willever forget it. A pastor once stated, I always noticed that it wasthe adults who chose the children's hymn 'Jesus Loves Me' (for

the children of course) during a hymn sing, and it was the adults

who sang the loudest because I could see they knew it the best.

    A Creed to live by

Dont undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others,It is because we are different that each of us is special.

Dont set your goals by what other people deem important,Only you know what is best for you.

Dont take for granted the things closest to your heart,Cling to them as you would your life,

Without them life is meaningless.Dont let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past

nor in the future.By living your life one day at a time,You live all the days of your life.

Dont give up when you still have something to give.Nothing is really over until you stop trying.

Dont be afraid to encounter risks. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave.

Dont shut love out of your life by saying it is impossible to find.

    The quickest way to receive love is to give love,The fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly;

And the best way to keep love is to give it wings.Dont dismiss your dreams.

To be without a dream is to be without hope;To be without hope is to be without purpose.

Dont run through life so fast thatYou forget not only where youve been,

But also where you are going.

Life is not a race, but a journey to be savored

    each step of the way.

    HOWTOSTAYYOUNG

    1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight andheight. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them'

    2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

    3. Keep learning.Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.'And the devil's name isAlzheimer's.

    4. Enjoy the simple things.

    5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

    6. The tears happen.Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who iswith us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

    7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever.Your home is yourrefuge.

    8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it.If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the

    IT IS STRANGE ISN'T IT.....

Isn't it strange how a 50 peso bill seems like such a large amount when you donate

it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church,

and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying

but... You have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible

but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they

do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks beforethe day so we can include it in our agenda,

but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

    Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others;

but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say

but..... we question the words in the Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven

but... they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and texts then they are

forwarded right away but when we are going to send messages about God, we

think about it twice before we share it with others?

Please take a stand for God. Pray for the power and presence of the Holy Spirit in your life. Take a stand for the Gospel.

Witness to the whole world that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died for humankind to save us all from bondage to sin

    and its consequence. Let's proclaim the saving love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to all people (Romans 10:9-10;

    Galatians 2:10; Acts 16:31; 20:24).

    A Brief Prayer of Acceptance

Almighty God, my loving heavenly Father, thank you for sending your only Son to live and die for me - and mostespecially to rise from the dead to give me salvation and eternal life. I accept and believe my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ

with all my heart. Please bless me with the indwelling of the Holy Spirit so I can live my new life of discipleship and

stewardship, fellowship and worship, mission and service for your honor and glory. In the name of my Lord and Savior

    Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen.

Life is too short to wake up with regrets.

So love the people who treat you right.Love the ones who don'tjust because you can. Believe everything happens for a reason. If

you get a second chance, grab it with both hands. If it changes

your life, let it.Kiss slowly. Forgive quickly.God never said lifewould be easy.He just promised it would be worth it.

It is good to be a WOMAN:

A SHOCKING PRAYERWhen Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of

the Kansas Senate, everyone was expecting the usualgeneralities, but this is what they heard:

"Father, we come before you today to ask yourforgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know

Your Word says, "Woe to those who call evil good", but that isexactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibriumand reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. Wehave rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed ourunborn and called it choice. We have shot anti-abortionists andcalled it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children

and called it building self esteem. We have abused power andcalled it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions andcalled it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity andpornography and called it freedom of expression. We have

ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called itenlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse usfrom every sin and set us free. Amen!"

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walkedout during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central

Christian Church, where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding

negatively. The church is now receiving international requests forcopies of this prayer from India, Africa and Korea. CommentatorPaul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, "The Rest ofthe Story," and received a larger response to this program than

any other he has ever aired. With the Lord's help, may this prayersweep over our nation and whole-heartedly become our desire so

that we again can be called: "one nation under God."

that for every minute that we close our eyes, we waste 60 seconds of light. Iwould walk while others stop; I would awake while others sleep. If God would give me a little bit more of life, I would dress in a simplemanner, I would place myself in front of the sun, leaving not only my body, but my soul naked at its mercy. If God would give me a little bit more oflife, I would dress in a simple manner, I would place myself in front of thesun, leaving not only my body, but my soul naked at its mercy. To all , Iwould say how mistaken they are when they think that they stop falling inlove when they grow old, without knowing that they grow old when they stopfalling in love.I would give wings to children, but I would leave it to them tolearn how to fly by themselves. To old people I would say that death doesn'tarrive when they grow old, but with forgetfulness. I have learned so muchwith you all, I have learned that everybody wants to live on top of themountain, without knowing that true happiness is obtained in the journeytaken & the form used to reach the top of the hill. I have learned that when anewborn baby holds, with its little hand, his father's finger, it has trappedhim for the rest of his life. I have learned that a man has the right andobligation to look down at another man, only when that man needs help toget up from the ground. Say always what you feel, not what you think. If Iknew that today is the last time that that I am going to see you asleep, Iwould hug you with all my strength and I would pray to the Lord to let me bethe guardian angel of your soul.If I knew that these are the last momentsto see you, I would say "I love you". There is always tomorrow, and life givesus another opportunity to do things right, but in case I am wrong, and todayis all that is left to me, I would love to tell you how much I love you & that Iwill never forget you. Tomorrow is never guaranteed to anyone, young or

old. Today could be the last time to see your loved ones, which is why youmustn't wait; do it today, in case tomorrow never arrives. I am sure you willbe sorry you wasted the opportunity today to give a smile, a hug, a kiss, andthat you were too busy to grant them their last wish. Keep your loved onesnear you; tell them in their ears and to their faces how much you need themand love them. Love them and treat them well; take your time to tell them "Iam sorry";" forgive me"," please, "thank you", and all those loving wordsyou know! Nobody will know you for your secret thought. Ask the Lord forwisdom and strength to express them. Show your friends and loved oneshow important they are to you.

that those who spend their time protecting others are theones that really need someone to protect them?

Did you know that the three most difficult things to say

are:I love you, Sorry and help meDid you know that those who dress in red are more

confident in themselves? Did you know that those whodress in yellow are those that enjoy their beauty? Did youknow that those who dress in black, are those who wantto be unnoticed and need your help and understanding?Did you know that when you help someone, the help is

returned in two folds? Did you know that it's easier to saywhat you feel in writing than saying it to someone in the

face? But did you know that it has more value when you say it

to their face?Did you know that if you ask for something in faith, your

wishes are granted? Did you know that you can make yourdreams come true, like falling in love, becoming rich,

staying healthy, if you ask for it by faith, and if you reallyknew, you'd be surprised by what you could do.

But don't believe everything I tell you, until you try it for

    The Paradox of Our Times

Today we have bigger houses yet smaller families. More convenience, but less time. We havemore degrees, but less common sense. More knowledge, but less judgment. We have more

experts, but more problems. More medicine, but less good health. We spend too recklessly. Laughtoo little. Drive too fast. Get too angry too quickly. Stay up too late. Read too little. Watch TV too

much and are less considerate. We have multiplied our possessions, but have reduced ourvalues. We talk too much, love too little and lie too often. We have learned how to make a living,

but not a life. We have added years to life, but not life to years. We have taller buildings, butshorter tempers. Wider roads, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less. We buy

more, yet enjoy it less. We have been all the way to the moon and back but have trouble crossingthe road to meet our neighbors. Weve conquered our outer space, but not our inner space. Wevesplit the atom but not our prejudice. We write more, learn less, plan more, but accomplish less.We have learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals. We build

more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies but have less personalcommunication.

We are long on quantity, but less in quality. These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion.Tall men and short character. More leisure but less fun - more kinds of food - but less nutrition.

Two incomes - but more divorce. Nicer houses - but broken homes. That is why I propose , that asof today , you do not keep anything for special occasions , because every day you live is a special

occasion. Search for knowledge, read more. Sit and admire the view without paying attention toyour needs. Spend more time with your family and friends, eat your favorite food and visit the

places you love. Life is moments of enjoyment and not just about surviving. Drink from the finestcrystal glass. do not save your best perfume or aftershave but use it every day. Remove phraseslike one of these days , someday and not now from your vocabulary write that letter you

thought of writing one of these days Lets tell our families and friends how much we love them.Do not delay anything that adds laughter and joy to your life. Every day, every hour, and every

    minute is special.

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.Happy moments, praise God.Difficult moments, seek God.Quiet moments, worship God.Painful moments, trust God.Every moment, thank God.

The Lords PrayerI cannot say, OUR if my religion has no room for other people

and their needs.I cannot say, FATHER If I do not demonstrate this relationship in

my daily life.I cannot say, WHO ARE IN HEAVEN if all my interests and

pursuits are earthly things.I cannot say, HOLLOWED BE THY NAME if I, who am called by His

name, am not holy.I cannot say, THY KINGDOM COME if I am not willing to give up

my sovereignty and accept the reign of God.I cannot say, THY WILL BE DONE if I am resentful of having Himin my life.

I cannot say, ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN unless I am trulyready to give up myself to His service here and now.

I cannot say, GIVE US THIS DAY OUR DAILY BREAD withoutspending honest effort for it or by ignoring needs of my fellow men.

I cannot say, FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OURDEBTORS if I continue to harbor grudge against anyone.

I cannot say, LEAD US NOT INTO TEMPTATION is I deliberatelychoose to remain in a situation where I am likely tempted.

I cannot say, DELIVER US FROM EVIL if I am not prepared tofight in the spiritual realm with the weapon of prayer.I cannot say, THINE IS THE KINGDOM, THE POWER, THE GLORY

FOREVER if I do not live disciplined obedience, and I fear whatneighbors and friends may say or do, and seek my own glory first.

I cannot say, AMEN unless I can honestly say also, cost what itmay, this is my prayer.
