A man was walking down the beach one day and came acrosshundreds of tiny starfish that had washed up on shore. He immediatelybegan to pick up as many as he could and throw them back in theocean. He repeated this over and over, until another man walked upand asked him what he was doing. Isn’t it obvious, said the man. Allthese starfish will die if we won’t get them back in the water. Pleasehelp me.

The second man replied. What is the use? You will never be ableto get them all back in the water. So what difference does it make? Theman bent down, picked up just one starfish and tossing it back into thewater said, It makes a difference to this one.

Yes. We. Can. These three words of Barak Obama made the historyof American election different. “If you think you cant, you are right,you cant”, says Henry Ford. By God’s grace, yes, we can – this is themantra we have to recite. What is impossible with man is possiblewith God (Lk. 18:27). With God all things are possible (Mt. 19:26).With St. Paul we can say, “I can do everything through him who givesme strength”. (Phil. 4:13)

Jesus could make a difference in the lives of people through hisword and deed. Being his associates, we have a mission to be changeagents to heal the wounded world. Change is a fact of life. Whenwinds of change blow, some run for shelter, some build windmills .Jesus Christ is the greatest change master the world has ever seen.

change in terms of appointments and transfers. Any breakthrough inlife demands a break with. A new place presents a bundle ofopportunities to establish a new web of relationships. Even in a newsetting, if we don’t change the direction we are headed we will endup where we are going (Chinese saying).

June begins with a new academic year in our institutions. Let usbe different in our educational mission to give our students anopportunity to do things they’ve never done earlier, unforgettablejourneys and a great divine experience. With professional will andpersonal humility, we can script success stories with new expeditionsand experiments in the land we have been sent. In our experiments,we don’t really make a mistake, but we make a new learning. At thesame time let us be vigilant not to make the same mistake again.

Continuous learning is the winning currency to stay confidentin today’s fast changing world. We have no reason to be complacentto stop trying to become qualified for the mission we are engaged in.The tragedy is that we follow the philosophy that shoemaker’s childrenhave no shoes. Life is an onward journey. There are many ways ofgoing forward but only one way of standing still.

We know the battle ahead will be long, but always rememberthat no matter what obstacles stand in our way, nothing can withstandthe power of the Spirit calling for change. Be careful what you wishfor, it may come true.

While we dedicate ourselves to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, let uspray: Jesus, meek and humble of heart, make my heart like untoThine. Sacred Heart of Jesus Thy Kingdom Come.

DEVAMATHA CMI PUBLIC SCHOOL - THRISSURSummer Camp

Devamatha school has opened its portals for the children ofThrissur (Dt.). 569 children from 9 different schools attend theSummer Camps held in 20 items. The camp began on 1st April andgot over on 15th May 2011.

Re-Union

It was a happy re-union for the members of Devamatha familywhen the staff came back to Devamatha on 2nd May. The newProvincial and Manager Rev. Fr. Paul Achandy CMI was given ahearty welcome by the staff members. The 27 new members werealso given a warm welcome by offering a rose bud each. In his addressto the teachers, Fr. Paul exhorted the teachers to accompany thestudents in their life journey and to have a missionary approach.Refresher Course

The staff of Devamatha CMI Public School will attend variousmotivational and informative classes by Rev. Dr. Cyriac KanichaiCMI held on 3rd & 4th of May threw light to Philosophy & Vedicteachings. Followed by this, Rev. Fr. Paul Pottackal CMI notedCounsellor interacted with the teachers and oriented them with theproblems they face in their classes. The arangettam of fifty of our students was conducted on 18 thFebruary 2011 under the auspices of the Devamatha Academy ofClassical Dance.Padmashree Kalamandalam Kshemavathy was thechief guest of the day.Rev.Fr. George Pius Ukken CMI blessed the‘Chelangas’ and kalamandalam Kshemavathy presented it to thestudents.Mrs.Nalini Chandran ,Director Sobha Academy, inspired thechildren with her thought provoking speech .The dignitaries on thestage blessed the children. The solemn yet colourful ceremony wasanother milestone in the history of Devamatha.ACMI Camp

A two day camp was conducted for the students who won thescholarship at Devamatha CMI Public School on 2nd and 3rd May2011. The camp included leadership training classes, sports, culturalcompetitions and a tour. Around 200 students attended the camp

GLORIOUS RESULT AT CHRIST ACADEMYThe first batch of CHRIST ACADEMY to appear for the ICSE

board has scored a hit.26 students had appeared for the ICSE boardexam.

The results are:

100% Distinction

50% of the students scored high distinction with A Grade while8 students scored above 90%.

The means score of our school honour with A grade, highdistinction.

Bhargav D Sanketi and Sneha James stand at first position with96%, which is the highest percentage in Bangalore region.

On Easter Monday, 25th April 2011, all the Preshitha provinceFathers joined with the Devamatha Fathers and brothers working inKenya in Mikumbune Parish presbytery for the celebration of theEaster and to celebrate the feast day of Fr. George Puthenchira whois also the Fr. In-Charge of Mikubune parish. The ceremony beganwith a bible service in the parish church. Fr. Anto Thekuddan presidedover the service followed by a short reflection and intercessory prayersby the Fathers and borthers. After the bible service, all proceeded tothe presbytery. They sang a greeting song wishing Fr. George thefeasterian, a happy feast and God’s blessings. Amidst cheer andjubilation Fr. George cut the feast cake. He received the festal gifts

MADAGASCAR NEWS

Recently CMIs and their works were recognised by theMadagascar Church. Fr. Paul Moses was asked by the EpiscopalCommission for interreligious dialogue to guide a National Seminarthat was held from May 3 to May 7. Fr. Paul Moses had to handle 4conferences. The first conference was headed by the President of theCommission, Archbishop Dr Fulgence Rabeony S. J. and the finaltalk and closing ceremony was by Papal Nuncio of Madagascar.

Fr. Paul Moses was chosen just by the Providence of God. Fr.Paul Moses was one among the animators in the beginning. But finallyFr. Paul Moses was chosen by the Commission to guide the Seminar,since others could not come. Fr. Paul Moses could present our work

in Morondava diocese and the main themes of his Thesis that Fr.Paul Moses wrote while he was in Paris 2001-2003.His theme wasDialogue with the Religious Traditions (Culture and Philosophy ofMalagasy) of Madagascar for Evangelisation.

The copies of talks were duplicated and given to all therepresentatives of the 22 dioceses. When Nuncio came he was carryingone copy of talks, which was given to him by the Secretary Generalbefore the assembly, and he highly appreciated his work. The textwas in French but all his talks were in Malagasy language. The Thesiswas thrown away in 2005 when Fr. Paul Moses went to Canada, andFr. Paul Moses did not have even a copy. The studies throughout hislife were always useless. But the Commission made several copiesfrom text recorded in computer and distributed. This is a recognitionto all CMIs working in Madagascar.

We had a group Marriage celebration of 17 couples in our Parishof Ambohipeno. Fr Louis Raj worked with Mother Theresa Sistersfor the success of the celebration. They (Couples) are from poorfamilies. Mother Theresa sisters support them with nuptial vestmentsand food items.

We are moving to winter. Our temperature may go down to +4C and there will be no snow. But we feel very cold since we do nothave any heating system and perfectly closed windows and doors.
