Advice from Campus Health Services by Robbin Boadway RN, MSN-L and Sandi Smith, MD Campus Health Services It’s not always possible to know when an illness might be worse than we anticipate. Complications can be completely unexpected and might be dependent on factors such as our age, our general health prior to getting ill, the germ causing our illness, or a varying combination of other factors that might not be in our control. While it may sound scary, sometimes what appears to be a typical illness may morph into something more serious—and we can’t always predict it. If your student is feeling is ill and is uncertain what to do, it is never wrong to seek medical attention. Campus Health Services is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. (9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Wednesday) and most Saturdays during the semester from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Students can either make an appointment to see a provider or stop into the clinic at their convenience. Depending on the findings, medications might be prescribed. Most importantly, remind your student to listen carefully to the medical instructions they receive, ask questions if they don’t understand something, and follow through with their provider’s suggested plan of care. 928-523-6267 [email protected] nau.edu/backpack Manage your preferences | Opt out using TrueRemoveGot this as a forward?
