Message from the President…….

We made it to July and we are half way through 2020, a year that has brought to us many first. Some are first time or new ways of conducting our real estate business.

These are unprecedented times. COVID-19 has disrupted lives with health concerns, financial struggles,

and restrictions on activities. Amidst this uncertainty, real estate professionals, buyers, sellers, landlords, tenants, and investors are trying to figure out the best course forward.

Texas REALTORS® has followed suit from The National Association of REALTORS® and is going Virtual with our 2020 Conference and Expo. This gives GMWAR REALTORS® the opportunity to attend and take advantage of the education offered without the expense of travel and accommodations. I think this great opportunity will increase our attendance. When registration opens up, take advantage and be a part of The Texas REALTORS® Conference and Expo 2020. We can make this a record year for attendance. At this time all events through Texas REALTORS® have gone Virtual until 2021. At that time they will re-evaluate.

Our GMWAR Membership Luncheon is on the Calendar for July 23. We are taking all precautions available to us to make it safe for all and will be doing things a bit differently. There will be no one collecting money at a registration table, all will be paid in advance with your RSVP (in an effort to limit contact that might spread Covid-19). There will be no more than 100 people in attendance and all food is pre-packaged. We will continue to monitor the RSVPs to be sure it is feasible to have the luncheon. Please make your reservations as soon as possible. ( Door Prize tickets will still be on sale at the luncheon)

We have overcome so much this year and made it through the first six months. I predict that the second six months will bring us wisdom and understanding of the new ways we maneuver through our industry. We are stronger than we think.

Have a save and fun July 4th holiday and God bless you all.

GMWAR Office Re-Open Policy & Procedures

To ensure business continuity and delivery of first-class (member) services, while demonstrating care for staff (and members) welfare, reducing the risk of exposure to and spread of COVID-19, and following our mission and vision, the following policies &

procedures have been put in place.

Effective July 1, 2020

• GMWAR office entry hours will be 10:00am to 2:00pm without an appointment or scheduled meeting ( class,

committee, etc.)

appointment only will continue on without change.

• Meeting rooms will be cleaned/disinfected prior to and following classes, meetings, etc. ( includes tables, chairs,

doorknobs, light switches, plumbing fixtures, etc.)

• Meeting rooms have been reconfigured to promote social

distancing.

• The use of shared tools, such as remote control is

discouraged.

• Building member/guest access is limited to 50% of capacity.

• GMWAR recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain. Wearing a cloth face covering, however, does

not replace the need to practice social distancing.

• Points of entry for staff and members will be controlled, limiting the number permitted in the building to allow for

social distancing.

• A hand sanitizing station will be located at the main entrance to the building in an effort to promote personal hygiene

protocol reminders.

6 Tips for Text Message Marketing

If you currently use text messages to market or are

thinking of jumping in, consider the following do’s

and don’ts

Do Get Permission: no one likes unsolicited marketing messages, without permission is illegal. Consent must be in writing.

Do Give a way to Unsubscribe: let people know upfront how to get off your marketing list

Do let people know what they will get: tell prospects and clients what kind of information and how frequently they can expect to hear from you

Do have a reason to text: provide people with information that is valuable to them, not just merely reminding them that you can help them

Don’t go on and on: text messages work best if they are brief communications

Don’t ignore responses: Be ready to answer, the quicker you respond the more value you provide and the more likely the exchange will benefit you as well
