Summer is almost here, whatever that means here

in the Pacific Northwest. But at least we are not

getting snow that has buried some parts of the

country. If it would only dry out a little, we could

exercise our Corvettes. So if you have connections,

please put in a request for good weather. The

parade & Corvette show season is almost here.

At our last meeting, I outlined my three main

priorities for next year. Here is a short summary of

each and my approach to achieving them.

1. Increase membership in GOCC. This will be

accomplished by:

a. Outreach to former members.

b. Effective marketing of GOCC

c. Members recruiting members. As an

incentive, I am proposing a raffle prize at next

year’s annual banquet. You get a chance to

win for each new member you recruit. The

more new members you get, more chances

to win. In order to fund this, I am proposing

elimination of the Hidden Number drawing in

the newsletter. There was a time where this

was used to enhance readership of the

newsletter, but it has outlived its usefulness.

All of our club functions should be focused on

our strategic objectives.

2. Sponsor our Sponsors. The relationship we have

with our sponsors needs to be strengthened and we

can do that by making them successful and

promoting the goods and services they offer.

3. Enhance the Fun Factor. We are looking at new

and creative events to make your GOCC experience

exceptional. As a start, the mini mystery cruises will

be starting again. So weather permitting, bring your

Corvette to the next meeting and be prepared for a

mini cruise immediately after the meeting. If you

know of a good route for a cruise, talk to Dave Van

Asten about leading one.

Corvette of the Month

We bought the Vette in September 2012. She had just under 50,000 miles on the odometer. She is a 350 automatic, t-top, all original except the paint.

I was originally looking for a Harley Davidson but couldn't find one that I liked in my price range. I kept thinking that for the amount I would pay for the Harley that I wanted, I could buy a Corvette instead. After looking at a "Corvettes For Sale" website and finding several Corvettes that I liked but that were too far away, Caeleigh suggested I

take a look at Craigslist. I was somewhat skeptical that I would find one there but as always, Caeleigh was right. Not only did I find one, but it was a C3 which is what I was looking for.

What was even better was that the couple that was selling it lived in Port Orchard. I gave them a call on Friday and we agreed that Caeleigh and I would go see it on Sunday. I had been thinking of offering them a lower price, but after I saw it and seeing how awesome it looked, I told Caeleigh that I just couldn't do it. She agreed with me and we agreed to pay the asking price. We already had a pre-approved loan so all we had to do was have the check mailed to us so we could make the purchase. We received the check the following Tuesday, September 11th.

This day being such as dark day in our country's

Trivia Question

This month’s question is what was the first year that

Corvette air conditioners were offered? Answer is in

News & Information from page 3

history, at first made me somewhat sad about having such a great event in my life coincide with it. Then Caeleigh, being the smart woman that she is, told me that this could be our way of celebrating how this is the greatest country in the world and how lucky we are to live in it. After she said that, I realized she was right...again.

I saw my first Corvette in person when I was about 8 years old. I don't know what year it was, but it was a C3. It was sitting there with its hood open and I remember thinking that it was soooo fast that the hood had to open backwards or else it would be blown off from the force of the wind. Around that time, I saw "Corvette Summer" with Mark Hamill and Annie Potts. Once again, I was in awe at how awesome that car looked.

When I was a sophomore in high school, I worked a local grocery store as a sacker/stocker. One of our store managers had a C3 Corvette. It was a later C3 model because it had the large rear window. One night I was the senior employee when I heard the manager call me to the front desk. He asked me if I could go to the owner's house to pick up some camping gear. When I told him I didn't have a car, he looked at me and smiled. He took a deep breath and very reluctantly handed me the keys to his Corvette. He gave me a very stern look and said, "Be extremely careful!" I couldn't believe it... I was going to drive his car. He told me not to speed. Little did he know that I was going to drive extremely slow so I could enjoy every single second of that drive.

I've had a love and passion for the Corvette for as long as I can remember. Now, I have my very own and will keep it forever. The good thing about having the Corvette over the Harley is that Caeleigh gets to drive it too. It's something that we can both enjoy and something that can be driven more than a motorcycle. the newsletter. (There's a hidden 63 Grand Sport for fun too.)

Don't Drip & Drive. Fix That Leak!

This April, improve your cars safety and reliability by checking for vehicle leaks. Every drip counts-even a single drop of oil on your driveway can have a negative impact on the life of your car. GOCC Corvette Summer Car Show Here Comes Da Judge…

Or rather, would you like to be a judge in the upcoming GOCC Corvette Summer Car Show? We have arranged for a special training session with two NWACC judges to run us through the process. The training will be held at 6:00 on May 2nd, at our Fire Station meeting place, one hour before the regular meeting. The NWACC reps will discuss the judging criteria and methods for evaluating Corvettes in car shows. The training will be a good help for all of us that will aid us in detailing our Corvettes. We need 12 judges for our car show, so please consider attending this training.

Grey Chevrolet Port Orchard

has an allocation for 4 2014 Corvettes – 3 coupes & one convertible.

DETROIT -- Fewer than one in three Chevrolet dealerships will be eligible to sell the 2014 Corvette Stingray when it begins rolling off the assembly line in late summer. last week, General Motors notified about 900 of its roughly 3,000-plus Chevy dealerships that they have met the requirements to sell the redesigned Corvette, a GM spokesman says. Those dealerships can begin ordering 2014 Corvettes in the next few weeks. ____________________________________

Corvettes through the years: From

the C1 to the C7

The legions of Corvette owners and enthusiasts have lately had several reasons to celebrate. Model year 2013 saw America’s favorite home-grown sports car become a sexagenarian and, more recently, the all new seventh generation Corvette (C7) was officially unveiled. Now, if you’re pretty decent at math, you can figure out the a new-from-the-ground-up Corvette only comes along

about once every 8½ years and is truly a reason to get excited. Such a momentous occasion is not only a reason to celebrate the new, but it’s also a good time to revisit Corvette’s history and appreciate how it came to be as it is now.
