JANUARY 2019 NEWSLETTER
Message from the President The changing of the guard went very smoothly thanks to the previous leaders Lynn, Irene, and Carol. I am happy to announce some committee chairmen are staying in their positions and some assuming new ones. Suggestions and ideas have been flowing in from members which forecast an interesting and exciting 2019. I am anxious to begin.

Secretary Meeting Minutes - December 19, 2018 The meeting started at 6:30 pm. President Lynn Vock wished everyone a Merry Christmas. This meeting is the annual Christmas party and grab bag gift exchange so a short business meeting is planned. Programs: Lynn turned over the meeting to Lucy Goetz, Program Chair, who talked about what is being planned for the January and February meetings. She asked how many members had AccuQuilt cutters and dies. A number of members raised their hands. It was suggested by a member to her that the cutters and dies be brought to a meeting along with fabric to make into useable pieces for charity quilts, patriotic quilts and for the Fischer Farm sale. The January meeting will be the starting point for discussion on what we have and how much fabric is needed. February will be the month to do the actual work. The January program will also be on tips, tools and tricks. If you have a favorite tip, tool or trick, please share with members at this meeting. UFO’s: Rosemary Zelenka informed members that the December show and tell will take place prior to the drawing. There is $100.00 in the UFO treasury. A discussion took place concerning the number of winners and how much money should be awarded. It was decided that four winners would be chosen, and each would receive $25.00. Based upon the discussion, by voice vote, all members present agreed that four winning names would be drawn and each winner would receive $25.00. The drawing will take place after dinner and Show and Tell. Dinner took place at 6:40 p.m. The dinner was wonderful. Thank you to all the members who brought the delicious sides and desserts. The Business Meeting was called back to order at 7:25 p.m. Lucy Goetz stated that 2018 was the 30th Anniversary of the Guild. Lucy did research on the beginnings of the guild and its history. She presented an informative account of what she discovered. Some original members are still active within the group and it was interesting to hear the stories about different events and programs that occurred over the years.
Show and Tell: Show and Tell took place following her presentation and the UFO Drawing followed. The four winners were Cindy Beard, Janis Arquette and Gale Patyk (who won twice!). At 7:45 p.m., the gift exchange took place and everyone had a wonderful time picking out just the right gift. Thank you to all from everyone for the gifts. Adjournment: A motion was made by Lynn Vock, seconded by Debbie Wesenberg to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 p.m. By voice vote, all members voted AYE. Respectfully submitted by Irene M. Jones, Recording Secretary, 2018
