Message from the ChairsWe invite you to join us in beautiful SanDiego--an idyllic city of perfect weather,gorgeous beaches, and a wealth ofattractions for visitors--as we host the 2014Rejuvenation of the Aging Face meetng. Weencourage you to enjoy the surroundingsand the Manchester Grand Hyatt, a firstclass facility. Our program has incorporated many of

the Masters of Facial Rejuvenation frommultiple specialties: facial plastic surgery,dermatology, plastic surgery, andoculoplastic surgery are all represented.We have incorporated interactive, multi-disciplinary learning sessions to enhancethe experience for our attendees. We are incorporating principles ofevidence-based medicine into our programas much as possible. Finally, we have several live demon-stration programs and a rich dissectioncourse, taught by the masters, to enhancelearning. Our goal use interactive learningto enhance and deepen participants’understanding of the three-dimensional

approach to facial rejuvenation. Hopefully you will leavewith some new tools, a fresh outlook, and some happymemories of your stay in lovely San Diego.

About the CourseRejuvenation of the Aging FaceThe Educational and Research Foundation for the Ameri-can Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery(AAFPRS Foundation) presents this unique course whichwill showcase the knowledge and expertise of worldrenowned surgeons from the specialties of facial plasticsurgery, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, and dermatology.Trend setting techniques in eyelid surgery, brow, forehead,and face lifting, laser resurfacing, rhinoplasty, implantsand fillers will be addressed. Edited surgical videos will beincorporated throughout the course. A live demonstrationof different fillers and a cadaver lab will take place as well.

Target AudienceThe course is offered for continuing medical education ofmedical students, residents, fellows, and practicing physi-cians (MDs and DOs) in the field of facial plastic andreconstructive surgery. The program is for physicians withall levels of experience and covers aesthetic, reconstructive,and congenital issues relevant to this specialty.

Accreditation and Credit DesignationThe Educational and Research Foundation for the Ameri-can Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeryis accredited by the Accreditation Council for ContinuingMedical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuingmedical education for physicians. The AAFPRS Foundation designates this continuingmedical education activity for up to 37 credits (for thedidactic portion) and 8 credits (for the lab) in Category 1 ofthe Physician’s Recognition Award of the AmericanMedical Association.

Fundamentals LearningBecause they have been very popular in the last twomeetings, we are pleased to, once again, offer twosessions focusing on the fundamentals of the aging facepresented by some of the most respected and experi-enced surgeons in the field. Whether you are juststarting to incorporate aging face surgery into yourpractice and want to learn from the masters or whetheryou are a 20 year veteran surgeon who wants toreinforce the solid foundation of your knowledge base,these sessions are for you. We have master facialplastic surgeons speaking about basic concepts on day1. On day 2, we feature an Aging Face Laboratory.Other demonstrations will be techniques that you havealways wanted to try but needed to see it live from thesource. These courses will round out and deepen yourunderstanding of the aging face in ways that make theremainder of the course more meaningful. Spanishtranslation will be provided for both of these sessions.

ABOUT THE AAFPRSITS HISTORYThe American Academy of Facial Plastic and Recon-structive Surgery (AAFPRS) was founded in 1964 andrepresents more than 2,500 facial plastic and reconstruc-tive surgeons throughout the world. The AAFPRS is aNational Medical Specialty Society of the AmericanMedical Association (AMA). The AAFPRS holds anofficial seat in the AMA House of Delegates and on theAmerican College of Surgeons board of governors.

ITS MEMBERSThe majority of AAFPRS members and fellows arecertified by the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, which includes examination infacial plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures,and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Recon-structive Surgery. Other AAFPRS members are sur-geons certified in ophthalmology, plastic surgery, anddermatology.

ABOUT THE AAFPRS FOUNDATIONIn 1974, the Educational and Research Foundation forthe American Academy of Facial Plastic and Recon-structive Surgery (AAFPRS Foundation) was created toaddress the medical and scientific issues and challengeswhich confront facial plastic surgeons.

The AAFPRS Foundation established a proactiveresearch program and educational resources for leadersin facial plastic surgery. Through courses, workshops,and other scientific presentations, as well as a highlyrespected fellowship training program, the AAFPRSFoundation has consistently provided quality educa-tional programs for the dissemination of knowledgeand information among facial plastic surgeons.

In the early 1990s, FACE TO FACE humanitarianprograms were established so that AAFPRS memberscould use their skills and share their talent in helpingthe less fortunate individuals here and abroad.• FACE TO FACE: International brings AAFPRSmembers to third world countries where they treatchildren with facial birth defects and anomalies.• FACE TO FACE: The National Domestic ViolenceProject allows AAFPRS members to perform surgerieson survivors of domestic abuse here in the UnitedStates, who have received injuries to their faces.• The newest member to FACE TO FACE is FACES OFHONOR. This program offers free surgical care forsoldiers who have been injured in the line of duty inIraq and/or Afghanistan.

RegistrationThe registration form and payment must be received in theAAFPRS Foundation office by Friday, January 10, 2014 inorder to qualify for the pre-registration fee. After Friday,January 10, 2014, you will be charged the on-site fee.Registration fees for physicians, OFPSA members, alliedhealth professionals, and spouses and guests include abadge; on-site program; attendance to all the sessions(unless there is an additional fee involved); entrance to theExhibit Hall; lunches, morning and afternoon breaks; andthe Welcome Reception. Spouses/guests who do notregister for the meeting but wish to attend the WelcomeReception, may purchase a ticket for $75. The spouse/guest fee carries no acknowledgement of course atten-dance.

ON-SITE RegistrationOn-site registration will begin on Tuesday, February 4,2014 and will continue until Saturday, February 8, 2014.

Cancellation policyFull refunds less a $75 cancellation fee will be honoredbefore Friday, January 10, 2014. After this date, no refundswill be granted. No shows are considered to be an on-sitecancellation and therefore will not be eligible for anyrefunds. A cancellation requires written notification.

Registration categoriesPhysiciansPhysicians (MDs and DOs) who wish to receive CMEcredits must register as physicians in the appropriateregistration category and designate their medical degree.

AAFPRS members: Members who meet all membershiprequirements and have paid their 2010 dues. Physicianswho are members of the societies that comprise the Inter-national Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies(IFFPSS) fall under this category. (See registration form forlist of societies.)

Non-members: Physicians who are not currently membersof the AAFPRS or any society affiliated with the IFFPSS.(See registration form for list of societies.)

Residents: Member and non-member residents in anACGME-accredited residency program. Verification ofresidency from program director must be submitted attime of registration.

Fellowship Participants: Fellows participating in anAAFPRS Foundation fellowship program between July 1,2013 and June 30, 2014.

Non-physiciansSpouses and Guests: A spouse, guest, relative or anindividual accompanying a registered physician for socialand food functions only. Spouses or guests who wish toattend the scientific sessions and courses, should registerunder the Allied Health Professionals category.

OFPSA Members: Facial plastic surgery assistants who aremembers of the Organization of Facial Plastic SurgeryAssistants (OFPSA) should register under this category.

Allied Health Professionals: Non-MDs and non-DOs suchas medical assistants, office personnel, nurses,aestheticians, and physician assistants, must register underthis category to receive a letter of attendance.
