ALUMNI ASSOCIATION (ORMA)

PREFACE

Alumni are the best brand ambassadors for any educational institution. In that regard MES

College Marampally has a very large Alumni base which includes students from the inception

of the college in 1995. It includes members in various parts of the world. ORMA MES College

Marampally Alumni Association, as it is named is a registered society since the year 2018. The

Annual Alumni meet is held on 26, January every year. Alumni is actively involved in various

support activities for students and staff in the college. It takes active part in philanthropic

activities of the college, holds various training sessions and workshops on a regular basis. The

Alumni association has chapters in UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, UK and USA. They hold annual

alumni meets at their respective places.

ALUMNI MEET REPORT

2017-18

The Alumni Association of the College-ORMA functions in the college to show the active

presence of Alumni at the College. The President of the organization is Mr. P.K. Muhammed

Rafeek and the Secretary is Mr. Kaderkunju. The Committee is supported by its Executive

Committee members. The alumni is actively involved in supporting the students in the form of

Awards to the toppers and scholarships to the needy students. They are also active by

organizing invited talks and career oriented programmes for the students.

Besides the annual get together, various departments organizes their own Departmental

Alumni meets. This year the Department of Commerce and Computer application organized

their departmental Alumni gatherings at the college.

Oman Alumni Meet 2017

The major programmes organized by the alumni Association in the college premises are:

Campus to corporate

The Alumni initiative campus to corporate programme was organized on November 2nd, 3rd

and 6th, 2017 at the College Seminar Hall. The three days programme included Department of

Computer Applications, Business Administration, Electronics and Commerce. The

inauguration of the programme was done by Alumnus of the College – Mr. Muhammed Rafeek

P.K, Managing Partner, Winfy Software, Kochi. Dr. Manzur Ali P.P.(IQAC Coordinator),

Mr.Kaderkunju (Secretary, Alumni Association, ), Ms. Farzana S. Hussain (Alumni

Coordinator) and Ms. Abidha (Alumni coordinator of BCA) addressed the gathering during the

inaugural session. The four sessions were organized as follows:

A session on Campus to Corporate program

The students and faculty members of the concerned departments attended the programme

and was benefitted from the same.

Medical Camp

A Medical camp was organized by Alumni Association and Departments of Commerce,

Biosciences and Electronics. It was done as a CSR activity of Medical Trust Hospital on 25th

February, 2018 at the New Block. The Departments of General Medicine, Cardiology,

Ophthalmology, Pediatrics and Gynecology of the hospital were part of the programme.

Medical Camp: Doctors of Medical Trust Hospital in service

The programme was inaugurated by Jb. Syed Mohammed, Secretary of the Standing

committee of Self financing colleges of MES. The free medicines sponsored by alumni

Association was distributed to five needy people in the locality by Adv. Abdul Muthalib, Vice

President, District Panchayat. The programme was beneficial to the local community and

there were 180 patients in total. Ophthalmology -86, Gynaec-24, Pediatrics -6,

Cardiac/General-64.

Bag Making Workshop and sale

A bag making workshop and sale was organized on 11.08.2017 at the College Conference Hall.

The programme was organized in association with NGO-Plan @ earth. Bag making using cloth

was demonstrated by Mr. Mujeeb, Vice President, Plan @ earth. Nearly 60 girls from various

departments attended the workshop. The theme was reuse and recycle. The first sale was

made by Ms.Rafeekamol C.A. Different varieties of bags like laptop bags, mobile pouches,

college bags, vanity bags and door mats were kept for sale. Faculty and students from various

departments purchased cloth bags kept for sale.

Alumni meet of the year 2016-17 was conducted on 26-01-2017. Alumni students from all

departments participated in the alumni meet. During the meet, the toppers of the final year

The meeting was attended by Heads of various departments, alumni Association secretary,

Kaderkunju, President Mr. Muhammed Rafeek and retired teachers Dr. Joy, Ms. Subaida.

� During the year, an interaction and career orientation programme was organized by

alumni of Commerce dept. Mr. Muhammed Hashim (2007-10), ACCA. He spoke to the

students about their career progression and demands from the employee in a corporate

world. He spoke about transformation from student to an employee. The basic

requirements, demand, papers and job prospects of an ACCA, CMA, ICWA, CA courses were

also explained to the students.

� An MoU was signed with Aizar pipes (a partnership firm owned by Muhammed Shafi

(2007-10) by the Department of commerce. The students of Commerce dept. were taken

for a visit to the firm.

� Treatment aid to Ms.Shernazmol (Faculty, Dept. of Electronics)

The first batch of the Department of Commerce organized an Alumni meet on 25 August,2015. As

many as 18 alumni with family attended the meet. It was attended by former teachers; Smt.

GENERAL ALUMNI MEET: 26 JANUARY 2016

The general Alumni meet was conducted on 26 January, 2016. As many as 280 alumni form various

departments attended the function. During the meet two teachers were honored. Dr. Sabu M.K. on

account of completion of PhD and Dr. Manzur ali P.P. on account of his Post doctoral fellowship from

University of Nebrasca Medical Centre, USA. The declaration of scholarship by alumni to five students

was announced by the alumni Association Secretary. As many as 55 students attended the meet. A

health survey in the locality of Marampally is under progress, initiated by Alumni Association and

NCC wing of the College.

ABROAD ALUMNI MEETS

An abroad Alumni meet has been conducted at Foodland Restaurant, Muscat on 13.11 2015. More

than 50 alumnus and their families attended the meet. UAE Alumni meet of MES College Marampally

ORMA chapter has been held at Burdubai restaurant on 25.12.2015. t

Kuwait chapter ORMA Alumni Meet was held at Kuwait, Anjappar, Farwaniya on 27.01.2016.

Around 60 alumni gathered and shared their joy and experiences.

UAE chapter Electronics Alumni Meet has been held at Dubai on 8 May 2015. Thirty Five

Alumni members from Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi attended the programme. Mr. Sam

Kollannore was the chief guest of that occasion.

ALUMNI MEET REPORT

2014-15

Alumni association organized reunion of BBA 1996 Admn. on 03.08.14. Twenty nine

alumni with their families attended the programme. Former Principal Muhammed sir,

Dr. Joy M T, Dr. Zakariya K A, Mr. Maheen Aboobaker, Alumni association President

Mr. Muhammed Rafeeq and Dr. Sopna V Muhammed attended the programme.

BBA 1996 Admission Alumni meet

A senior Alumni meet of MES College Marampally Alumni association (MES ORMA)

was conducted on 9th Aug 2014. The meeting, which was named as

“Koottukarkoppam” was a gathering of senior alumni members (1995-2000 batch

members) and NRI members. Around 50 members from the senior alumni and NRI

attended the gathering with their family members. Principal Dr. Biju A, Mohammad

Rafeek (President, MES ORMA), Dr. Murali Krishnan T.R., Sri. Sabu M K, Sri. Joseph

Deril K S, Smt. Raphika P.M. and alumni representatives addressed the gathering and
