FOOD FOR THE SOUL: POETRY & PROSE
Walk by Faith to Live Joyfully by Mr. Charles de Feo, O.P.
This book is about
my story, my family,
how to overcome
difficulties in life by
clinging to and
growing in faith in
God under all cir-
cumstances, re-
gardless of the
good or bad. It also
contains a collec-
tion of poems writ-
ten by myself and 5
other family mem-
bers. The majority
of the poems were
written by my Uncle Alex who also happened
to be my godfather. His writings inspired my
writings. He along with my parents, grandpar-
ents, and brother, was an important influence
in my life. He loved his family and was always
nearby.
It is incredibly important for men to be role
models to the young. I have been blessed with
great male role models. My father, brother, and
uncle modeled the faith to me and were great
examples of authentic Christian masculinity.
My mother was also a great role model as
were my grandparents and other family mem-
bers.
Let’s get started on this journey together. Be
prepared to open your mind and heart and
learn something new about faith. Part of this
book is a guide book to follow to help you pick
yourself up and get out of difficult circumstanc-
es. I hope and pray it helps you on your daily
walk to start living a joyful and abundant life, as

Answer: This shield represents Saint Peter of Verona (Peter Martyr) who was felled by an assassin’s sword after a long apostolic career, and with the blood that flowed from his wounds,
he wrote the first words of the Apostles' Creed on the ground,
“I believe in God.”

Region 4
The St. Thomas Aquinas Chapter, Lancaster,
PA, shared in a joyful retreat on the topic of
mercy presented by Fr. Ignatius Madumere,
O.P. He brought the concept of mercy to life
through scriptures, apostolic exhortations and
group sharing of the gratitude and mercy of the
Lord. he challenged us to be the face of mercy.
One of our exercises was to write our own
psalm 136. Creating our own litany of gratitude
for how God's mercy has been with us through
all of our journeys of life! What a great reflec-
tion of gratitude to God and continued trust in
His mercy.
Region 6
The Region VI meeting was held October 21–
23, 2016, at the Our Lady of the Holy Spirit
Center in Norwood, Ohio, near Cincinnati. The
retreat was attended by 84 Lay Dominicans
from nine chapters in Ohio and Kentucky. Fr.
Boniface Endorf, O.P., was the retreat master.
Fr. Endorf focused on the path from sin to holi-
ness and its practical application to Lay Do-
minican life and spirituality.
