SUMMER STUDENT COMPUTER TECHNICIAN
School District No. 58 (Nicola-Similkameen) is accepting applications for a summer student computer technician in the Technology Services Department at our Merritt location. The computer technician will provide assistance in the following: -Participate in the configuration and support of internal systems; -Perform basic repair and maintenance of desktop PC’s and printers; -Computer troubleshooting experience or working on A+ certification an asset; -Demonstrated proficiency in basic problem solving, strong interpersonal, time management and customer service skills; -Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and familiarization with internal microcomputer components; -A valid driver’s license. It is preferable that students were enrolled full-time in High School/College in 2017/2018, however, MUST be returning full-time to College/University or Trades School for the 2018/2019 sessions. College/University proof of acceptance is mandatory. This is a 7.5 hour per day, four-month position. Submit applications in-person at the School Board Office, 1550 Chapman Street, Merritt or on-line at www.sd58.bc.ca. Plane lands on CoqDebra Sharkey was driving from Van-
couver to Kamloops when she witnessedthe Mustang II flying low above the high-way approximately 10 km south of Merritt.
She watched the plane fly lower andlower, before taking a long, gradual decline.The pilot then landed on a grassy medianbetween the divided highway lanes.
The pilot proceeded to get out of hisplane and get things together. He told aDebra: I've got my cellphone and I've gotsome service. I'll make a couple of calls.I'm all good, I'm not leaving my plane."'

Interim cannabisbylaw defeated
At last week’s City Council meeting,they decided not to tackle a zoning bylawamendment relating to the sale of cannabis.The idea was to put into place a bylaw sothat no cannabis sales could be made untilnew federal legislation was enacted.
But some councillors weren’t happywith possibly turning away business.And the amendment was defeated.
Council is to schedule a workshop onthe matter, once federal policy is set.
