FCV Series

Stem and seat type Flow Control Valves are excellentfor controlling gas injection in gas lift manifolds,small water flood projects or any similar typeapplications.

ACV Series Large stem and seat type Adjustable Choke Valvesare for use as a wellhead production choke orin water or gas injection and thermal recoveryapplications. Ported Cage trims combat, cavitation,erosion and noise where mono and multiphasehigh flow rates and differentials are encountered.

Rotary Electric Actuator SeriesElectrically driven rotary motors that are directlycoupled to FCV. These actuators controlled by digital pulse duration or analog signals transmitted from a remote location will provide precise control of the flow.

MV 60 SeriesMV-60 valves can be used for snap-open or throttling service. Motor valve used as a pressure regulator, dump valve and time cycle control. They make effective well-headcontrol units, constant- rate controllers and differential pressure controllers. In addition, they can be used in low-rate, low-pressure gas and water injection.

Positive Inline ChokeThis unique inline design characteristic permits bidirectional flow. The positive inline choke incorporates a fixed bean design that allows the bean to be easily replaced without removing the valve body from the flow line.

ACV-5 Adjustable Choke Valves have a wide range of applications in the oil, gas, and water service industry. The ACV-5 Series Valves are available with a standard Stainless Steel Valve Stem and Seat trim design. These valves are used where high flow rates and high differentials are encountered. The ACV-5 can be used for applications as wellheads production chokes, secondary recovery projects for water and gas injection or as thermal recovery.

The ACV-5 Valve Body is available with 2”, 2 ½”, or 3” flanged end-connections and 3/4”, 1” or 1-1/4” trim size allowing proper match of the valve to the expected flow rate. All of our ACV-5 chokes currently have a standard maximum working pressure of 10,000 psi [68,950 KPa]. The many features and benefits offered by the ACV-5 includes our standard stainless steel indicator

thring, calibrated in 64 of an inch, providing accurate and adjustable flow control. And with sealing integrating in mind, our spring loaded Teflon® packing design forms a bubble-tight stem seal.

The ACV-5 series design has also given field consideration by allowing stem and seat to be removed manually without requiring custom tooling or removal of valve body from line during maintenance or inspection. An optional stem locking capability and specialized coatings are also available upon request.

Tungsten Carbide (T.C.) Trim DesignACV-5 Adjustable Choke Valves are also

available with a 3/4”, 1” or 1-1/4” Tungsten Carbide (T. C.) Trim. The T.C. Trim, because of its exceptional properties, has emerged as the superior alternative to stainless steel for many applications. Considering its wear resistance and hardness, Tungsten Carbide, is ideally suited for our stem and seat inserts which are subject to severe service conditions.

Thanks to its longer wear qualities, Merla's T. C. Trim Valves, translate into significant cost savings to our customer by increasing productivity and reducing down time to replace worn components.

This single-element, external-sleeve trim design results in reduced cavitation by creating multiple pressure drops and dividing flow. The Cavrosion* valve trim is used in the same choke body as standard trim, and it is designed to afford the same linear flow characteristics as a standard feature. The valve seat is removed from the high-flow area, and tungsten carbide components are used for throttling the flow. The tungsten-carbide throat extends below the seat and allows the cavitation to dissipate within the trim.

Special Trim Design for High Erosion EnvironmentsCeramics (96.5% ZrO and HfO in combination with 3.5% MgO.)

The Ceramic trim design is excellent for combating wear and corrosion in valves used in chemical processing and refining environments. It is designed for applications requiring maximum strengths.Our special one piece seat design allows an excellent wear, abrasion and corrosion resistance. Stem design has an internal ceramic sleeve covering its erosion impact for its excellent resistance. It has very high mechanical strength, high impact resistance, good thermal resistance and very low thermal conductivity.

Maximum workingpressures to 5000 psi [34,475 kPa] are standardon the ACV-12 series valves. An easily readindicator ring, calibrated in sixty - fourths of aninch, provides accurate flow control, and aspring-loaded Teflon® packing designforms a bubble- tight stem seal.

The valve and seat can be removedby hand, without special tools and withoutremoval of the valve body from the line,by simply removing the bonnet.

ACV-12 seriesvalves feature a 3-in.[76.2-mm] maximum port size and asemibalanced stem design to reduce the torquerequired to open the valve when high pressuredifferentials exist.

Special Trim DesignsPorted cage and multiple sleevedesigns that will provide protection fromdeterioration caused by cavitation and erosionare available for ACV-12 valves.

Cavitation results from the instantaneousformation of gas bubbles in a fluid. Thebubbles are caused by an increase in the fluidvelocity at a flow restriction. The increase influid velocity is followed by a sudden decreasein fluid pressure to below the vapor pressure ofthe fluid after the restriction. As the flow continues

Erosion damage is caused byparticulates or dense fluids flowing athigh velocity and impinging on smallsurface areas. The dissipation of kineticenergy at the trim of most plug and seat,or eclipsing-type choke valves, results inerosion damage.

Special trim designs are available inthe following configurations.

Cavrosion Valve TrimThis single-element, external-sleeve trimdesign results in reduced cavitation bycreating multiple pressure drops anddividing flow.The Cavrosion valve trim is used in thesame choke body as standard trim, and itis designed to afford the same linear flowcharacteristics as a standard feature. Thevalve seat is removed from the high-flowarea, and tungsten carbide componentsare used for throttling the flow.

The tungsten-carbide- coated throatextends below the seat and allows thecavitation to dissipate within the trim.

Electric Actuators

ACTUATORS

Electric actuators are electricallydriven rotary motors that are directly coupledto either ACV or FCV valves.The position of the choke can be controlled byeither digital pulse duration or analog signalstransmitted from a remote location. Theelectric motor and all electric controls, ifrequired, are enclosed in the housing whichcan be supplied to NEMA standards forhazardous locations for Class 1, Division 1,Group D areas.

The actuator and valve assemblyis a compact package that offers precisecontrol of flow through the valve. Rotary stempositioning is accurate to at least ±0.5% of fulltravel. A hand wheel for manual setting is alsoavailable. Thepower supply specified can be
