7 September 2016 Principal s Note Dates to Remember!! 3h7sz Dear Parents & Carers, Welcome to Week 7 Term 3. This week I had the opportunity to visit a Darwin City School and work with senior department personnel to conduct a school review. A school review focusses on the National School Improvement Framework and provides a rating on various domains including: An Explicit Improvement Agenda, A Culture that Promotes Learning, Targeted use of School Resources and an Expert Teaching Team. There are 11 domains in total. Domain 11 is specific to Independent Public Schools and reviews the function of the School Board. Bakewell School will be reviewed in 2017 so it was a good opportunity to participate in the process as a reviewer and obtain a more detailed knowledge and understanding of the 11 improvement domains. The experience also highlighted the areas where Bakewell is performing exceptionally well and where there continues to be opportunity for further improvement. In Term 4 Bakewell School will commence working on the 2017 – 2019 strategic plan. The work will take place with staff and the School Board. There will also be an opportunity for parents and carers to have further input into the strategic direction and future priorities for Bakewell School. Taking some time to ensure we capture the ‘student voice’ will also be a priority. A very big thank you to the Bakewell School Community for your enthusiastic and very positive response to our recent community event, ‘The Final Countdown’. It was a great night for Bakewell and great to see our students showing off their many and varied talents. A special thanks to the show Director, Mr Peter Leslie and the organising committee. Have a great week!
