This flock was founded in 1903 by Jas. Stevenson with the purchase of 55 ewes at the Highfield Dispersal Sale. In 1908, 4 ‘Wanganella’ ewes bred by T. Millear, 10 ‘Widgiewa’ ewes bred by J. S. Horsfall, and 21 ewe lambs, the progeny of these imported ewes, were purchased from the White Rock Estate. Ewes added : 1988, 5 bred by I. D. Smith (F.176).

In 1934 the flock became the property of the Estate of James Stevenson and in 1971,was transferred to K. D. Stevenson. In 1985 the flock transferred to Stevenson Bros, 2001 to I.D. & P.E.Stevenson, and in 2011 to the present Owners.

This flock was founded in 1924 by Hector Gibson with the purchase from R. K. Smith (F.65) of 204 ewes, 14 ewe lambs, 57 ram lambs and 3 rams. In 1938 the flock became the property of the Estate. The following ewes have been added to the flock:- In 1925, 85 from the Estate of late Chas. Campbell, New South Wales; 15 from Hy. Collins and Co., South Australia; 430 ewes and 70 ram lambs from F. H. Smith (F.2 and F.47); 7 ewe lambs and 2 ram lambs from Dr Moody and bred by Hy. Collins and Co.; and in 1928, 15 ewes (in lamb) and 11 ewe lambs from Belle Vue Estate, Tasmania. In 1929, 34 ewes were purchased from W. Paterson & Son, bred by Hy. Collins and Co., South Australia, and 51 the progeny of these ewes and a Lucerndale ram. 34 ewe lambs were bred in 1929, the progeny of the ewes bred by Hy. Collins and Co., and a Boonoke ram. In 1947, 20 ewes bred by C. O. T. Rutherford (F.55), and in 1948, 17 ewes bred by Estate of late Thos. Renwick (F.44) were added to the flock.

This flock was founded by J. R. Todhunter from his own Glenfalloch flock and from Lake Heron flock. The Lake Heron ewes were built up from Blackford Estate (F.57) and Blackford

Stud rams were used in the flock. Of 100 ewes from Lake Heron used in founding the Cleardale flock, 40 were selected from 317 ewes and 60 from 1,850 breeding ewes.

The Glenfalloch flock was built up from Lake Heron ewes transferred to that property and were of pure Blackford blood. Of the 209 Glenfalloch ewes incorporated in the Cleardale flock, 60 were selected from 501 aged ewes and 149 from the breeding flock of 2,517 ewes. At the dispersal sale of the Blackford flock further additions were made totalling 170 ewes (40 one-shear, 60 two-shear, 30 three-shear and 40 four-shear), 30 ewe lambs and 16 ram lambs. The selected ewes from Glenfalloch and Lake Heron flocks were mated in 1953 with ‘Blackford R.B. 8-86’ (4119), ‘Blackford Lustre 50-85’ (4120), ‘Blackford Anthony Eden 9-12’ (4121), ‘Blackford Bungaree 1-0 L.H. 84’ (4305), ‘Blackford Birkenhead 5-41’ and ‘Blackford R. H. 50 L. H. Clear.’ At the time of registration the flock consisted of 361 ewes, 70 two-tooth ewes, 134 ewe lambs and 111 ram lambs.

In 1954 the ewes were mated with ‘Blackford R.B. 8-86’ (4119), ‘Blackford Lustre 50-85’ (4120), ‘Blackford Bungaree R.H. 1-0 L.H. 84’ (4305), ‘Blackford Dinkum 671-51-5’ (4137), ‘Blackford Gale 44-51’ (4126), ‘Blackford Dinkum 30-7-1’ (3834), ‘Blackford Little Man 8-93-1’ (3760) and ‘Blackford Peace 74-51-2’ (4141). The rams ‘Blackford Collins 2-73-1’ (4144), ‘Blackford Peace 2-74’ (4148), and ‘Blackford Bungaree 21-51-2’ (4131) were held in the flock for future stud requirements.

In 1956, 10 ewes were mated to the ram ‘Lawloit John’ (imp.) (4306), bred by John Mea-gher (F.1290 M.S.A.), and 5 each to ‘Sir John’ (4482) and ‘Little Sir John’ (4483), bred by A. A. Urquhart (F.135). From these matings only the ewe ‘LJ 5/56’ and her progeny have been retained. All other sheep and their progeny from the above matings have now been discarded.

The flock was founded by John Macfarlane in 1878 by the purchase of 16 ewes from George Parramore, Tasmania. In 1895 the flock was registered by Walter Macfarlane and in 1914 became the property of the executors of the late Walter Macfarlane. Other ewes added have been bred by Charles Ayrey; Alexander Armstrong; Boriyalloak Stud and the Achray flock and in 1920, 50 ewes from A. W. Rutherford Jnr (F.29).

In 1947, 7 ewes were purchased from C. O. T. Rutherford (F.55). In 1920 the flock was transferred to L. R. C. Macfarlane; in 1960 to Macfarlane Estate Ltd; in 1976 to Mrs J. C. Cra-dock and in 1982 to Kaiwara Merino Stud Ltd. In 1996 the original flock number 10 became the property of R. J.
