What a fabulous turn out we had for our Father's Day BBQ breakfast! It was so lovely to see all our students with their wonderful role models by their sides!
Thank you to everyone who assisted in the preparation for the day and most importantly to the fathers, grandfathers,
uncles and significant others who came out to enjoy the morning with us.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Evelina Moloney who competed in the High Jump at the Regional Athletics last Friday, finishing in second place. Evelina is now off to the State Athletics Championships, representing the Hunter .
Our Mandala Community Garden is in FULL SWING again
The children have been helping the staff to get the garden back into shape for the new season. The children helped to plant many new plants into the garden and are excited to show you! Please take some time to walk down and have a look.
We will be using the produce for cooking; taste testing and for the children plan to practise their marketing and maths skills by having regular produce and herb stalls!
If you wish to be involved by helping out in the garden, adding
more plants or assisting with the stalls, please see me or the

Cure for Caroline
Please join us for a very special fundraiser at Event Cinema Kotara. Caroline Quirey attended Merewether Public School from Kindergarten to Year 2 and is special friend of many of the girls in Year 5. Sadly, Caroline is about to undergo chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant for a rare bone marrow disorder, aplastic anaemia. Caroline, her older sister Eleanor and her parents Lydia & Bruce were always involved in school events until Caroline and her family relocated to Dunedin in New Zealand just over two years ago. Her mum Lydia is a caring mid-wife who worked at John Hunter Hospital, her dad Bruce worked at The Newcas-tle Herald. Most of their family and friends are here in Australia. In order to support the Quireys at this challenging time, a fundraising preview of Bridget Jones Baby has been organised for Thursday 15th September at Event Cinemas Kotara at 6.30pm in the Vmax Theatre. Tickets are $35 each or $330 for 10.
Please come and enjoy a great night out with friends, enjoy a funny movie & a sweet treat. We have a number of fabu-lous raffle prizes worth over $1500 including a custom artwork by local artist Cheryl Cusick valued at $650 as first prize. $20 from each ticket will go directly to Caroline & her family plus all money raised from the raffle. You can purchase your tickets on the link below: https://www.trybooking.com/223439. More information on this event can be found on the facebook page Cure for Caroline. Thanks in advance for your support,
Are you a Good Painter – We need you!
We have many doors and the odd wall that need a fresh coat of paint to help make the
school look its best. We want to paint every classroom door a different bright colour to assist
with the class names and to make them easily identifiable. If this sounds like something you
would like to help out with – please see me!

If you wish to book your child/children into the September/October school holidays Vacation Care please complete the form and return to the school office by Tuesday 20 September. On behalf of all the dads, granddads, pops and uncles who attended the Father’s
Day breakfast, I'd like to say a big thankyou to Tracey, Penny, Becc, Bel, Jane,
Amy, Susanne, Dana, Helen, Talia and Stacey . It was a great morning which was
well attended on a beautiful Spring morning and couldn't have been possible
without all your efforts ladies, so once again thank you. The egg and bacon rolls
were delicious, the photo booth was a nice addition as was having the portraits
on the big screen. I would also like to thank all the dads & co who made the time
to attend. I am sure you would all agree, it was a great morning.
Regards,
Paul Hughes
