Dear Friends of Mercy,

At Mercy Health Foundation, we seek to partner with our community to support diverse funding priorities with a direct impact on the care our patients receive, as well as their family members. At Mercy Northwest Arkansas, we see ourselves as living out a health care ministry through our physicians, nurses, the entire care team and supporting personnel. Through continued support from the Northwest Arkansas community, Mercy is proud to provide quality programs and services to carry on the mission of the Sisters of Mercy.

Our community’s need for compassionate care, regardless of a family’s ability to pay, will always outpace our resources. Your charitable contributions enable Mercy to provide exceptional care, advanced medical technologies and treatment opportunities to all who seek care.

We value you as a partner in the health care ministry of Mercy and as a dedicated community member in this region. You are allowing us to move exponentially in providing systemic change. We know health care remains a vital element to the community infrastructure, and furthermore, we take that a step further, to provide care in a dynamic way as we ingrain the healing ministry of Jesus throughout.

On behalf of the Foundation and those we serve, please accept our deepest gratitude for your compassionate partnership and your caring support of our healing mission.

Sincerely,

Clark Ellison Regional Vice President

23rd Annual O’ Night Divine Charity BallMercy’s 23rd Annual O’ Night Divine Charity Ball welcomed more than 1,500 guests and raised over $1 million in support of advanced technologies throughout Mercy Northwest Arkansas. An incredible thank you to the overwhelming support of the community, with a special appreciation to the event’s presenting sponsors, Walmart/Sam’s Club and the Lee and Linda Scott Family.

The event recognized several community partners who stepped up in 2016 to support our efforts in a big way. Those partners included Organization of the Year: Vista Productions; Family of the Year: Pete and Shirley Esch Family; and Volunteer of the Year: Greg Blair.

A performance by country music duo Dan + Shay was the highlight of the night, bringing an elegant acoustic mix of entertainment. Guests enjoyed an array of live auction items, including the event’s signature trip to see the St. Louis Cardinals.

Dick Trammel took to the stage, as part of the Dickey Ray Club, and raised over $70,000 in minutes. The funds supported procurement of new fetal monitors and Omni/Giraffe infant warmers, which aid in the care provided to mothers, unborn babies, and newborn babies.

Women with a MissionThe Susan Barrett Women with a Mission Giving Society combines resources, vision and a passion for helping others to support and improve health care in our community. By giving together, members can tackle larger initiatives.

Over the past year, Women with a Mission grew to include nearly 80 members who combined their annual financial gifts to upgrade much needed equipment for our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, purchase new cribs for our Pediatric Unit and provide educational training mannequins for our patient care teams.

In October, Women with a Mission members from around the ministry were treated to a special “Day of Inspiration” held at Crystal Bridges. Keynote speakers Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Pierce Bush shared personal and moving stories of growing up in the White House with their grandparents and parents.

Members also had the opportunity to enjoy a sneak preview of the new Brightwater Culinary School with a special Brunch, Bubbles and Bentonville Film Festival. Well-known actress and author, Marilu Henner, enlightened us with humorous stories of her family and her “Highly Superior Autobiographical Memory.”

The Callaghan Legacy

William Callaghan was a successful apothecary in Dublin when he and his wife took in an orphaned young woman named Catherine McAuley.

Catherine began to minister to the sick and needy in their community, and when Mr. Callaghan later fell ill, he left Catherine his estate.

With this inheritance, Catherine built the first House of Mercy to care for women and children and later founded the Sisters of Mercy in 1831. Her legacy is the mission of Mercy that is still alive today.
