Senior Members/Past Chairmen have volunteered to be mentors for new members. In every Zone, State and Region, new members may benefit from the guidance of senior members/past chairmen who could play the role of a mentor to the newly joined members and understand CII much better.

Ms. Shobana Kamineni has been serving as Executive Vice-Chairperson, AHEL, since July 2014 and has directed the company’s diversification to make it Asia’s foremost integrated healthcare organization. Ms. Kamineni helms the Apollo Global Projects Consultancy for the planning, design and execution of new projects. She also heads Apollo Pharmacy, India’s largest pharmacy chain serving 2,50,000 customers a day. She continues to be a Whole Time Director on the Board of Apollo Munich Health Insurance after leading its collaboration with Munich Re.

Additionally, Ms Kamineni is Vice-Chairperson of the KEI Group, a diversified business founded with her husband. She is an Independent Director on the Boards of Blue Star Limited and Hero MotoCorp, and Advisor to CISCO India’s External Board.

Passionate about wellness, Ms. Kamineni championed the NGO ‘Billion Hearts Beating’ for educating Indians about heart-health. A member of the Advisory Council of the National Cadet Corp (NCC), she has received several prestigious national awards for Entrepreneurship and Leadership.

Rakesh Bharti Mittal is Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises, one of India’s leading business groups. Rakesh serves as Chairman-Bharti AXA Life Insurance, Bharti AXA General Insurance and FieldFresh Foods and Board Member of Bharti Airtel and is MD, Bharti Realty Holdings.

He is a member of the Founders Circle -Brookings India and ICRIER. He is currently on the Governing Body of ICAR and a member of the National Food Processing Development Council (NFPDC).

A passionate philanthropist, Rakesh is the Co-Chairman of Bharti Foundation with leading initiatives such as Satya Bharti Program (education), Satya Bharti Abhiyan (sanitation) and Nyaya Bharti (legal aid). Rakesh serves on Boards of several prestigious educational institutions including Indian School of Business (ISB) and Bharti School of Telecommunication Technology & Management, IIT Delhi.

As a young 26-year old entrepreneur in 1985, Uday Kotak started Kotak Capital Management Finance Ltd. (which later became Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd). In 2003 Kotak Mahindra Finance Ltd. became the first non-banking financial company (NBFC) in India’s corporate history to be converted into a bank. Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (KMBL) is regarded as one of the most efficient and high performing banks in India, built on the principles of simplicity and prudence.

Uday’s ‘basics of banking’ approach has ensured that the loan book is of high quality and the bank is well-capitalised. In a journey spanning nearly three decades, he has not only helped the company grow to this scale but also earn respect.

Mr Sumant Sinha is the Founder Chairman and CEO of ReNew Power, one of India’s largest clean energy companies. ReNew Power was founded in the year 2011 with the purpose of establishing a robust and sustainable presence as an Independent Power Producer (IPP) across the clean energy space of wind and solar energy. ReNew Power has raised funding from Goldman Sachs, Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, Asian Development Bank, and Global Environment Fund. Under Mr Sinha’s leadership, ReNew Power has grown organically and has more than 1,600 MW of commissioned and under-construction clean energy assets. Additionally, it has a development pipeline of more than 1GW solar, wind and solar rooftop projects.

Currently, Mr Sinha serves as the founder Chairman of the Indian Wind Energy Alliance (IWEA) and as Co-Chair, National Renewable Energy Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He is on the Advisory Board of Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA). He is also on the Board of the Raj Center of Indian Economic Policy at Columbia University.

Recently, Mr Sinha was the recipient of the prestigious “Renewable Energy Leader of the Year 2015” award at the National Awards for Excellence in Renewable Energy in July 2015 and the “Excellence Award- 2015 in Renewable Energy Sector” by the Energy and Environment Foundation in August 2015.

Mr Sachit Jain is the Deputy Chairman of CII Northern Region and Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Vardhman Special Steels Ltd. He is also Jt. MD of Vardhman Textiles Ltd.

Mr Jain was actively involved in expanding Vardhman Group’s presence at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh from an initial investment of Rs 32 crores to a cumulative investment of approximately Rs 1,500 crores with 9 manufacturing units. After stabilization of manufacturing operations of the Group in Himachal Pradesh, he shifted to the Group’s Corporate Office in Ludhiana to help in overall operations in different businesses of the Group. As the Managing Director of Vardhman Special Steels Ltd, he played an instrumental role in increasing the Company’s turnover to a turnover of Rs 730 crores in 2015-16 from Rs 250 crores 2009-10.

Mr Jain started his professional career with Hindustan Lever in 1989 before he joined Vardhman Group in 1990 as Executive Director. He likes to explore new dimensions of business and is interested in living a holistic life. He published his first book “READY FOR TAKEOFF”- A Leadership story in 2010.

Mr Jain is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Technology (Delhi), Indian Institute of Management (Ahmedabad).

Mr Amarbir Singh is the Managing Director of Indian Polymer Industries and the company is a member of CII since 2004. Indian Polymer Industries (IPI) is an ISO-9001: 2008 (TUV) certified company and is one of the leading rubber component manufacture. Mr Man Mohan S Kohli is the Past Chairman of CII Chandigarh Council and is a member of CII Northern Regional Council for the year 2017-18 as a Co Chairman for the Committee on Tourism and Hospitality.

Mr Kohli has also been an active council member in the previous years. Kalyan Singh Darshan Singh (Aroma Group of Hospitality) has been member of CII since 2003.

Mr Kohli is the Chief Executive Officer of Kalyan Singh Darshan Singh (Aroma Group of Hospitality), has been involved in the city affairs for many years and is known to be a brand ambassador of the city beautiful. He has been involved with many associations & clubs to contribute back to the society. He is also on the board of many government committees in Chandigarh.

Mr Singh’s able leadership has provided impetus and support to CII Chandigarh Council and its various initiatives and endeavors to promote hospitality & tourism in the city. He was the man behind several social welfare & society development programmes.

Dr Alka Kaul is Immediate Past Chairperson of the CII Delhi State Council and Director, Horizon Industrial Products Pvt Ltd.

Over the years, Dr Alka Kaul has worked in various positions and departments in the Bluepeter and Horizon Industrial Group. Under her leadership, the saddle assembly division flourished and was turned around to profit. Dr Alka Kaul is also a qualified medical doctor, who completed her MD General Medicine from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal University, Manipal, Karnataka.

Dr Alka Kaul has always been given various critical areas to work in the Bluepeter Group, especially in its flagship company, Horizon Industrial Products Pvt. Ltd. She spearheaded the project for implementation of ISO/TS 16949, EMS & OHSAS in Horizon. It is under her guidance and leadership, that various improvement activities like Quality Circle, 5 S, “My Machine” concept were started across the company. She also looks into welfare activities like providing educations to the workers’ children, doing team building activities across the company.

Mr Jyoti Prakash Gadia is Convenor of CII Delhi Panel on SMEs and the Founder and Managing Director of Resurgent India Ltd.

He has more than 15 years of experience in the financial services industry. Over the years, he has been closely associated with the CEOs of highly successful mid-market companies, as an advisor on business strategy and capital raising.

He holds to his credit educational degrees of CFA, CA, CS, MBA (Finance) and AICWA. His core competence is in the field of corporate finance and management consultancy.



Subodh BhargavaPresident, CII (1994-95) &ChairmanTata Communications Limited

Mr Subodh Bhargava received degree in Mechanical Engineering from the erstwhile University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in 1962 and began his professional career with Balmer Lawrie and Company at Calcutta. Thereafter, he joined the Eicher Group of Companies in 1975, and quickly rose up the ladder to become the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Group in 1997, a position he held till his retirement in 2000.

Mr Bhargava was the President of Association of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and Vice President of Tractor Manufaturers Association in which capacity he made exemplary contribution to the Indian Automobile Industry rendering valuable service to the nation in developing and nurturing the automobile industry. Through total quality management, research and development, technology and the customer. His stewardship of the Eicher Group led to a paradigm shift in the basic approach of the Company by diversifying from a single-product single-location enterprise, to a multi-product and multi-location conglomerate of global stature.

The Confederation of Indian Industry deservedly honored him for enterprise by electing him its President during 1994-95. He was a key spokesperson for Indian industry, contributing to and influencing government policy at the National level while simultaneously



working with industry through adopting value and ethics based practices, exemplary corporate governance, innovation and globalization to evolve new responses to the changing environment.

Mr Bhargava was a Member of several Government appointed Task Forces and Committees, like Justice Eradi Committee for Insolvency Laws, the Nair Committee to study the Future Perspectives for Sustainable Growth of Ordinance Factories, the Committee of the Technology Development Board, the Professor Iswar Dayal Committee on the future Perspective for Management Education in India, and the professor P. Mr Sunil Kant Munjal is the Chairman of Hero Corporate Service Pvt. Ltd. He is responsible for developing growth strategy and implementation of new business plans for the Group. He is the Founder Chairman of BML Educorp Services (a non-for-profit university initiative by the Hero Group). He is the guiding force behind the BML Munjal University and is playing a key role in helping create a unique Higher Education Initiative.

Mr Munjal is currently Sr. Vice President of the All India Management Association (AIMA). He has also been Past President of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). He was a member of Prime Minister’s Council on Trade & Industry.

He is on the boards of DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd., Coca Cola India Advisory Board, Bharti Foundation, the Indian School of Business at Hyderabad and Mohali. Mr Singh is the Vice Chairman of CII Haryana State Council. He is very actively involved in various CII state initiative & activities.

Mr IMJS Sidhu is the President and Director-in-charge of Vardhman Textiles Ltd, Baddi. He completed his B.Tech in Textile Engineering in the year 1971 from the Technological Institute of Textile & Sciences in Bhiwani. Mr Sidhu has 43 years’ experience in manufacturing and general management in various capacities, with multi- location responsibilities with 41 years in Vardhman Textiles. Vardhman Textile is also the flagship company of the Vardhman group with a turnover of 8000cr. Mr Sidhu is also the member on the expert panel of the technological institute of Textiles and Sciences, Bhiwani. He was instrumental in introducing quality circle concept in Vardhman group.

Rajesh Saboo Chairman, Himachal Pradesh State Council &Director Phoenix udyog Pvt Ltd

Mr Rajesh Saboo currently heads units of AMM Engineering works and Phoenix Udyog Pvt. Ltd at Kala Amb by RBS group of Companies. He completed his graduation in Commerce from Delhi University in the year 1980. Immediately after completion of studies, joined family business involved in distribution of SKF bearings. Just inspired from “Make In India”, after lot of innovations Mr. Saboo had recently launched two new products with emphasis on clean energy in line with “Swatch Bharat Abhiyan”. The products launched are smoke free “Annapurna Unnat Chullah” to replace traditional smoke emitting Angithi and “E-Star E rickshaw” as a replacement to Polluting Auto Rickshaw” being run in different states of India. With these products, group aims at achieving record turnover and also thereby cleansing environment. Since 2005, Mr. Saboo has been an active member of CII and have keenly participated in many seminars held by CII on various topics. Not only he has attended most of seminar but have also shared his suggestions/ opinions number of times. For the last six years he is Executive Member of CII for Himachal Division.

Mr Rajender Guleria is the Director Enviro Enterprises. Mr Rajender Guleria has been associated with CII from a very long time. He has been an active member of CII and have keenly participated in many seminars held by CII on various topics, and shared his suggestions/opinions number of times. He has been the Chairman- CII Himachal Pradesh State Council, and also headed the Regional Committee on Skills & Education, and he has also been the member of CII Northern Regional Council.

Mr Singh is actively engaged with CII since last several year, before taking over as a Chairman CII Amritsar Zonal Council during the year 2013-14, he was Vice- Chairman, CII Amritsar Zonal Council for the year 2012-13. Mrs Kamna Raj Aggarwalla has served as the Chairperson of CII Punjab State Council in 2012-13. Mrs Aggarwalla in 1988- took up the challenge as a young woman entrepreneur of Punjab and successfully initiated export of steel products to quality keen markets like Europe. She was one of the twenty & the only female participant to be chosen from amongst many across the globe, for the study programme in 1989 organized by CBI NETHERLANDS (an agency established to promote industrial products from developing nations).

Mr. Sachin Agarwal, the Managing Director of PTC Industries Limited was born in Lucknow, UP where he spent his early years. For his higher education, he proceeded to the United States where he obtained an MBA in Operations from the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma and an M. Sc in Finance from Boston College, Massachusetts. Mr Rakesh Oberai is Chairman and Managing Director of Oberai Motors. He is a part of the leading business house of Dehra Dun well known for ethical and honest practices and philanthropic activities.

After graduation with Honours from the renowned University of Roorkee (now IIT Roorkee) in Mechanical Engineering, he joined his father in the Limestone Mining business in 1970. His craving for perfection and professional management ensured the development of mines on scientific lines which was duly recognized by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India when it chose their Ladwakot Mine as one of the only two Limestone Mines to continue operations till the expiry of lease.
