State of the SchoolsMentor Schools Superintendent Matthew Miller will join us to deliver a State of the Schools address for the second year in a row. Garage SaleJoin us for this HUGE annual garage sale where you may $nd some wonderful treasures. The cost is $25 for a 6 foot table or $20 for a 5 foot table or a round table. Table space is available to seniors beginning Dec 5 for residents and Dec 6 for nonresidents. After Mar 1, table space will be available to anyone wishing to participate. Donations for the bake sale would be appreciated. If you would like to donate to the bake sale,

Kitchen NewsGreg Feathers has been the Kitchen Coordinator for more than 2 years. Frank Perinacci has been here for 3 years and Molly Sebring just celebrated her one year anniversary. Our kitchen sta! and volunteers work very hard to provide delicious, nutrtitious, from scratch meals at very reasonable prices. We have not increased lunch prices in 4 years, but unfortunately food costs continue to rise. We will have some slight increases in lunch prices beginning January 1, most notably lunch specials will be $4.50 and special luncheons will be $7.

Weather AlertWe DO NOT follow the Mentor Schools closing schedule. We rarely close, but

we do ask seniors to use good judg-ment for their safety when choosing to drive. Although the building rarely closes, occasionally a program will be cancelled at the discretion of the instructor and the Senior Center Direc-tor. Please call to con$rm if your class will be held prior to leaving home.

We ask folks to change into clean dry shoes when using the $tness studio and $tness equipment because the salt and dirt is very damaging to the wood ;oor and our $tness equipment.

Income Tax Assistance with AARP Volunteers

Trained volunteers will assist in the completion of state and federal in-come tax forms. The volunteers do not assist with city tax forms. Bring these items: • Copy of last year’s income tax return (s) and supporting documentation • W-2 & W-2p forms from each employ-er if you earned a salary; SSA-1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-MISC, etc) showing interest, and or divi-dends and original purchase price of sold assets • 1099 form from the payer of your pension or annuity • 1095 form (if you have one) • Unemployment compensation state-ments • All forms indicating federal income tax paid • All receipts or cancelled checks if itemizing deductions • Your social security card Location: Stage (Register in advance) Feb 9 - Apr 13 Thu 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Call to register, spots $ll quickly.

We have three sta! members dedicated to working with the Special Elders population from 10:30 - 2:00, Monday - Friday. We ring in the New Year with lots to keep us warm and active at the Mentor Senior Center. We have a hot new !tness class, Country Heat on Mondays at 10:35. We have invited community leaders and senior organizations to speak to our seniors monthly on Wednesdays. Mentor Schools Superintendent Matthew Miller will join us to deliver a State of the Schools address for the second year in a row at the Mentor Senior Center. A senior forum will be o#ered January 18 with representatives from Council on Aging, the Social Security Agency and local government. Sheri# Dunlap will share important recommendations for ensuring we all keep ourselves safe while driving. Don’t forget to register for our Welcoming in 2017 party! It promises to be lots of fun with great music, dancing, games and more. Best wishes to all of you for a happy, healthy 2017!

Prevent the $10 administrative fee by transferring the full trip amount to another trip/class/program within the same season. Participants assume risk of change in personal circumstances or health. PROGRAM/ACTIVITY REFUND GUIDELINES

1. A full refund or transfer is available if Mentor Senior Center cancels the program/activity.

2. Transfers can be made with full credit, up to the #rst day of the program. Transfers must be within the same season and year of programs and into a program that has available space.

3. An administrative charge of $10 will be assessed if the participant cancels out of the program/activity. Prevent the $10 fee by transferring the full amount to another program/activity within the same season. Students assume risk of change in personal a+airs and health.

You must be 55 years or older, a member of the senior center and must take the Exercise Equipment Training Class to participate.

Learn to use our equipment safely with proper form, seat and weight settings and how to use a workout card to track your progress from a certi#ed instructor. Classes are limited to four participants.

The two hours of instruction is available in 2 formats: The one hour, 2 session class is recommended for most seniors and those new to exercise. The two hour, 1 session class is recommended only for those experienced exercisers already familiar with the equipment.
