    Abstract

The purpose of the paper present is the study of the mentality of young people about

internet. The issues raised by the Internet reinforce the present trends towardsglobalization of economic, political and social system. The Internet is a network of

networks which scattered all over the world. What began by being in a network in the

decades 1960s by the U.S. Department of defence and later to the academy the known

ARPANET, now Internet grew and it continues to grew in exponential from continuing inour days with billions of users at a global level in present (Costa, 2006) and everyday

increasing its counting. Increasing the interest of people about Internet because it isprovide facility as social, cultural, scientific and new methods for development research.

The young people amount of time spend in Internet surfing as a searching, chatting etc.,

they can lead to depression and other mental problem and lack opportunities to improvetheir social skills (Bostick, 2005) due to the lack of interactions and intimate relationship

    with friends and family.

    Introduction

The computers are growing in popularity very rapidly. Almost everything you can of

thing is being run by computer from ongoing records to directly traffic. The information

technology industry is growing at an incredible rate. The impact of computers on oureveryday life is monumental, through taken for granted. Internet is the world largest

computer network of networks, scattered in all over the world. It was created nearly 35

years ago as a project forth U.S. Department of defence. It goal was to create method forwidely separated computers to transfer data efficiently even in the event of nuclear attack

from a handful of computer and uses in the 1960s, today the Internet has grown to

thousands of regional network that can connect millions of users, any single individual

company or country does not own this global network. The users of Internet increasingday by day because Internet is allow collect and share any type of information in entire

worlds of users due to this reason increasing the interest of young people in using

Internet, however the put us in touch with the entire interconnected world with ability tohurt, misunderstand or infuriate through unintended cultural differences (Langford,

2000). In present the young people are dependent on Internet for searching study

material, literature, graphics and chatting with friends especially in metropolitan cities, Ithink in near future people totally dependent on technology. The information technology

helps us to the solving mathematical problems, research problems and forecasting the

    meteorological phenomenon etc.

The internet is having a substantive effect on how people in our society behave andinteract. For the first time in our history children are more comfortable and

knowledgeable with a technology than are their parents, and there are important

considerations in this switch (Topscott, 1998). Telecommunication network andcomputer technology are leading the change that is transforming our lives and we lack the

    resource to understand how to cope with ethical change (Stahl, 1999; Barroso, 2001;

    Gomes, 2002).

    History and development of Internet

What began by being in a network, when U.S. Department of defence in decades 1960s

feel a computer network which can transfer data efficiently even in the event of a nuclear

attack and later in 1962-1969 proposed concept of internet and that time also had been it

introduced in a small network. In 1970-1973 developed an Advance Research Project

Agency by the U.S. organization of defence, which well known ARPANET, now Internetgrew and it continues to grew, in fact the use of Internet has increased exponentially over

the past few years. In 1972 established an International working Group, the Vintonverswas the first president of that organization which is in present known as a father of

Internet. The users of Internet is increasing day by day end of 1997 more than 100

million people were using the Internet and traffic it is double ling every 100 days (TheEmerging Digital Economy, 1998). Parallel to this expansion in utilization has been

substantial changes in Internet communication technology. Usenet newsgroup discussion

& electronic mail were the predominant communication technologies the earlier days.

Today the Internet offers a much wider scope of tools used for information transmissionand retrieval, communication and interaction (December, 1996).In fact testimony of the

impressive massification is the possibility, to buy an aero plane ticket, rail ticket, ofordering a book from another country, to sell an apartment, to see the schedule oftransports chat with friends in entire world, finally an endless list of usefulness jus with

click mouse. In 15 August 1995 first time Internet service had been started by Vedesh

Sanchar Nigam limited (VSNL) in metropolitan cities in India.

The young people and the Internet

The interest of young people about Internet increasing in present time because we can say

that it is the largest library of the world which contain all fields of useful literature past

and present and it is provider of all useful facilities to people such as searching literature,

graphics, news online, of ordering a book from another country, buy aero plane ticket andput us in touch all over the world at home. In present young people and evenly children

are extensive amount of time spend online in Internet surfing. They can lead to

depression and other mental health related problem due to lack of meaningful interactionsand close relationship with friends and family. Young people who spend hours online and

limit their social interactions with their peers and become socially isolated as they lack

opportunities to improve their social skills (Bostick, 2005). I believe that this emphasis anactual development fact: adolescents use the Internet much more than children do

(Thornburgh and Lin, 2002). However the age of first Internet use is rapidly ascending,

being now under 12 years old (Wartella et al., 2005). A recently research published in

China daily says that 17% of male and 10% of female youth is dependent of Internet use.The answers were obtained at school, cyber cafes and through Internet questionnaires.

The research didnt reveal the exact number of Chinese addicts, but most of them are in

the 13-17 years old age group, and 23, 2% of the high school students are addicted to theinternet (China Daily, 2005). One study shows that 70% of 13 and 14 years olds go into

chat rooms where they might be exposed to unethical subjects (Jones, 2002). The Users

are happier in the virtual than in the real world, and they are frustrated if they cannotaccess to the web. In conclusion online interaction is just not the same.

    Conclusion

The Internet as a new social environment, new cultural tools in which universal

adolescent issues such as identity, sexuality and a sense of self-worth are played out in

virtual world in ways that are both new and old (Subrahmanyam et al., 2000/2001).

However the study indicates we can say that Internet as a source of new methods fordevelopmental research as well as new research environment that requires the

development of new methodologies. As a source of new methods, applications for publiccommunication represented in this social section by chat rooms and bulletin boards,

providing a locus for observing peer interaction that is usually hidden from the view of

adults in general and research in particular.
