CAUSES

Traumatic and sudden stressful events cause this disorder. A few examples that cause this disorder are war, sexual

assault, and natural disasters.

PREVALENCE

About 10% of Men and 5% of Women are diagnosed with PTSD in their lifetime.

1 in 30 U.S. adults suffer from PTSD every year.5% Women

SIGNS & SYMPTOMS

Makes you feel stressed and frightened even after all danger is gone.

Causes: Flashbacks Trouble Sleeping, Nightmares, or even Night Terrors Loneliness Boisterous Outbursts Uncommon amounts of Stress, Guiltiness, and Sadness

MOST AT RISK

PTSD can affect everyone, even children, but it primarily affects adult males.

It especially affects war veterans.

PREVENTION

Avoid, as best you can, any place or event that may put you in extreme amounts of stress or danger.

Military programs also provide training on how to handle and deal with events of such nature.

TREATMENT

Medicines can help victims cope with and ease tension and fear.

Talk Therapy, talking with a trained doctor or counselor, also helps people who suffer from PTSD.

Talk Therapy usually last 6 – 12 weeks.
