SUBJECT: Non-Recover~ble

TO: Non-Recoverable Board, AGRC

1. It is recommended that the Board take action on the following cases:

SYNOPSIS: The casualties listed on att~ched roster are report by official records as tUBsing In Action or Killed In Action during grc~

air or naval operations in the department of M:mche, Fr'-lnce, from the period of 5 June 1944 to 15 l\UgUSt 1944. Extensive area senrches as wel~

as individual investig~tionB have to date failed to furnish information as to the ultimnte disposition of their rem~ins. Efforts to effect association vlith unidentifi~d recoveries from the nrea, now interred in U.S. Military Cemeteries, ho.ve also proven neg,J.tive. The Inck of specifi information regnrding the deo.th or burinl, limited search in Inost instances to genero.l loc~lities, however, documents on file in this Offie and Office of The 0uarterluaster General subst~ntiate the fact that numerous investigations covering the entire depnrtment of the iknehe, have been conducted. in the course of search oper.ltions for all losses, both recovered and unrecovered. The terr~in of the t~nche dep~rtment, fo' the most part, consists of f~rm and gesture l~nd which has been under constant cultiv:ltion and d.1ily use since the cessation of hostilities, thus the possibility of undiscovered grwes is remote. It can therefore only be concluded th~t the rem~ins of the decea~ed in question were reduced by b~ttle action to a state which precludes recovery or identifi cation. The absence of s9ccific inform~tion concerning their deaths, the f~ilure of Field Investig~tions to provide evidence, and the lack of association 'with rccovorcd unlmonns would tend to substJ.ntiate these
