We are inspired by their love, commitment and dedication to our son and to our lives. As you know, Bill, Steven, Tracy and I went into the memorial in New York in September 2011. Since that time, our friend Nate Snoke has kept asking when he could go into NY with us. Even though going there is painful, it also brings lots of good memories of Bill. These memories make us laugh and smile and we need to remember the happiness. We returned to New York on October 6, 2012 with many dear friends. Janet has been helping out with the golf outing for the past few years but more importantly, she is a good person who is so caring and giving. Oh, and she is so much fun to be with. We have known Mickey & Sam Jarvis for more than 20 years. We met through a retreat at St. Thomas More Church, and well, words can't even begin to describe these two. They are the dynamic duo and have always been there for us. They are problem solvers and are kindhearted, benevolent and always willing to lend a helping hand. They have such a deep faith and are oh so much fun. Mary Knopf was our friend since before September 11, 2001. We are so touched that she knew Billy, having met him for the first time on a New York trip. Mary also helps out at the golf outing and she is a forever friend and someone you can always count on for making you feel better after talking with her. Oh, and she is so much fun. We are so lucky to have in-laws, Linda & Roger Sell, who are more like family. Those two are always there with open arms and loving hearts. We are truly blessed to have them in our lives. They have helped out with the golf outing since they came into our lives and oh, they are so much fun. We have known Nate Snoke since he was a baby. He is such a hard worker and is supportive, lov- ing and caring, too. Nate was the one who kept saying, "El, the next time you go to the Memorial, Tammi and I would like to go". Nate's wife, Tammi Snoke, is smart, compassionate, and kind heart- ed, and Nate is one lucky man to have her by his side. Oh, and they are so much fun.

We will always be so proud of our son Bill andall of his accomplishments. Losing a child is thehardest thing we've had to face in our lives.

A tragedy such as ours has changed the direc-tion of our life, but we do feel blessed to havechanged many others' lives from the Bill SugraMemorial Fund. This past year we were able togive $50,000 to many local organizations whowere in need.

Margie & Jim Snoke are childhood friends.Margie is a treasure, someone you can alwayscount on to be there for you. And if it wasn't forMargie I would not have found my soul mateBill. Jim and Bill were friends and that's how wemet. Jim is thoughtful, considerate and loving. They both can make you laugh and make youfeel so good. Oh, and they are so much fun. Asyou probably guessed, Nate is their son.

All of these friends have touched our lives in apositive way and they have truly made a differ-ence in our life. All of the words I used candescribe each one of them, and I can honestlysay, if it were not for these friends in our lives Itruly do not know where Bill and I would be.

So, I started the planning for the trip. We decid-ed it would be easier to take 12 people by limoinstead of going into NY by bus, then subwayand taxi. The plan was to visit the Memorial, have lunch somewhere and do some sightseeing.

Well, in the limo bus, Bill made bloody mary'sand mimosas, and we also had beer, wine and good-ies. Janet made blueberry muffins, Mickeymade a fruit salad, Mary brought snacks,Margie brought goodies, and so did Tammi andLinda. We were well stocked and our driverJimmy was the best!!!

It was a beautiful warm, sunny Saturday whenwe arrived at the Memorial. I had ordered tick-ets from the website in advance and because weare family we go through a separate entrance. They also allow us to take a rubbing of Bill'sname. It was somber and sad, but I do think thatBill was pleased to see all of us there. I knowthat sounds crazy but it makes me feel better.

The hard thing to keep out of your mind is thethoughts and feelings that return even thoughyou don't want them. All of the terror of thatday comes rushing back, and it takes a lot ofenergy to push it away and to relive this life-changing event. At the same time, we also havegood memories of visiting the Cantor Fitzgeraldoffices in the North Tower where Bill worked.

The Memorial is such a peaceful and respectfulplace that honors all those who were lost on thathorrific day. We were blessed to be surroundedby our friends who mean so much to us and toour son Bill. We hugged, said prayers, took rub-bings, cried, took pictures and remembered Billby telling some stories about him.

Afterwards, we looked for a place to eat, and adear friend had told us about Patsy's ItalianRestaurant on 236 West 56th Street. Our friendalso helped with the reservation. This high-pro-file restaurant, which has been family-ownedsince 1944, is definitely a place you want tokeep coming back to.

We were treated royally and made to feel likefamily. We met Rose, Joe and their son Sal whois the chef. It was known as Frank Sinatra's

restaurant, and we even got to sit at the FrankSinatra table upstairs.

They presented each of the ladies with a jar oftheir pasta in a gift bag. Bill and I even got ourpicture taken with Sal. Our server Diego fromEcuador was so attentive and funny. The foodwas delicious and we cannot wait to go back. Oh,on the way out, Bill and I were talking to Joe andtold him how much we loved the restaurant. Joeleaned over and said, "Look in the corner of therestaurant, it's Donald Sutherland and his wife."

I also contacted a friend, FDNY LieutenantPaul Geidel (ret.), who was a fireman forRescue 1 in Manhattan. Paul was the father ofGary, who lost his life on that dreadful day. Hisother son Mike Geidel is a member of the firedepartment. So after talking to Paul we arrangedto visit the firehouse and meet his son Mike. Itwas awesome and we felt proud and honored tomeet those heroes.

Rescue 1 was one of the most decimated unitsduring the September 11th attacks at the WorldTrade Center, losing nearly half of its company. One of the first units to enter the North Towerstairwell, the company lost members CaptainTerence S. Hatton, Lieutenant Dennis Mojica,Joseph Angelini Sr., Gary Geidel, WilliamHenry, Kenneth Joseph Marino, MichaelMontesi, Gerard Terence Nevins, Patrick J.O'Keefe, Brian Edward Sweeney and DavidM. Weiss.

We ended the day by going to where Bill lived at33 Gold St. and it was a short walk from thereto South Street Seaport. The South StreetSeaport is a historic area in the New York Cityborough of Manhattan, located where FultonStreet meets the East River, and is adjacent tothe Financial District. The Seaport is a desig-nated historic district, distinct from the neigh-boring Financial District.

It includes renovated original mercantile build-ings, renovated sailing ships, the former FultonFish Market, and modern tourist malls featur-ing food, shopping and nightlife, all with a viewof the Brooklyn Bridge. At the entrance to theSeaport is the Titanic Memorial lighthouse.

Billy loved it there and so did we. It was a great spot to end the day and headback to Allentown. We can never totally remove all the sad memories but wecan choose to make this world a better place to live.

In golf tournament news, we had a flag madefor Ken Palladino (pictured right with Bill) forgetting the hole-in-one at the 2012 tourney.Bill and I presented it to Ken, who was veryproud of receiving the flag. Once again, con-gratulations Ken! Hopefully, this coming yearwe can have another prize winner! A great bigthank you to Ameriprise Financial, PaulEiffler and Scott Chevrolet, Rich Salezzewho sponsored the prizes for the holes-in-one.

As always, we invite you to email us with any ideas or information about you.We would love to hear from you and highlight you in our newsletter. If youhaven't done so please visit our website: www.billsugramemorialfund.org.Thanks to Alex Spatz, the site now features the pictures from all the previousgolf outings. It also features all of the organizations that we gave to last year.

Of course, no newsletter would be completewithout mentioning Tripp and Reagan. Bythe time you receive this newsletter Tripp willbe 2 years old and he has been practicing hisdriving along with Reagan, who will be 4 inOctober. We do believe that Reagan and Trippwill soon be taking over driving the beveragecart from Pop-Pop.

We look forward to seeing you

August 23, 2013 at Green Pondfor another year of remembering our son. The proceeds from this event willcontinue to help many organizations and make a difference in the lives of thosein need. God Bless,Bill, El, Steven, Tracy,Reagan and Tripp
