Holyrood Parliamentary Question
Stewart Stevenson (S2W-29478): To ask the Scottish Executive how many (a) males and (b) females have been (i) prosecuted and (ii) convicted of sectarian violence in each year since 1999, broken down by age and police force area.
Reply from Elish Angiolini QC: Sectarian violence is not a separate charge - any charge may have a variety of aggravations added and one of the options is religious. The following tables show the number of charges relating to violent offences with religious aggravations where (1) the charge was prosecuted and (2) the prosecution led to a conviction since the introduction of religious aggravations in 2003.
