We’vebeenhardatworkpreparingfor2019’sGrandFlyingChallengetocelebrate87yearsofCoventryAeroClubbytryingtolandawayat87locationstoraisemoneyforAerobility.Tomakesureeveryonecangetinvolvedandjustincasetheweatherisn’tcooperative,wehavenowdecidedtoexpandthechallengetorunoverJuneandJulyandnameit“theJuFlyChallenge”.

Wearecurrentlyplanningopen-dayeventsincludingclubsocialBBQ’sontheweekendsof29/30Juneand27/28July(dependingondemandandtheweather).There’salotofworktodotoprepareandrunthechallengeso,amongstotherthings,we’recurrentlylookingforhelpto:

Water Leak Causes Substantial Damage As many of you will know, the club premises suffered substantial damage over the weekend of 26/27th January due to a water leak in the upstairs kitchen. The damage affected all areas of the club with the exception of the hangar. The FSM offices were so badly affected that they have had to temporarily move upstairs and the café will remain closed for the time being.We are working hard to get everything reinstated as soon as possible.
Apart from the café, we are back to full operation with all flying activities are going ahead. We’d like to thank all of those members and visitors (including the Airport Fire Service) who helped us mop up over the weekend. Below are some pictures of the damage…..

The hotly contested paper plane throwing competition was won by Anthony Ryan although special mention must go to David Ramirez’s plane which “gave birth” to baby aeroplane twins whilst airborne!
