On-line processing provides interaction with the computer. Whenever transactions or input data are entered into the system, they get processed immediately. However, the user has to wait a short time for the output or response.

Example 1:Transport ReservationPassengers are allowed to make reservations to immediately know whether a seat is available or not. It accepts from the user the relevant data which is processed immediately for availability for the seat. If they are willing to book this reservation the on-line data processing computer system will confirm it and reduce the total number of available seats. This goes for airline, bus and train reservations.

Example 2:Automated Teller Machine (ATM)

The ATM uses ATM network that allows the cardholder’s bank to interact with the transaction which is taking place via a standard telephone line or the internet. The card is inserted and if there are sufficient funds, the withdrawal request will be completed from the account. Once approved with a pin, the ATM receives authorization from the bank and dispenses the requested cash. Persons are also allowed to check their account balance.
