Facility AmenitiesAmenities include: Pool - Gymnasium - Fitness, Cardio, Core Strength & WeightRooms - three Multi-Purpose Rooms (built-in ballet bar), Mens & Womens Saunas.
Day-use lockers are available in each locker room. Bring your own lock to securepersonal belongings. Monthly and yearly rentals are also available. NECC accepts nresponsibility or lost or stolen items. Please leave valuables at home.
Child Watch is available to members while they are inside the acility. Children u
der 2 require a reservation made with the ront desk.Parking stickers must be visible when parking in the NECC parking lot (located acrthe street rom the ront entrance). Any non-stickered vehicles will be towed. Thesticker is valid only i the member is in the NECC acility.
Guest Policy
NECC welcomes guests and encourages you to share the experience o the Commun
Center with amily, riends, and coworkers. To ensure members enjoy optimum use ohe center and to protect the value o your membership, the ollowing Guest Policies
pply:Guests can use our acility on a one-time use Guest Pass. PRIOR to using the acilitguests must complete a Guest Application/Waiver in its entirety or security and li
ability purposes. Photo ID is required or admittance and access to the acility will denied without compliance. Ater the one-time visit, guests must purchase either
$10 day-use pass or a $25, 2-week membership (limited to 1 purchase every 3 mos
Member accounts are issued 5 guest passes per year or all primary and associ-
ate members together in that account. Once those 5 passes have been used, theirguests are welcome to purchase either a $10 day-use pass or a $25, 2-week memb
ship (limited to 1 purchase every 3 mos.)
To use the NECC lot, a temporary parking pass is required. There are a limited number available, so it is advised to bike, walk or use public transportation.
Please accompany your guests at all times and take responsibility or your gues
onduct.Cancellation Policy
You may resign rom your NECC membership by completing an o cial NECC Cancelation Form, which may be obtained rom the Front Desk. This is the only accepted
verication o your intent to cancel. Notication by telephone or email will not be acepted. Your membership account must be paid in ull in order to cancel.
Written notice must be received 30 days prior to current monthly payment to
stop all billing transers or the ollowing month.
Membership cards must be turned in when the cancellation request is submitted.
Temporary cards will be issued or use during the remaining membership term.

Membership Assistance
Financial assistance is available to members and individuals who qualiy. The goalo the program is to assist as many amilies and individuals as possible in making
NECCs membership afordable. To qualiy, complete an application and submit copies o the previous years tax statements to the ront desk. The application material
reviewed and applicants will be notied o the results. Each May, all members recei
ing nancial assistance are required to bring in the previous years tax statements oreassessment o their nancial status. We have tried to make this process easy, condential and as air as possible. Stop by the ront desk or an application. Please allow
at least one week or processing.
Inclement Weather Policy
Due to inclement weather, the schedule or classes/NECC may be subject to changePlease call the NECC or check the website or notication o class status. NECC willbase weather closures on Portland Public School Closures. I PPSs are closed, NECC
will also be closed. I there is a late PPS opening, NECC will open at the same timethat the schools open.
Class Registration Policies
Adult programs and classes that charge a ee require pre-registration and pay-ment.
Pre-registration is required and parental release orms need to be signed or allchildrens classes and programs.
Pre-registration or classes can be done in person at the NECC, online with a cus-tomer account on our website at necommunitycenter.org, or by phone with acredit card. Inormation lists about the classes are available at registration.
Reunds can be requested beore classes or programs start. I a class participant misses a class we cannot hold make-ups or prorate the price
o the class.
Membership On-Hold
Up to one time per year, you may request to suspend your membership or a mini-mum o 1 month and a maximum o 3 months, should a medical reason, temporary
relocation, or vacation keep you rom use o the center acilities.Written application must be received 30 days prior to the anticipated hold-
month to stop all billing transers or that month. An MOH orm is provided by
the Front Desk staf.
Any account balance must be paid in ull prior to going on inactive status and
months are not pro-rated.

NECC Building Rules or ChildrenAll children under 11 yrs o age must be in the Child Watch Center unless going to/
rom a class or under the supervision o an adult (18 years or older).Children 13 and older are allowed on NECC exercise equipment ater training on th
use o the equipment.Children 13 years and older are allowed on the upper gym track area (children und
13 must be under direct supervision o an adult, 18 years or older).
Children 4 and older, o the opposite gender, are not allowed in the Adult LockerRooms.Children 13 and older o the same gender are allowed in the Adult Locker Rooms.
Children under 13, without direct supervision o a responsible adult (18 years or oler), must use the Family Locker Room.
The Family Locker Room, where nudity is not allowed, is available or use by all mebers.
Behavior Guidelines or Children and Adults in the NECC Facility
Running is not allowed in any part o the acility (except or the gym, or as part o asupervised class or activity).
Balls are to be used to play sports/games in the gym, pool, and in classes and are nto be bounced in the lobby, locker rooms or halls, and are not to be used in a destr
tive manner such as being thrown at equipment (such as the lights).
Climbing on equipment and urniture is not allowed.Yelling inside the acility is not allowed (unless in relation to a class activity that is spervised).Fighting is not allowed, and respect or others is expected at the NECC.
When individuals are eating in the acility they need to remain in the lobby and eaa table.
Individuals must wear shoes and proper clothing at all times when in areas other tthe pool and changing rooms.
Membership Policies and Procedures ensure that the Northeast Community Center provides a clean, sae environment or the community it serves. All members are expected abide by these policies and procedures while using the NECC. I you have questions, con

Facility Rental
As a neighborhood community center, the NECC is available or rental. You can rentour pool or gym or a party, or one o our multi-purpose rooms or a meeting orworkshop. For rental inormation and rates, please see Facility Rental brochure or
inquire at the ront desk. Rental availability is limited January-March.

Mission Statement
The Northeast Community Center is a not-or-prot organization dedicated to im-
proving the health and lie o our community. We provide a sae, clean environmentwhere Portland residents o all ages and backgrounds participate in recreational,
educational, and physical activities in a climate o mutual respect and riendship. ThNECC serves a diverse and involved membership whose needs are met through pro
grams and opportunities that strengthen our community.
The centers policies and direction are set by a Board o Directors. They meet on the
ourth Tuesday o each month at the NECC. Meetings are at 6:30pm, and open to everyone.

NECC History
Our building rst opened its doors in 1925 as the Northeast YMCA. Originally built tprovide transitional low cost housing or men and boys, the Y began ofering coed
programs in the 1930s. The building has undergone several renovations that haveserved to extend the buildings useul lie.
In December o 2004, the YMCA o Columbia-Willamette announced plans to closeNortheast acility ater 80 years o service to the community. This brought orth an
outpouring o support or the cherished institution that resulted in the ormationo the not-or-prot Northeast Community Center (NECC). On February 1, 2005 the
Northeast Community Center took over the building and has carried on its longtimehealth and tness heritage ever since.
The Northeast Community Center (NECC) is a neighborhood nonproft that serves peop
o all ages in a building with a long history o active use. Way more than a ftness centethe NECC is a place where people o all ages exercise, swim, play, dance, paint, learn an
share good times.

All swimmers are welcome. A saety rope divides the shallow rom the deep area.NECC equipment- kickboards, balls, torpedoes, noodles, oat belts, liejackets. Mem-
bers may bring their own equipment subject to lieguard approval. No inner-tubes.wimmers may be asked to pass a swim test to be allowed in the deep end.
Lap Swim

Water Workout
An aerobics class in the shallow water designed to get heart rates up, improve exib
ty with stretching, improve core strength, and have un. NECC equipment includes-buoys, ree weights, noodles, sometimes kickboards and iron weights.
Deep Water Workout
All the un o the regular water workout held in the deep end. This class is great or
hose who want to limit the amount o impact on joints, as well as or expectant moters. Some classes utilize the shallow end or stretching. NECC equipment includes-
oat belts, buoys, noodles.
Senior Exercise
This class is very similar to the water workout except it is done at a lower intensity an
utilizes some elements rom the Arthritis Fitness class. NECC equipment- noodles,hand buoys, and optional ree weights.
Arthritis Exercise
This is a range o motion class designed to help keep the joints and muscles limber.
Participants are able to have pain in their joints reduced. The warm water makes thepool ideal or people who have arthritis or other joint and muscle issues. Every class
s taught by an Arthritis Foundation certied instructor. The ability to swim is not re-quired to participate in the program.
Poolleyball
Come play volleyball in the pool!
Ab Power
Similar to the water workout, this class improves core strength and exibility. Utilizinhe shallow & deep ends o the pool, this class ocuses on abdominal & back muscles

Multi-Purpose Room B
Developed in the 1920s by Joseph Pilates, this class is designed to strengthen coremuscles to improve posture, alignment, exibility and breathing. Time spent on the
mat is anything but rest time!
Stretch & Movement
Gymnasium
This class develops strength, exibility and suppleness by combining ballet, yoga
& Pilates to keep your body moving. Focus is on range-o-motion, balance andstrength.
Total Body Conditioning/Cardio Blast

This 90 min. class utilizes resist-a-bands, ree weights and steps or a muscle-toning

Yoga

Active Older Adults (AOA) Programs
The NECC Active Older Adults programs exist to encourage and support wellness in
mind, body and spirit or the older adults through ftness programs, ellowship andcommunity service. For listings o other classes check the aquatics programs.
Potlucks, Socials & Trips
Join our enthusiastic group or potlucks, hikes and other exciting activities. Checour website or the AOA event board at the Center or dates and times.
AOA Lecture Series
Everyone is invited to come to the monthly lunch lecture series. During the
brown bag lunch, speakers will address topics o interest. Every month a new aninteresting topic will be presented. Some areas that may be covered this year
might include new research in senior health and other related topics.

This class is designed to build strength by working the major muscle groups o
