A man walks into a very posh Rodeo Drive furrier with a gorgeous blonde on his arm. "Show the lady your finest mink!" the fellow exclaims. So the owner of the shop goes in the back and comes out with an absolutely gorgeous full-length coat. As the lady tries it on, the furrier sidles up to the guy and discreetly whispers, "Ah, sir, that particular fur goes for $65,000." "No problem! I'll write you a check!" "Very good, sir." says the shop owner. "Today is Saturday. You may come by on
Monday to pick it up, after the check has cleared." So the man and the woman leave. On Monday, the fellow returns. The store owner is outraged: "How dare you show your face in here?! There wasn't a single penny in your checking account!!" "I just had to come by," grinned the guy, "to thank you for the most wonderful weekend of my life!"
Panda Dinner Etiquette A Panda bear walks into a restaurant. He orders a meal and eats it. After politely
paying for his meal, he pulls out a gun and shoots it in the air. He immediately walks out the door. "Why did you do that?" hollered the confused waitress. Looking back over his shoulder the panda says "I'm a panda". "Look it up in t h e d i c t i o n a r y. " T h e w a i t r e s s l o c a t e s t h e dictionary on her bosses desk and searches for the definition of panda bear. Finding it she reads, "Panda Bear - A large black and white bear like mammal native to the far east. Eats shoots and leaves."
American Idol FunnyQ: How do you know your dating William Hung? A1: He manages to tear your dress, trash your corsage and step on *both* your feet dancing, but that doggone goofy charm convinces you to give it up anyway. Q: How do you know your on American Idol? A: After getting your GED, you get more votes than our president for your rendition of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" in a mohawk! (Sanjaya, 6th Season) Q: What would Simon C o w e l l s a y i f y o u auditioned for American Idol? A1: If you would be singing like this two thousand years
ago, people would have stoned you. A2: If your lifeguard duties were as good as your singing, a lot of people would be drowning. A3: "My advice would be if you want to pursue a career in the music business, don't." A4: "Did you really believe you could become the American Idol? Well, then, you're deaf." A5: "Utterly horrendous. I'm being serious. Honestly, it was as bad as anything we see at the beginning of 'American Idol' where all the terrible singers come on." Q: What does President B u s h s a y w h e n c o n g r a t u l a t i n g t h e American Idol winner by phone? A: "I do everything I want, because of tremendous distractions like you." I could win American Idol, if they just let me bring my shower on stage.

China is on the verge of r ece iv ing i t s second shipment of shale gas from the U.S.The Methane Julia Louise
has signaled it’s bound for Ningbo, a port city on China’s eastern coast, s h i p - t r a c k i n g d a t a compiled by Bloomberg
show. Earlier this month, the liquefied natural gas tanker owned by Mitsui & Co. arrived at Cheniere Energy Inc.’s Sabine Pass terminal, according to the data. The delivery would come on top of a cargo sent to Shenzhen in July from the e x p o r t t e r m i n a l i n Louisiana, which shipped its first cargo in February. Chinese LNG imports are up by almost a fifth in the first three quarters from a year earlier, according to Timera Energy.“China’s LNG imports
have been growing this y e a r , ” L e s l i e Pa l t i -Guzman, director of global g a s f o r B e t h e s d a , Maryland-based Rapidan Group LLC, said by phone Friday. “There is a demand response to lower prices but there’s also a ramp up o f c o n t r a c t u a l arrangements.”The U.S. is set to export a record number of cargoes of gas this month amid booming supplies from prolific shale reserves. Nine LNG tankers have departed or are scheduled to leave Sabine Pass, the most for any month since exports began.
A call and email seeking comment from Cheniere weren’ t immedia te ly returned. Mitsui wasn’t immediately available to provide comment.
Cheniere ships second U.S. shale gas cargo to China
Energy companies in Houston, Texas and across the country will look east this week as OPEC nations attempt to conclude a truce in an oil-market war that has cost 150,000 American jobs and buffeted the local and state economies for the better part of two years.
If OPEC cuts production, U.S. drillers could march rigs back to oil patch

I
hope Trump does not select Romney for secretary of state. It’s hard to imagine how Trump could trust Romney in some private diplomatic setting somewhere on the other side of the world, to faithfully communicate his message instead of undermining him. He would have to be a passionate spokesman and a r t i c u l a t e d e f e n d e r o f Amer i can po l i c y, no t a r e l u c t a n t m e s s e n g e r. I seriously doubt it.
Suspend Trump’s Twitter
account? Heaven forbid! He’s the only reason I have one.
History has repeated itself.
The founding fathers thought Andrew Jackson was a “cracker,” unsophisticated in every way. The founders wouldn’t invite Trump to their dinner tables, either.
To the couple at the booth in front of us today at lunch, Sadly, your dine-time modus operandi is a very popular and g r o w i n g t r e n d a m o n g countless folks. For some reason known only to God, they schedule a meal together and i ns tead o f sha r ing conversation, these full-grown adults choose instead to keep their faces, their attention, their brain cells, glued to their handheld devices. I ’m a people watcher.
I am a senior citizen (85) living in Bache. I do not understand how the U.S. Postal Service operates. Today my mail was delivered at 5:15 p.m. (same as dark); other days usually 5 p.m. As I shuffle down my driveway to my mailbox, I wonder why mail is daily delivered directly across the street about 9 a.m. Perhaps I don ’ t have a reason to complain and should be thankful I get mail delivery.
It is truly a shame Medgar Evers wasn’t posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom recently. Yet, the president proudly presented the medal to Ellen DeGeneres, among some o ther Ho l l ywood types . Medgar Evers, I’m sure, is enjoying a rich reward in heaven for the righteous cause he stood for during the civil rights struggle. At least the Navy has seen fit to name a future ship in honor and memory of Evers.
Jill Stien, quit playing with p e o p l e ’s e m o t i o n s a n d pocketbooks. Anyone with half a brain knows this is a re-coop the money by playing with people move. What a sad and pathetic woman who never stood a chance in the first place.
Twitter should do everybody a favor and suspend Trump’s account for the good of the country and for Trump.
Football: A contact sport played mostly using the arms on a 100-yard field with scoring determined in inch measurements visually by referees wearing striped pajamas.
My husband and I were at Western Sizzlin restaurant t o d a y a n d s o m e v e r y thoughtfu l and gracious person paid for our lunch. My
husband is 90 years old and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in France during the war. We want to thank you very much for your generosity. Thank you again. I salute you!
People think Trump is mean to deport illegals. But is there any country in the world an American can walk into and work illegally, putting the locals out of work? We would be locked up, deported or something worse.
The woman that said the
terrible things about our president elects son must be such a sad person to be so upset that you have to go after a child! What a disgrace, I can't even say her name because she is so disgusting.
If the popular vote doesn’t count for president, then there is no president elect until the electors meet and cast their votes. Count all the votes that the citizens cast first. It’s not over till it’s over.
Proud Trump Supporter
The truth is the president will not have any effect on the average American, at least not for years.
Here goes: I am getting gas at the convenience store and a car pulls up beside me, the driver rolls down and window and states “what a nice bumper sticker” then gets out and proceeds to throw a cup of coffee in my face, thank God the coffee was not hot, but I am still floored that a bumpers sticker could cause such an outrage. I will never remove my Trump sticker so I guess I will be more careful next time.

This last week we saw an a t t a c k a t O h i o S t a t e University. Even though this was not and active shooter, it was still an attack where the intent was to take as many lives as possible in the shortest amount of time. One of the things that was said by administration to the media was Run, Hide, Fight. The media acted as if they didn’t know what was meant by this. This is a response to an active shooter situation, that is easy to remember and anyone can follow.Run: If there is a clear path to do so attempt to evacuate the area. Have an escape plan in mind, it only takes a few seconds to devise a plan. Evacuate even when others don’t agree to follow. Don’t worry about taking your belongings with you, leave them if they slow you down or you have to look for them. If others agree to evacuate with you assist them in doing so. On your way out, or once outside keep others from going in the direction of the active shooter or where they may be . When Pol ice Officers arrive, keep your hands visible and follow the instructions of the Officers. Do not attempt to move wounded people. Teams of O f f i c e r s a n d m e d i c a l personnel wi l l do that shortly. And as always call
911 when you are safe, if you can’t talk leave the line open and let the dispatcher listen.Hide: If you can’t evacuate, find a place to hide and where the active shooter is less likely to find you. Make sure that your hiding place is out of the active shooters view. Your hiding place should provide protection if shots are f ired in your direction like a room with a closed and locked door. Your hiding place shouldn’t trap you or restrict your options for movement. Lock the door or blockade the door to prevent the shooter from coming into your hiding place. If the door is locked the shooter will most likely move on, because they want as many victims as possible in the shortest amount of time. Turn off anything that could make noise, radios, T.V.’s, printers, fax machines, or printers. Also silence your phones and remain quietFight: If evacuation or hiding are not possible and as a last resort and when your life is in immediate danger, fight. Attempt to disrupt or incapacitate the shooter by acting as aggressively as possible against him or her, t h r o w i n g i t e m s a n d improvising weapons and yelling. Always commit to your actions and once you make the decision to fight don’t stop until the shooter is under control, or the danger is eliminated. It is Time to Begin the Early Evening
FeedingWith another fall calving s e a s o n q u i c k l y approaching, I thought we should take a look at an interesting calving strategy. It is generally accepted that adequate supervision at calving has a significant impact on reducing calf m o r t a l i t y. Ad e q u a t e supervision has been of
increasing importance with the use of larger beef breeds and cattle with larger birth weights. On most ranching operations, supervision of the first calf heifers will be bes t accompl i shed in daylight hours and the poorest observation takes place in the middle of the night. The eas ies t and most p r a c t i c a l m e t h o d o f i n h i b i t i n g n i g h t t i m e calving at present is by feeding cows at night or late evening; the physiological mechanism is unknown, but some hormonal effect may be involved. Rumen motility studies indicate the frequency of rumen contractions falls a few hours before parturition (calving). Intraruminal pressure begins to fall in the last 2 weeks of gestation, with more rapid decline during calving. It has been
suggested that night time or late afternoon feeding c a u s e s i n t r a r u m i n a l pressures to rise at night and decline in the daytime. On many large ranches, it is physically impossible to feed all of the cows after 5:00 pm. In those instances, the ranch manager should plan to feed mature cows earlier in the day, and then feed first calf heifers at dusk. The heifers, of course, are the group of females that are of greatest need of observation during the calving season.Various means have been employed to effectively reduce animal loss at ca lv ing t ime . Sk i l l ed p e r s o n n e l s h o u l d b e available to render
obstretric assistance and neonatal care to maximize p e r c e n t a g e c a l f c r o p w e a n e d i n t h e c a t t l e operation. Currently, evening feeding of cattle seems to be the most e f f e c t i v e m e t h o d o f scheduling calving so assistance can be available during daylight hours.

DON’T YOU LOVE MEMORIES?This time of year is book-ended with turkey dinners and family gatherings. For some, it’s a time of melancholy and
bittersweet. For others, it’s anticipation and festivity. For those of us old enough to h a v e c r e a t e d t h e m , memories play a big role this season.I was reminded of that when I recently attended the 55th Annual Thanksgiving
basketball scrimmages at the MHS Bob Brumley Gym. That gym served as a second home in childhood while my dad coached there. As he and I sat courtside, thanks to the generosity of current coach Chris Zike, my dad marveled at how little the old gym has changed. It’s easy to forget old things once they’re replaced by new. I reminded him of the asbestos ceiling replaced by less hazardous tiles. We talked about the long ropes that hung on one end of the gym – a climbing challenge to high school kids. But it’s easy to remember the concession stand at the front of the gym corridor, not the back. It’s easy to remember t h e w o o d e n t a b l e permanently stationed in front of the home seats, behind the scorekeeper’s table. That’s where the radio crew announced every home basketball game. On one end of that table was a perfectly round hole. During a Thanksgiving scrimmage about 45 years ago, I found a small yellow plastic tube. Other coaches kids and I tossed it around and I ended up holding on to it – not sure why. But sometime during the day, I sat at that wooden table and noticed the hole. The hole and the tube looked about the same size, so I slid it in. To m y s u r p r i s e , i t f i t perfectly. So perfect, that I could not get it back out. It was visible because it was a brighter yellow than the MHS gold table. I tried in vain that day to retrieve that yellow tube. Maybe I thought I’d get in trouble if I left it in there. But despite trying scissors, a
screwdriver, and even a pocketknife, the plastic tube wouldn’t budge. It chipped a t i n y b i t d u r i n g m y excava t ion e f fo r t s but otherwise stayed put.Over the years, I periodically I checked on that tube, even continued trying to get it out, but to no avail. Nobody seemed to notice it but me.Then I left home. I graduated from college and got an adult job. But still…… every year I came back, I checked on my tube . I t never moved . Until…One year I walked into the gym and something felt different. Changes had been made -- new seating, new p a i n t , n e w r a d i o announcer’s table. And then I noticed. The long wooden table was gone, and with it my yellow tube.As goofy as it seems, the disappearance of that table and my childhood toy made me nostalgic. Cracked and sometimes forgotten, but still holding on, just like the memories of childhood. But there comes time for new memories, so that’s what I did last week in that same old gym with my 92 year-old dad.Downtown McAlester has changed over the years too. Kress, Hunts, CR Anthony, Woods Drug, Beale’s Shoes. Those anchors have moved on but new businesses have come in behind them, reminding us that time moves on and we have the privilege of moving with it. I hope you’ll spend some time downtown this season, to shop and maybe reminisce. Relive memories, but go ahead and make some new ones while you’re there.
